I've never heard of Big Bunz until this year. Hell, I've never heard of Matraville until this year. I can say that I wasn't expecting much since this burger joint is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but sometimes you get those hidden gems in this manner. True to its name, the buns here are big and you get to pick the kind you like as well: milk, brioche, or gluten free (Why.) While the Big Bunz looked appetising, I opted for the Feast combo with an extra patty on a milk bun.
Double grass fed Angus beef, cheese, lettuce, red onion, tomato, pickles, feast sauce
This burger is pretty hefty, so only go double if you're hungry. The beef was great, juicy and medium rare, good texture and seasoned well, though there was a mild aftertaste I couldn't pinpoint but otherwise great. The milk bun was super soft and held everything together and complemented the burger well. The toppings were pretty good too, I was told the feast sauce is like Big Mac sauce but it didn't taste like that to me, it was much more subtle and reminded me more of Whopper sauce. A little more flavour would kick the sauce up a notch, but the other ingredients were fresh and tasty. As a side note, the hand cut chips were awesome, I never usually remark on chips but they're very reminiscent of Five Guys chips in the U.S. which I'm a big fan of. All in all, a great experience and I will be back for more.
