There's not a whole lot to say about this place. They sell burgers. Their burgers are pretty good. Everything about this place is somewhat straightforward. No surprises. No gimmicks. Just burgers. The fries are pretty much the generic fast food type. But unfortunately, not the really really good, guilty pleasure type of fast food fries. You know what kind I'm talking about. No, they were plain. And they were many. I couldn't finish them all (although I tried, purely out of principle, and much to the chagrin of my insides...) The staff was quick and the atmosphere is almost nonexistent. There wasn't even any music for the majority of our lunch. Ambiance non existent, dirty and sticky. Food tasted off, was dry and had a foul taste to it. Clearly not hand pressed, burger was too compressed, and cheese not even melted. Service was the blind leading the blind. Won't revisit this place. Chips were ok, but could have used more seasoning. Too all, stop trying to make big burgers. Focus on taste! Good quality burger, tasty meat and nice bun. They have the option of cooking your burger medium rare, or you can choose how you want it done. Good amount of lettuce and pickle. Cheese is melted on top of the burger and the sauce is nice. If the restaurant gets busy they also serve their burgers in the foyer of the building next door, where it is easier to get a seat. I was on a burger hiatus for the longest time due to a bet and then Five Points came out...I was seething inside because I couldn't cave in and from the photos it just looked amazing. The bet finally ended and I made sure Five Points was one of the first burgers for me to get my hands on. Came last Friday just shy of noon and there was already a massive queue, even on a rainy day. The line snaked around the entrance to a side road, and it took about 20-30 minutes to put our order in, and another 15 minutes to wait for it. I ordered a Bronx Double, and my fiancee and friend got the Manhattan and fries. I don't know how some reviewers can compare these burgers to In-N-Out, because they taste nothing like In-N-Out...In-N-Out is an upscale McDonald's, not a holy grail of burgers. It's like comparing In-N-Out to Shake Shack, you can't...they're totally different burgers and at different price ranges. Anyway, was it worth the hype? For the most part yes. Loved the Brasserie Bread and the meat was a great pink. However, I'll definitely be opting for a standard Bronx next time as the double beef overwhelmed the burger a bit. It probably needed a little more cheese or sauce as two (large) beef patties plus bacon is a lot of meat. The fries were average at best. Would I wait 45 minutes again for it? Nothing really happens in North Sydney. The most exiting part of the day would be to successfully avoid those charity workers at Elizabeth Plaza on Mount Street standing strategically at the top of the hill. Five Points is quickly changing that now. Lunch time cannot come any sooner. This New York neighbourhood inspired cafe offers a range of beef, chicken and vegetarian burgers, beer battered chips, slaw and milkshakes. It was 11.40am and there was already people being served and a 10-man line. By the time I received my order 15 minutes later, the line was at two dozen with non-committed foodies turning back. BRONX $12.50 (Grilled beef pattie double cheese, tomato sauce, pickles, american mustard, aioli, bacon, onion jam, iceberg lettuce) This combination is pretty much the perfect beef burger for me. All of the ingredients and condiments are common but in the right proportion. The beef patty was charred around the edges almost crispy (I liked that) whilst still moist and medium inside without being too oily. The bacon added texture whilst the cheese speaks for itself. It's hard to explain all of the flavours and textures coming through, it is definitely an experience. The portion is quite large with the chips, I was stuffed . You can always add a patty for $3 extra. BEER BATTERED CHIPS $4 (Our home 5 point beer battered chips) Five Points beer battered chipsThese are the best chunky chips I have had in a while and are worth the $4. The batter is perfect, light and full of flavour from the beer. The inside is so smooth almost like mash potato. Conclusion Really one of the best burgers in Sydney, I can't wait to try the other burgers. The Bronx burger is a classic perfectly executed with flair and the chips were light crispy little pockets of comforting mash. They will open for dinner soon. Finally made it to this place today and burgers did not disappoint! Arrived about 1pm and it was packed! However, the orders get out fast enough. Only had to wait just under 10 minutes for our burgers to arrive. Very tasty Manhattan burger and goes well with the vanilla bean milkshake. By the time 1.30pm came the place was almost empty! This is how Chipotle got norovirus outbreaks... I mean, Five Points looks to have a very clean kitchen, complete with hand washing sinks and the right sprays, but those bare hands... So, one star goes. [edit: and obviously is now back] It's a decent, large burger in the style of Carl Jr's etc. It's competently prepared, everything is the right size/cooking level/taste in the Bronx (standard option). Quite expensive at $13. But then I am told $13 is a bargain for lunch anywhere near the centre of town. The joint was mostly empty at 5pm on a weekday and service was a little gloomy although they make an effort to muster some energy when communicating with you, and it's quick and efficient and friendly. Maybe it was the weather. The low lighting and "Swedish hipster minimalist" interior makes this about as friendly to hang around in as McDonald's or an airport gate. read more

(Bronx burger $12.50) Beef perfectly cooked, slightly under. Perfect beef flavour to not overpower whole thing. (Not sure of cut but probably chuck) Crisp salad, warm brioche bun. A little too much sauce, especially when u add the melted American cheese. But the burger did hold its shape until the last mouthful! The one star Is for the excellent service received when ordering, because I like my burger patty well done zero red and I'm very specific about this. The order was captured with all these details and because I had to run back to work for a phone hook up imagine my disgust and rage the upon cutting the burger is half it was full of redness in the burger patty. If Five Points wasn't 35degress outside I would have walked back up hill and thrown the burger in the chefs face. The hype for this place was out of control. I heard rumours of 50-plus lines at lunchtime when the North Sydney office workers spilled out of their cubicles jonesing for a burger fix. God knows they needed a new hotspot to take their attention away from the slew of been-there, done-that eating options littering Miller Street and surrounds. The Bronx was good, nice and sloppy just how I like it, juice dripping down my hands with a patty all up in and around my mouth business, the bun smearing sauce all over my cheeks like some kind of delicious rouge. I like that they've got hot sauce on the table, as well as American mustard and such. Hot sauce goes with everything. Even hot sauce. The bearded owner came over to me and asked me to taste test some new artisan soft drinks he was thinking of stocking, a ginger ale and a chilli orange fizz. The best burger I've tasted in Sydney. Possibly the world and I've travelled a lot. A burger without chips is not really an American burger and the chips here a fantastic too. Like a good little boy, when I am told to go try a new burger joint, how can I refuse...?? O_o If the cue is anything to go by, Five Points is THE place to get a burger in North Sydney. Given that the Bronx burger seemed to have all they had to offer, I ordered it and a side of chips. Compared to Mary's (the favourite of many at the moment) this Five Points burger is an order of magnitude better in pretty much every way. The bun, is still sweeter than I'd like, but the burger is thick and juicy, the cheese is melted and intertwined with the bacon, and oozes out just a little with every bite. That said, after the first bite, the mix of fatty, salty, sweet rendered the rest if the burger both mouthwatering and tasteless. Like eating raw cookie dough, there is a blissful moment of guilty pleasure, but much of the bliss is wasted after the first mouthful. The chips were good, but nothing exceptional. All in all, the experience was good, but.... I won't be going back. Bonarche Burgers in Leichhardt is still the Sydney Burger shop that has my top recommendation, as the individual flavours of all the ingredients intertwine and standout simultaneously. read more

Delicious burgers! There seems to be a surge in old school burgers at the moment; Mary's, Grill'd, The Burger Project, and now Five points. Borrowing from the Five boroughs of NY we get a supposed authentic taste of America. (Haven't been to NY so can't verify.. ;) And boy are they tasty. We went for the Bronx burgers and weren't disappointed. Beautifully char grilled, the pickles were tasty not tart, the bacon was perfectly cooked and the bun soft but not weak. I'd have to put this right up the top, with Mary's a close second. These burgers were a little fatty, but that's where the flavour is, right? Would recommend. Visit #2: Went here this Friday just gone and was quite impressed by the progress this place has made, I originally went the second day in and they have certainly improved! The line was well out the door but we were served and received our meal within 30 mins. A vast improvement!! I decided to order everything the same to compare just over a month on from the first visit. I ordered a Manhattan, Fries & Choc Shake came to $20. The burger looked different when I opened the box but for the better the new buns were much more appealing the burger looked slightly smaller buts that's ok because it was fantastic I loved every minute of eating it. Still not enough Tom Sauce but no worries I added some. The quantity of fries has improved and thy were cooked better too! The shake however to my disappointment was not improved so I won't be getting one again. Also still no slaw available yet it's on the menu?? Overall a much improved experience I give it a 4/5 and the burger itself a 5/5!!! Visit #1: Ventured here today after thinking about it all week, the joint is across the road from my workplace so very convenient! I walked into Five Points at 12.05 the Que was around 7 deep and other people waiting for their orders at that point I was served in around 15 mins and ended up walking out with my burger at 12.40 so a fairly long process!! By the time I left the line was out the door and extended down the sidewalk. Burger was nice, bun tasty, patty cooked perfectly, lettuce crisp and good mix of aioli, mustard and pickles. Could have done with more tomato sauce it was a little too creamy for me, but no worries I just added extra! Chips were tiny for $4 they were tasty but certainly the quantity was not enough for the price! Tried a milkshake wasn't overly impressed lacked in thickness really just tasted like milk to be honest and was tiny. Was disappointed they didn't have slaw something I was looking forward to trying. It's Five Points first week so I'm sure things will die down after a while however in the interim they don't have enough prep space to efficiently turn the volume of burgers around with the demand. Overall the burger was tasty & i give it a 4/5 and it Is very convenient for me however they lose a few points for the above shortcomings therefore the overall experience would be a 3/5...I will try them again in a month or so to see if things improve. read more

Dine in customers enjoy the privilege of 3 different types of free sauces on their table but takeaway customers pay 50c for a squirt of sauce on their chips. I arrived at 11.50 am and ordered the Bronx and a serve of chips. Service: friendly and super quick, even though there were about 6 orders ahead of me. Restaurant is clean with a large communal table and some stools. Food: I love salty food told but both the burger and chips were too salty from the first bite onwards. The bread didn't taste fresh and the texture was crumbly, like you get with old bread. There was lots of bacon, the meat patty was pink and thankfully not bloody. Salt was the prominent flavour which is why I can only rate this a 2 star experience. Value: $13 for the burger alone is a bit steep however, I was willing to pay to see what the hype was about. read more

Great burger, but average chocolate shake. Mine had pieces of ice in the bottom and I personally feel that they should not have ice in them. Five stars for the burger and three stars for the shake so an average of four for the review. If you are reading this Five points, use ice cream only in the shakes and don't make it an extra charge. read more

The Price...Was not bad. I got a Double Patty Bronx burger with a Large Salted Caramel shake, for $24. Some other burger places charge that much for a burger alone. The burger...This was where i was a bit stuck. It was a nice burger, very moist, with flavor.... I couldn't shake this feeling that something tasted very familiar about it. two days later i decided I would go to MacDonalds...Late night craving for a Triple Cheese burger....I worked it out. It tasted like MacDonalds. I don't mean a little bit, i mean significantly. Don't get me wrong...It was a nice burger, really was...A bit enough to almost satisfy my appetite. This is the burger place for those who "arent wild about burgers" ..as it will change your mind..about ever walking into another Maccas/Hungry Jacks an others of those same low quality low priced ilk.The ' Bronx' burger was properly cooked quality juicy beef patty sitting alongside cheese , bacon, tomato lettuce and onion jam on a brioche style bun & makes for a truly tasty lunch.Accompanied by tasty crispy fries (although a tad too salty I found..so u may wanna tell them to "hold the salt" a bit and a slightly too sweet but still very drinkable milkshake(shame on Maccas foThis isr calling THAT thing they make & serve a "milkshake"...surely it has never seen been within cooee of a cow!
