a menu for burgers and dogs

This has been a consistently blah experience. Service without a smile. At the end of our meal my husband wanted a bag to put our fries into take home. I stood there for 2 orders going out and tried to get the ladies attention. Nope! She never wanted to look my way. It wasn't just her. No one in the whole place ever made eye contact for me to ask for a simple thing like a bag. I then stood pressing against the front counter. Nope! Still nothing. Finally my husband told me never mind. They do NOT want to help you. I'm just wondering are we the only people this happens to at this place. Or is the staff just not interested in customer service? I give service a 1 star. The burgers are greasy with no flavor. I love 5 guys buns. The topping are good too. And I do like that they will put any of the sauces on the side. But then their fries are limp and not crisp. Wimpy wimpy wimpy fries. Even my nephew that loves 5 guys said the fries were wimpy. I'm giving them 3 stars because they have such potential. It was dirty too. Tables had food bits. We wiped our table and food out of our seats before we could sit and eat. The floor in the in tire place was dirty. We only go because my nephew likes five guy. I just wonder if it is just location that needs help

This is definitely not my typical Five Guys experience....but it's definitely noteworthy, as another customer was in line sharing the same sentiments to me ...... I have a short lunch break so I decided to pre-order online. After my payment, a notification popped up saying my order would be ready in 10 minutes. Well it takes 12 minutes for me to get to this location so that was just perfect. When I arrived there were no other patrons and 5 employees were behind the counter. When I approached the counter I was asked my name and my bag of food was immediately located and I was told my sandwich was complete but they don't cook the fries until you arrive. I was a little annoyed by that because I preordered intentionally so I wouldn't have to wait. Not only did it take another 11 minutes for me to receive my completed order with my fries, my burger had been sitting there the entire time, under no heat lamp, and was no longer hot. During my wait, another pre-order customer walked in and met the same fate, and complained to me the entire time saying "if I wanted to wait til would've just ordered when I got here!" I'm not sure if this is the customary procedure, but it could certainly use revamping! It's common that waits are longer these days due to reduced staffing and limited products. But it appeared, in this case, there was not a staff shortage.....and my items were present, just organized poorly. If this is the current employee expectation, I highly recommend to management a revising of your online order process. If it is not, please reiterate to the staff at this location what the requirements are for more customer friendly interactions.

All the way Bacon burger

First and foremost...WWOOOWW!!! The food is amazing!!! And the crazy thing is I haven't even tried my all the way hot dog yet!! The service is amazing also. They are patient and when ordering the food is being dropped because the Short order cooks are attentive. The atmosphere is great too. This establishment is clean and there is good music!!! There's no need to write a review about the all the way hot dog because I know it will be good!!! If you're looking for a burger joint....THIS IS THE PLACE WHERE YOU WANT TO GO. And they have some of the best fries I have ever had and I'm a loyal Chick-fil-A waffle fries and rally's French fries kind of guy. My father is a very picky eater and he said this is the best burger that he has EVER HAD!!! And that's saying a lot because he's 78. So I'd you're in Virginia period..anywhere in the world , check out 5 guys!!!! If you're in Virginia Beach, check out the staff in the Nimmo Parkway location. They deserve a raise all!!!! Thank you for such great service and divine food!!! These employees are the definition of service and whoever put them there is the best!!! Thank you

Bacon cheeseburger and Cajun fries. Yum!

Food is delicious. Only come here every once in while. They need to clean the tables off for their guests because most of them are dirty. The Bacon cheeseburger is highly recommended. The Cajun fries are always good and crispy. This is an average five guys. Nothing fancy.

I ordered the Sunrise Burger, subbing hot honey for the mayo and oh-mah-gawsh that was an excellent decision. (The burgers are a little on the smaller side, but I found it to be the perfect size.) I told my husband that the onion rings were some of the best I've ever had. Kyle was our server, and he was incredible--attentive despite being a little overwhelmed. It's darker on the inside because of the wood paneling, but it works for the saloon-adjacent vibe it's going for. Highly recommend!

So when one of the Homies told me about this place I was all in because - burgers - what's not to love. Barrel 17 did not disappoint; when i got there i realized quickly i was the last to know because it was busy. We had about a 10 minute wait to be seated but that was cut short by option to sit at the bar. The bartender was working like she had six arms. It was non stop; attentive, taking orders, making drinks, checking back with others, she was truly impressive. The places was jumping; it was busy, casual and didn't slow down from the time we arrived until we left. Parking is challenging, there's a small lot beside the restaurant and a small lot behind it so if you can car pool you'll benefit yourselves. Now on to the star of the show - the food! The only knock I had was portion size. In a big guy with an even bigger appetite and when i left there i could've eaten my whole meal over again lol. But that's also because it was delicious. I got the mac n cheese starter, the Beast Burger, tater tots , and the biggest slice of chocolate cake I've ever had. Literally the biggest slice of cake ever- twice the size of my burger. Everything was delicious, from start to finish and if i were a person that had a normal appetite i would've left full like my friends did. Will definitely be back!

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

Frank and Patty’s - Burgers, tendies & fries

The menu is small but very intentionally focused. They offer smash burgers done right, the iconic Norfolk snap dog, ice-cold beers, wine, and classic cocktails, and the prices are honestly great for the quality. The space itself feels like an old-school local diner in the best way. Bar stools, cozy seating, and that nostalgic, no-frills vibe that makes you want to hang out longer than planned. It's small, so definitely expect a wait during busy times, but it's absolutely worth it. They also have outdoor seating, which will be clutch once the warm weather really kicks in. I ordered a Modelo, the F&P style fries, and the Mickey Burger. The fries are next-level, very much giving In-N-Out animal style vibes topped with grilled onions, Goodboy sauce, and cheese. I could eat those alone and be happy. The Mickey Burger comes with a double patty, cheese, Goodboy sauce, pickles, lettuce, onions, and a sesame bun. I subbed the raw onions for grilled onions (highly recommend), and it was perfection. Juicy, crispy-edged, flavorful ... everything a smash burger should be. I truly can't express how good this place is. The service was great, the food was unreal, and I'm already planning my next visit. Next time, I'm definitely trying their espresso martini. Frank and Patty's has officially turned me into a burger person, and I'm not mad about it.

The Good: Really liked the food (dog for me and burger for my son) as well as fries each. I'm a little picky about my hot dogs but was very happy here. It had the perfect amount of ketsup, relish and mustard for me. Sons burger was very good too. Fries were pretty good but kind of pricey for the amount given. The Bad: Finding this place is a pain especially if you are not familiar with the beach area and the noise level is quite loud as it is inside a garage. The server (at the bar) was very friendly and it was a quick meal, under 30 minutes. Hindsite: only get 1 fry and save room for the banana pudding the next time. We will return for sure.

The other entree we ordered was the black and bleu burger (I'm a huge bleu cheese lover) and the crumbles added the perfect contrast with the savory patty. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations from the start. Our reservation was at 5:45 PM, and after nearly two hours, we left at 7:30 PM without ever receiving our entrees, and some of our drinks never arrived either. What made matters more frustrating was the lack of communication. Our server came back 3 times to tell us they were out of ingredients for drinks we had ordered, but never offered alternatives or clarified what was available, leaving us stuck and repeatedly restarting the process. We were never checked on and he only came by to tell us our food wasn't ready or they couldn't make what we ordered. To make matters worse, several tables seated around us, many with larger parties were fully served, finished their meals, and left while we were still waiting. It was incredibly discouraging and made us feel completely overlooked. Overall, this experience was extremely frustrating, poorly managed, and not at all what we expected. We will not be returning.

Ladies if you look good he might let you slide on free items (I've seen it myself) but fellas he's gonna hassle you even for sour cream if you don't tip him enough to his satisfaction and then complain to your face about it if you're a regular. To those that care: The specific incident that caused my review was I had went in on a tuesday for their "taco Tuesday" special. Now because I work by the oceanfront I frequent this place. I've been told they aren't supposed to let you walk out with to go orders on their taco Tuesday, but if I pay for and eat some of my food who is this manager to say I can't leave with a to go box(which in most cases I have), but I digress. I tried to do it today and the manager comes to me with a nasty attitude over me not tipping enough for his standards telling me I can't take my food to go because he doesn't feel I tip enough and "what's a 5 dollar tip gonna do for him". Keep in mind I told him I'm not ordering food for just myself I sometimes take lunch orders from work which is never more than 5 to go small tacos. I've never been rude to this man I'm a quiet person so I usually order wait and leave. I work for a reputable company that sees a lot of tourism and I often recommended this spot to our guests but due to this situation I will be advising people to avoid this place if you're not just going to drink at the end of the night on The Weekend. In the specific event the owner of the restaurant was there and confirmed they weren't supposed to be doing to go tacos which I can respect. What I dont respect is the manager picking and choosing when he wants to follow the rules of the establishment for his own gain.
