We found an adorable part of town to walk through and then we spotted Moonlit Burgers and decided to stop for lunch. They have limited table service in the sense that you place your order with the cashier when you walk in and they bring your food out to you a little bit later on. They even checked on us a few times while we ate. Very nice staff too! The restaurant is a good size with lots of tables for two and few bigger tables as well. They also have a separate bar if you want something other than soda with your burgers. I ordered the Moonlit Smashburger and the hubby ordered a chicken sandwich; we also ordered fries and a drink to share. The cup for the drink was super duper tiny though, and we weren't sure about refills so we just took shallow sips. Next time we'll make sure to get two drinks. The smashburger was so good!! Everything a smashburger should be. The moon sauce was tangy and complimented the meat so well. And those crispy edges!! The fries were nice and crisp too and the hubby thoroughly enjoyed his chicken sandwich. We left the restaurant satisfied and full!!

We really enjoyed talking to her. The biscuits & gravy platter was phenomenal. Everything was homemade and unbelievably delicious. The gravy was so creamy and the sausage was so flavorful. Homemade Corn Beef really made my husband's breakfast. So flavorful and crunchy. Unbelievable! My mom absolutely loved the cinnamon French toast. It was super cinnamon. The homemade sausage was to die for. The band really made it. Love them! Live music is the best. They played tons of happy music that we loved, sang and danced in the booth to. I also want to give a shout out to the young blond girl who was like the expediter. She was fantastic and really kept things moving. The other girls who worked with her were hard workers too. It's a magical place and everyone who loves breakfast or brunch needs to try it. It's definitely a local gem.

You order at the counter and then get a number for your table to sit and wait for the food. Lots more seating than we were expecting. We were in for breakfast and everything we tried was great. Loved those breakfast potatoes. We also tried the hash, French toast on swirl bread, and biscuits with gravy. All really good. Staff was attentive and very friendly. Great experience all around. Plus sundays they have a live band playing. That may be a plus or minus for you but we enjoyed it.

When you're in the 'Burgh, find something local and go enjoy. I'm not local, and I was thinking…read morepierogis & Iron City, maybe catch some Pittsburgh sportsball? Downey's House provided the local spot I needed. An ice cold Yuengling on draft went down very well, and while I didn't find pierogis on the menu, I settled for a phenomenal bowl of spaghetti & meatballs. Local marinara & meatballs made with the same recipe of the old Main Hotel that was in Carnegie for nearly 100 years. That bowl of pasta was SCRUMPTIOUS and just what I was after. I even talked my lovely wife into doing up her salad 'Pittsburgh style', which means adorning the salad with fries. And yes, it's as good as it sounds. Thrown in a protein like grilled chicken and that is a banger of a meal. Great dining area with a square-shaped bar and TVs with sight-lines in any direction. The service is friendly and helpful, and prices are probably lower than at some chain-y eatery that just makes your food via assembly line. It's local and sensational!

It may surprise some to know how many times I've hung out in Pittsburgh in the last 16 years or so,…read morebecause I've never been to a Primanti Bros. before. But then again, I am vegetarian, so I didn't think they offered anything for me. I've looked at the menu online more than once, and didn't see any sandwiches designated vegetarian each time. But I was meeting a friend before a concert on the RMU campus, and this was conveniently located 1 mile away, and it had food and beer. I kept an open mind and figured, I'll just modify one of their sandwiches. When I arrived, I learned they also have a pizza option. But I still thought... when in Rome... There was a black bean option listed on their wall menu, but the waitress double-checked for me and we learned together that they use to offer that option, but no longer do. Damn. There was however a cheese (no meat) option on the menu, which I was surprised wasn't on the online menu. But I'll take it! Their sandwiches are interesting in that instead of sides of french fries and cole slaw, the sides are just stacked into the sandwich to make it a quick easy convenient meal! The draft beer selection was good, the sandwich was decent enough, and the service was great (weekday evening). In the end, I am not sure I'd run back for my one sandwich menu option, maybe I'd try their pizza, or go for some sides, or just stop in for a beer on my way to my next show. I enjoyed the vibe and most everthing about the place, but the sandwich was just okay.
