The beef burger and chips I had at Bare Grill were absolutely delicious - the chips had a great seasoning and the patty was cooked to perfection (still juicy). Double american cheese and pickles are always welcomed and Bare Grill hit the nail on the head. My only disapproval with this place is the lack of organisation. The line of people on a Sunday was out the door and was weaving through the few tables setup inside. This cafe has a poor layout and the workers seemed frazzled and unaware. No serviettes readily available for eat-in patrons and I had to go back and wait a few minutes to ask for sauce for our chips, these things may sound minor but it could all be easily fixed for a perfect dining experience. read more

Bigger than you dare imagine, and it's dripping with perfectly melted cheese, with a big BARE GRILL brand on the top bun so you don't forget where you are when you're two hands deep in burg. I nearly didn't make it all the way through, and I certainly didn't need dinner. Glorious, glorious, glorious. And the chilli cheese fries, well, happy days. Amazing night out!! Just spent my Thursday evening chowing down on one hell of a messy burger.. if it wasn't for yelp events I probably would have never made it out this far. I ordered the "cowboy burger". Now when I read the description which was pulled pork with coleslaw.. I expected to get just that.. but when this massive burger came my way there was a beef patty and cheese on it as well. Looking at this massive burger trying to figure out where to start Ben came around with a knife which was a great call! By cutting it in half you have a bit more control but i warn you now be prepared to get your hand dirty. The atomosphere of this place is great.. the kitchen is exposed so you can see what is actually going on behind-the-scenes! I did notice with a full house the place was a bit warm but other than that this place had great service and great quality of food :) read more

Recommended by a friend from my university, we stopped over for dinner. The place is really nice, it is open air and a very wonderful setup. It is not fancy, but it does not have to! The staff and cooks that served me were very nice. Service is A+ when I was there. The price is very good for the portion size and most importantly, is delicious! The burger patty are full of flavour. I picked "The Cure" and it the beef was well grilled to perfectly in which was not dry to eat. I highly recommend ordering their chips & waffle chips. I ordered both, but the burger and chips stood out the most! I really love this place and would love to come back with my entire family and other relatives. I was on a business trip to Sydney from California. What a long flight! We got to the house we were staying at in Little Bay, then drove down to Bare Grill. And we were glad we did! Now for the review... In a nutshell... very very good burgers. The seasoning is perfect and all the flavors melt in your mouth. Maybe a bit too much seasoning on the fries, but they were still very tasty... enough crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The bun was toasted perfectly, fresh and soft, but enough strength to handle many layers. My colleague ordered the special which was called the Bare Essentials. That was so impressive I broke out my DSLR to take a real photo (go check it out and "like" my photo if it makes you hungry). You must see it to believe it. How cool is that name ehh! I read about Bare Grill on a best of list with a pretty good rap. Located right across the water at La Perouse is this swell cafe that serves up a simple seafood menu, salads, souvlaki and burgers. Burger menu, mainly beef but with a couple of chicken, fish, pork and veg burgers scattered in the mix. They served 2 behemoth beef burgers, one with 4 patties ($25) and one with a mega 7 patties ($35)..dude! I ordered the Bare Grill burger with grass fed beef, cheese, tomato, sautéed onions and house sauce... And for good measure I added some pickles. They char their logo into the top of every bun and it looks killer. It's unique, it's special and it's a great idea. The Burger cost 10 clams and it was amazing value. The Burger was big and the pattie was also, big. It puts Jacks Burger at Newtown to shame with their tiny $10 burg. Bun was a milk bun and it was superb. Creamy, held together nicely, fair compression.. Excellent bun and with the logo on top, it was probably the best looking burger bun I'd seen. Pattie was epic. Generously chunky, perfect size for the bun, charred crust, pink middle, large grind size, no herbs spices apart from seasoning. It could not tick any more boxes. Oh I forgot, it was mega juicy with meaty juicy goodness flowing out of the pattie and into my basket. Epic dude! The thing I liked most about the sautéed onions was their subtleness. They were chopped super fine and they added tremendously but without almost any sign of an oniony taste. Pickles were awesome and added a nice acidic action whilst simultaneously adding texture crunch. The house sauce was very nice, probably halfway between a Mary's sauce and thousand island. Salad was fresh but I would have much preferred the lettuce to be in cup/leaf form instead of shredded - it just made for a messier experience but they're not going to lose points for it. It would appear that I'm on a roll picking out the best burg joints in Sydney of late (if you've read my prior reviews). Bare Grill is no exception and I have no hesitation in stating they are up in the top of the Sydney burger class. Highly recommended. It's home of the Fatties and branded buns. Located in historical La Perouse, between Little Congwong Beach aka nude beach and Frenchmans Bay, and close proximity to Bare Island, you can tell where the Bare Grill name comes from. Great airy space makes it a perfect lunch spot or afternoon snacks after a swim or a walk at the beach. My recommendation would be to try the Waffle Fries. It's a cris-cross cut fries topped with pulled pork, melted cheese and sauce. They were amazingly tasty! The burger is seriously good. As if the Bare Burger is not big enough, I ordered the BIG Bare Burger. It's double grilled grass fed beef patties, cheese, bacon, sautéed onion, lettuce and sauce on branded milk buns. The patties were thick and juicy, the sauces were just right and everything else balanced well. Burger bidness This place delivered the goods. I kept hearing about this place and I kept forgeting to eat here. The menu is good, some of it there is no way I could even order it. Ridiculous in a good way...... We split a choc shake sweet chocolaty goodness through each inhalation of the straw. Fries were cooked perfect, they had a good taste I'm not sure if it was from the oil but these had a golden crunch. My burger was excellent, the caramelised onion the cheese spewing out the sides and mustard and ketchup oozing with the cheese. I thoroughly enjoyed my burger. My other half got a chicken burger with no aioli but ketchup and mustard and mentioned how good it was. Although a bit of a drive I was tempted by the Fatties page. The burgers were a great size and nice flavour but I wouldn't bother going back which is why I gave a three. Cheese was melted on meat which was good. Beef needed some salt and pepper or something. Chips nice and crunchy. Setting ok, service quiet but not bad. Just not something I die over. Nothing tastes better than a Bare Grill burger after a morning swim at La Perouse! My friend had heard great things about this joint so we headed up to Bare Grill from the beach. I ordered the Bare Grill Burger which is $10 and for an extra $5 you can get chips/salad and a drink. OK, so I love McDonald's Big Mac burgers, but what I hate about them, is the quality of meat and the fact that they hurt your stomach shortly after eating them. The house sauce which is put on Bare Grill is just like Big Mac sauce but the burger is 50 times better!! Huge "grilled grass fed beef" meat patty, lettuce, tomato, cheese, sauteed onion and the delicious house sauce. If you haven't had a burger here - GO NOW. RUN! Came here after I saw Yelp's post about the Fatties burger. At $13 it's a pretty good deal, add $5 for chips and a drink and it's not too shabby at all. The food is cooked promptly and the people here are nice, and the burger looks awesome too. I had pretty high expectations after seeing the photo but I was kind of let down...the bun completely falls apart with this burger so your hands become a hot mess of grease. While I love my greasy burgers, the meat was really bland to the point I couldn't taste it. It's overwhelmed by the cheese and burger sauce which is pretty good, but when the feature of a burger should be the beef, this fails to deliver. I was happy when I got a bite of bacon and pickles in the burger as they were something distinct I could actually taste. I will revisit to try their other burgers. read more

Try the Hangover! It's a burger with fish, hashbrowns, egg, chips and you don't need to have a hangover to know that it's super delicious! That's a special burger though so I don't know if they have it on the menu regularly. The other burger I tried was the bare grill burger and the grass fed beef was cooked just right. One thing that's unique about this place, apart from their awesome burgers is that they brand all their burger patties with the words "Bare Grill". And if you don't feel like burgers, they make delicious ribs too! I'm embarrassed that I've lived so close to this fantastic establishment for so many years without ever visiting or even knowing it existed! Checked it out last Saturday with a mate who is somewhat of a burger aficionado who had apparently been wanting to try it for ages. Having never tried a "Philly Cheese Steak", it perked my interest so put in an order with chips and my buddy ordered the "Fatties Burger". We waited for about 30min to get our food and were starting to get restless when it happened; the waitress brought over our two dishes and we got stuck right in. The Philly Cheese Steak was incredible - but as I have never had one before, I have no comparison. My mate however, was speechless the entire time he was eating - only letting out the odd moan here and there. After eating + not speaking for the duration of the meal, he wiped his face, pointed at the plate and said "that was hands down, the best burger I've ever had. Ever". Nuff-said. /review read more

Wow, if you are in La Perouse you should check Bare Grill out. Their burgers are insane and will satisfy any burger craving. I had the trip, which had bacon, cheese, hash brown, onion ring, and truffle mayo. The burger was HUGE, but wow was it amazing. The bun was so buttery and everything just melted all together with a hint of truffle from the truffle mayo. The hash brown was a bit unnecessary. It was a forty minute drive just to try this place out and it was worth it. Snuggled in the bays of La Perouse between Fish and Chip restaurants is this neat little cafe which houses some mighty fine burgers; burgers that will absolutely and without a shadow of a doubt obliterate any and all traces of hunger which you may be experiencing. It was just past two in the afternoon. The tail end of the lunchtime rush was wreaking havoc in the cafe's kitchen. Myself and my partner walked in and flipped through one of their menus. A burger each, and some "epic fries" to share. I went with the "The Fatties" burger at $14. Double beef patties, American cheddar, bacon, and Bare sauce. Do not underestimate this burger! It will shave ten years off of your life expectancy with each delicious mouth full. The Bare sauce and melted cheddar combine powers and will literally ooze out of the sides. Luckily for us we were given a metric tonne of napkins. This was the first burger in my life that I needed a twenty minute rest before I could finish the second half. The only issue I had was the slices of pickles (not mentioned in the description). They were sliced rather haphazardly, making them sometimes overpowering or hardly there. It was the roulette of pickles. My partner had "The Big Bare" at $15. She managed to get through half of it before she conceded defeat. It was another epic burger which packed a whole lot of punch. The onions were fried just perfectly, where they weren't too soft nor burnt black. A nice touch and something I missed on The Fatties. Our shared side dish was some Epic Fries at $15. Golden waffle fires, coated with pulled pork chunks, cheese, spiced aioli, Carolina Sticky BBQ sauce, bacon and shallots. This was just sensational. The spiced aioli was the standout flavour among a cast of standout flavours. Instead of eating in the cafe, with the recommendation of another Yelper, we took a blanket (free to borrow from the cafe) to the glassy hillside and enjoyed our own personal water view in the nice Autumn sun. Next time my partner and I agreed just to order one Epic Fries and one burger to share. The only downside was waiting 25 minutes after ordering (which is closer to 50 minutes in Hungry Time). Pleasant is not the word I would use describe my overall experience with this place. Unfortunately, this was the eatery my wife and I chose to have our 4th wedding anniversary dinner at last night. After seeing the beautiful pictures of their burgers and other delightful grilled dishes I may have gone into this expecting a bit too much. The red flags were there from the start. The woman behind the counter stared at me blankly, as a first time customer, I did not feel welcome. There was only one menu available at the counter that I was told to take with me to my table. But which was my table? Despite booking, it turned out there wasn't one. We instead sat on stools at the counter by the window, which was not terrible as there was a nice view, however, it was dirty. Walking across the dining area left me with chips squished into my shoes and melted cheese and rubbish greeted me when I sat down. I decided to order the half-rack of ribs and my wife the bare grilled burger meal which was $45 all up, about what I would expect for specialty food. Again, the woman at the register came across as impatient and told me to find a number from an empty table to use as our own. Very unprofessional. My receipt said that my server was "the owner" which I sincerely hope was not the case. We waited 45 mins for our food. The kitchen was getting slammed, mainly by takeaway orders. It was actually a strange thing to see none of the eat-in patrons with food on their tables while groups of 4-5 picking up large orders and leaving. The food itself was delicious and the reason for its popularity. The meat fell off the bone, succulent, flavoursome. The burger was an Australian style, juicy, melt in your mouth experience. However, it still miffs me that a place that brand their burgers is so lacking in character. Our dining experience was constantly disrupted by the chefs yelling the name of the kitchen hand (Rav?) who I feel very sorry for. He was working the floor, out the back AND cleaning. So it was no surprise the melted cheese on my table remained overlooked. On a better day or if I had written this before bed, I would have given the place 3.5/5. Instead, I write this in the early hours of the morning after being woken up by stomach pain and other nasty things. If you go to this place, order ahead (if they allow this) and take it away. The Half Pork Ribs/Half Steak set is to die for. The pork ribs especially is the main dish that makes me want to come back to Bare Grill. The best pork ribs out there. The bbq tangy sauce is the star of the dish. The steak is tender but just a normal steak. Nothing special. read more

I've been to Bare Grill twice now. The first time for burgers, and the second for brunch. I had a fish burger and tried the beef burger. Both were nicely cooked, although the fish burger is crumbed fish so it's hard to taste the fish flavour as it's somewhat overpowered by the crumbs. I love the logo etched on the buns, I think this indicates the passion the owners and managers have for this place. The brunch was eggs benedict with salmon and a caramel milkshake. Bare Grill in La Perouse was certainly worth the trek - we really enjoyed their sides and their burgers are simply amazing. They're part of ompty so expect to see the occasional special pop up now and then when you're looking for a deal and trust me it's definitely worth it. I'd consider them a strong contender amongst Sydney's best burgers. They have just opened a new store in Surry Hills for those adverse to travel. read more
