Don't forget to get your free peanuts!

I really like this location. Good amount of seating, always clean, service is always great. It's Five Guys- the fries are salty greasy perfection- the best among "fast" food chains, never had an issue with the burgers. The free salted roasted peanuts that customers can snack on while they wait for their food are actually part of the five guys experience that I love. I've lately been obsessed w their grilled cheese sandwich + patty, it's like... an elevated cheeseburger.

Wow, sixty bucks flushed immediately down the toilet. I ordered three burgers (two of them little size), three drinks, and two large fries... and everything was pretty much terrible. The burger meat was crumbling and tasteless, the fries soggy, and the cheap cheese barely melted. Almost all the drink options in the "soda dispenser" were empty and no employees seemed to care. Also, an annoying electronic beep from the ice machine would "ding" and "beep" every ten seconds and after I asked an employee to please fix it or unplug the machine... they just shrugged and said "we don't know how to fix it". I said "so it just beeps all day?", they replied "yes" and continued making terrible burgers. This meal was comparable to a low-rate school lunch except it was $58 more expensive. Eeeeeesh, what a let down.

If you're craving beef, like I was today, I like Five Guys more than that other chain near Grand Central. Online I ordered the regular burger- most toppings are free including onions and green peppers and the grilled varieties of each. I forgot that the regular burger is two patties. The Little Burger has one patty and is more than enough for all but the most ravenous appetites. Their hand cut freshly made French fries are the best in the fast food industry. Their burger and all its ingredients are fresh and delicious. The only thing I don't like is their beef is not yet anti-biotic free.

Found a Five Guys closer to me :D There is a decent number of tables available at this location. When you enter, napkins, ketchup, straws, Heinz Malt Vinegar, etc. will be to your right. The cashiers are friendly and quick to take your order. Hold on to the receipt, because once your order is ready, they will call your number out. Similar to most other Five Guys, a Regular (their smallest size) order of fries is more than enough for 2 people to share. They serve up two types of fries: Five Guys Style (plain) and Cajun Style. If you like Old Bay seasoning, I suggest you try their Cajun Style. The meat patty is always juicy. The quality of their buns aren't the best, but I guess this is one way to keep the prices reasonable. I am a big fan of their unlimited toppings (ie. Pickles, Grilled Mushrooms, Jalapeno Peppers, Grilled Onions). All of which are FREE. A friend of mine decided to try their Veggie Sandwich. Instead of a Veggie Patty, the sandwich consists of a bun and as many veggie toppings as you wish. I took a bite of her sandwich and wasn't blown away. Maybe it's because I enjoy having a patty of some sort in my burger. I appreciate that they grill the vegetables and meat on separate grilling stations. If you aren't a fan of this type of Veggie Sandwich, they also offer a grilled cheese sandwich. Happy Eating!

They are so full of it here! WTF, I walk into Five Guys and what do I see? Three guys and one lady! There were NOT five guys. That's false advertising if you ask me. However, the place was clean, my 880 calorie cheeseburger was good and the fries were very, very tasty. I am not much of a soda drinker but they had caffeine free Diet Coke on tap. Yes, I'm the guy that eats 1200 calories of burger and fries and then gets a diet soda. But when I do it, it's charming. This is a good spot on the East Side.

I like the fast service for food people know and are familiar with. I like the location of this place. The prices remain the same and relatively low. Which is great since it allows for healthy competition with other places. With many other places to eat, Five Brothers stand out with their free peanuts. Quick service that doesn't disappoint. You can refill your soda cup with unlimited drinks at the smart soda machines. This place gives you options: Gold's ice tea or a choice of an array of Pepsi products. I ordered the vegetarian sandwich. As always it tastes delicious. The fries can taste better. I like the spices they use in them. You have a dining area. During lunch it gets crowded very easily. Go to this place around 1:30pm during weekdays. You will get a spot to sit and enjoy. I give this place 3 stars because it looks a bit dirty.

Extra fries amount for a large!

Five guys is taking fast food to another level. All their patties are freshly made including their fries. They also have the fancy coke machine where you can make any drink imaginable. I ended up ordering the hamburger (2 patties) and a large Cajun fries with a medium drink. PRO TIP - ask for ur fries in a separate bag otherwise all the extra fries they throw in will be on top of ur burger and make the wrapper super greasy. Pro tip #2 - make sure you hit the gym beforehand and have a clear schedule ahead. This is a fulfilling burger with plenty of calories and grease. It will cause extreme food coma and serious regret (work out before) 1. Hamburger - two huge patties with all the toppings I want (make sure to get the grilled mushrooms and grilled peppers). Expect a greasy burger! 2. Large Cajun fries - all fries are made fresh. They are heaven. Ask for extra seasoning. Just be wary they throw in extra fries in the bag so a small will do but I like my fries... The only reason why it gets a negative star is that it lets homeless hang out at the establishment so their smell was overwhelming despite the heavenly smell of grease and fries. I felt like they should have asked the homeless to leave as multiple of them came in and didn't order food. Additionally - they stopped by my table to ask for food which I was happy to give away but others may not appreciate it.

Five Guys potato friers are busy indeed.

We were thrilled to find two seats at the end of the bar when we arrived. As luck would have it, the two gentlemen next to us eventually left, allowing us to slide over and enjoy an even better view of the TV for the rest of the game. I started with a Tito's and club soda, but unfortunately, something seemed off--perhaps the club soda was flat. The drink just wasn't good. To their credit, the bartender took it back without hesitation and was very accommodating. I then ordered a Negroni after the woman sitting next to us highly recommended it. I don't usually drink gin, but this cocktail was absolutely delicious and changed my mind. Since we were there for several hours, we shared an order of zucchini and eggplant chips and happily snacked on them throughout the game. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, with a nice mix of ages and people enjoying the evening. We made sure to leave our bartender a generous tip since we occupied our seats for the entire game. Even though the Knicks didn't pull out a win that night, we certainly didn't leave defeated. I'd happily return for another game, cocktail, and fun evening out. And maybe even get dinner there. Little did I know there was another big room in the ack once you past the restrooms. They were having a thriving business there!

He was constantly busy zippin around but maintained a nice demeanor and made everyone feel welcome! Must orders of mine: the burger! Although small, it comes out piping hot and the fresh white onion between the bottom bun and burger is awesome because it doesn't make the bottom bun soggy and catches all the juices from the actual meat. Love subbing the fries for a Caesar salad! Standout appetizer is the fried zucchini and eggplant with tzatziki-- crispy, hot, juicy and I get it every time!

Next, our waiter accidentally put in 2 pastas instead of a burger we ordered but had that fixed immediately and took it off our tab which was a super nice surprise. Monkey Bar became one of my favorite Midtown restaurants because its modern history ran almost…read moreperfectly alongside my years in New York. I arrived in 2008 with very little, and when Graydon Carter revived the restaurant in 2009, I was beginning a rise of my own, first at a large global bank and then, to my astonishment, at one of the city's most powerful investment firms. The suits were daily, the walls were gold, and the pressure was so consuming that even success could feel like a form of attrition. After a few years, I moved to a smaller firm with Southern roots, where the culture was more humane, the work gave me greater autonomy, and I produced some of the strongest results of my career, even within an industry still governed by fear, greed, and status. Inside, the red booths, low lighting, generous spacing, and hand-painted monkey murals made lunch feel ceremonial without becoming stiff. The room was timeless and handsome, with polished service, quality food, and the subtle assurance of a place where you could be proud to bring someone important. I especially remember sitting in one of those booths with two mentors, each only a few years older than I was and therefore close enough in vintage to feel relatable, trustworthy, and genuinely within reach. One had entered my life after I left the larger firm and helped me understand an earlier chapter that had also ended abruptly and, at the time, felt deeply unfair; the other had guided me through the smaller firm where I finally found a more sustainable way to work. Over that long lunch, I introduced them, we discussed several promising ideas, and for a moment my career seemed to have reached the point where relationships, experience, and opportunity were finally converging. One of those ideas consumed an extraordinary amount of my time and energy, and I believed it might become the foundation of my next chapter. Instead, the arrangement eventually turned on me, the role I thought I had earned never materialized, and the business itself sputtered. My professional life, financial footing, and pride all collapsed just as COVID was beginning. Then Monkey Bar closed in 2020, which made the ending feel almost unnervingly complete: the restaurant, the city, and the version of myself built around New York finance all went dark at once. For years, I experienced that ending as devastating and unfair; now I can see it as wisdom delivered through an unnecessarily rough process. The restaurant's later revival by a Chicago hospitality group feels fitting because it still honors tradition and ceremony while allowing the old forms to evolve into something healthier, looser, and more current. I have not been back since that lunch, but a return now would feel like visiting the museum of my past, not reclaiming a life that asked too much, gave too little, and finally lost its hold on me. Even now, I remember Monkey Bar as a great Midtown lunch in a memorable room, surrounded by the residue of old ambitions and the gratitude of having survived them. The cocktails were sharp, the service was impeccable, and the dining room carried that glamorous old New York energy without feeling trapped by it. I remain deeply fond of the place, partly for what it was and partly for what it witnessed. Some restaurants become attached to a chapter of your life, and Monkey Bar holds mine with unusual grace.
