I went here to buy lunch for my family last week. After I ordered I gave them 100$ bill. The bill was 70$. The cashier told me they don't accept 100$ bills. I then asked her for the manager. She called the manager and the manager rolled her eyes at me. She said how can I help you. I told her my bill was 70$ and I'm paying with cash. She said she will not accept it. I then agreed. Manager went back to cooking. I then tried using a 50$ bill and 2 10$ bills. The cashier called the manager again. The manager rudely told me She won't accept that as well. I told her why? It's cash!?!?! She then accused me of using fake money. I told her to test it! She refused to check it. I used to love this place until this happened to me and my family. Today was my very first time ever going inside this restaurant. Upon entering the cashier, whose name was Toni (a young gal), was extremely nice and on top of her job. I asked her if I could have a few minutes to look over the menu as I had never been in there before and it was my first time. She immediately went into explaining all the different types of foods that they offer and how the sides don't cost extra if you add more. She was very very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. For somebody who's never been in there she explained it to me very clearly and helped me to understand what we wanted. She even requested the cook put a speed on the time to hurry the food as she had overheard me talking about having an appointment within 20 minutes after me ordering. Ordered an extra cheese on my burger, I unwrapped the burger from the aluminum foil and all the cheese were not even on my sandwich. The buns were very soggy, there was no mayonnaise on my burger even though I had asked for mayonnaise. The fries were very soggy, very oily, and were just thrown around the paper bag. I have been inside the Five Guys location in Tacoma many times when I pick up DoorDash orders. I finally ordered a deliver with FG and it was great. I like crispy fries, but, these soft fries were really good. The great thing was my bacon burger. So very good. So I ended up ordering the same the next day and added shakes. Yummy! Was out delivering and got hungry a couple of days later so I came in to order and I have to say I get the hype. The food is good and good quality. I have to give recognition to a crew member. Matthew is a very good employee. No matter how good the food is, there is always hundreds of places that serve good food. Employees will make or break any business. This employee secured a loyal customer. During these times, people are understandably "stressed out" I appreciate someone that can turn my day around with his eagerness to work hard and with a very great presence. In fact, there are new employees, each and everytime I eat from here. Also, this is most employee's first cooking job. It isn't like a seasoned chef is looking for employment here. Ok this place is not as good as the establishments we have eaten in Texas. Young staff was struggling to make our burgers for our family in terms of getting the correct ingredients on each burger and some of the beef patties were to well done. In other words, really dry with a crispy edge, so it had some 'chew' in it, like eating worn leather. Fries were great, fresh, nice crispness with plenty of salt or Cajun seasoning. Staff was kind of polite just not engaging, just going through the motions to get through their shift, they looked tired. Cleanliness of the dining area was ok but looks like they were short staff this night, but a staff member was trying to keep it clean. I haven't had Five Guys in over 2 years, so I was really excited to eat here. I ordered online which was hassle free, and shortly after my man went to go pick it up. When he got there, the crew seemed very disorganized as it took them nearly 15 minutes to give us our food. All we ordered was a little cheeseburger, bacon cheeseburger, cajun fries, and a fountain drink. When he got home so we could eat, I opened up the bag and our cajun fries were literally E V ER Y W H E R E. And let me tell you about these fries. They were WAY too over seasoned. You could definitely tell at first glance because the seasoning was like, clumping up together on the fries. The seasoning was covering the foil that wrapped our burgers too. The whole thing was just a mess. We couldn't even finish the fries. I was very disappointed because this whole order was about $26. The burgers themselves were okay, not the best I've ever had. My burger was pink so I had to microwave the patty to cook it longer, and the lettuce had a few brown spots. Ugh. I just wish the fries were actually edible. When I crave a good burger, 5 Guys are my Go-to! The burgers are always made exactly as ordered. Even when they're busy, the wait isn't too bad. Especially when you can pass the time with free peanuts! One thing I really appreciate about 5 Guys, is how clean it is. Every time! On our last visit, they were slow, and while there, we watched the crew wipe down nearly every surface, empty the trash, & wash the windows. Not a typical Five Guys Experience. First off it's even more expensive than normal. I just ate lunch, had a burger small fry and small drink and it was $12.24! I would rather have eaten at Jack N The Box for less than half the price... Upon receiving my order I ate the fries and pulled out the burger to find that it was a soggy mess. Now I know these burgers are not meant to be crispy but this thing would not even stay in one piece. Finally, a location closer to home! I can't help it. I'm a 5Guys fanboy. This location is like all the others. Great diner style burgers with unlimited toppings and fresh cut fries. This location is close to the Tacoma Mall. The night I stopped in was in the middle of the holiday shopping season so I expected it to be flooded with shoppers. There were about 5 tables in use and two groups ahead of me. My wait was less than ten minutes. If you've read any of my other reviews about burger joints in Tacoma you'll know this is nothing less than a Christmas miracle. Been to this Five Guys twice now, once ordered at the counter and once ordered online. The online ordering is soooo easy, a little too convenient. Yiiiiiikes! I really appreciate this burger joint's gluten free options. You can either get a bowl (never tried) or get a lettuce bun. I know that sounds really sad and boring, but the patties and toppings are so flavorful that it's really a delicious experience. It's so easy to order, they don't act like you're ordering something weird. They also ask if you have a gluten allergy so they can prepare your food in a safe environment. I just really appreciate the care they take. So, the burgers are delicious. Great toppings, flavorful, juicy patties. Mushrooms, onions, yum! My other favorite part of Five Guys is their FRIES. FRY AVALANCHE!. First off the customer service is great! The toppings are bar none. No other burger place on the planet has the variety of toppings for no extra charge, or the conveniance of just saying "all the way" for about 10 toppings. The prices are great! As soon as we stepped in the door, we were right at the end of the line. It proceeded fairly quickly, and we soon ordered and were seated. The ambiance of Five Guys is...loud. Really loud. Grilling, frying and order screaming. Our order was soon out. Five Guys really shines with it's portion sizes. The cups of fries spilled out into the bottom of the bag, but the cup was still full. We ordered both regular and Cajun fries, both of which were great. The burger size and flavor make them some of the best you can get in the area, especially for the size.
