Lee's Diner turned out to be a hidden jewel! They seem to have a very busy take out as well. As…read morewe walked in the door we were greeted and seated quickly. Definitely looks like a vintage diner. Booths along one wall, metal tables, checkered theme throughout. The floors were clean, the booth was clean as well. My only ick was the glass doors and windows could use some cleaning throughout on a regular daily basis and it would sparkle like a diamond! A very nice young man gave us menus and promptly got us drinks. We ordered a small onion ring for an appetizer and it did not disappoint. Medium sliced onions, lightly breaded and piping hot. For our meal hubby got a side salad with thousand island, an open face roast beef and gravy sandwich and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. I got the Gene Autry which is a chicken fried steak dinner. Served with mashed potatoes with cream gravy and a side salad. It took a little bit for the food to come out, but that's because they cook to order. Everything was piping hot. Large portions, we both had leftovers to bring home. Known for their hand scooped and soft serve ice cream and desserts. For our dessert we ordered a Hershey's chocolate ice cream cone. Hand scooped, delicious! Price wise, it cost us $50 including 20% tip. I did read some negative reviews but did not find any of these things on our visit. Will definitely come back!

Toula Burger - Double burger with cheese and sweet potato fries.

Toula Burger

5/5 -- A Ponchatoula Gem You Have to Try…read more If you ever find yourself anywhere near Ponchatoula, do yourself a favor and stop at Toula Burger on W Pine Street. I walked in expecting a good burger... I walked out questioning why every other burger in my life hasn't been held to this standard. From the jump, the vibe feels like what a small-town Louisiana burger spot should be: warm, welcoming, and buzzing with people who clearly know they're in for something special. You can tell the crew cares -- not just about making food, but about creating a place the community is proud of. I ordered the signature burger, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the kind of bite that makes you pause. Perfectly seasoned beef, cooked exactly how I asked, layered with toppings that taste thoughtfully chosen rather than thrown together. The bun held everything like a champ -- soft enough to enjoy, sturdy enough to keep the whole experience tidy. It's the little things, and they nail every one. The fries? Golden, salty, addictive. The kind of fries you keep eating even after you're full because "just one more" somehow becomes ten. What really stood out, though, was the service. Ponchatoula is known for its hospitality, but the folks at Toula Burger take it to another level. Genuine smiles, real conversations, and you can feel the pride they have in what they've built. It's refreshing. To the owners: Y'all created something special here. You've got a spot that feels rooted in community but tastes like it belongs on a national "must-try" list. I'd love to know more about the inspiration behind the menu -- especially what led you to craft a burger that balanced richness and freshness so perfectly. Keep doing what you're doing; the attention to detail shows. I'll absolutely be back -- and I'll be bringing people with me.

While the hand patted Burger is fantastic, my husband commented that every single time he has been there the fries are lukewarm. I opted for a hand battered shrimp Poboy. The batter was really good. Served freshly fried. If you're weird about veins in your shrimp, these are not deveined shrimp. The problem is that the bread to shrimp ratio is off. It's a really thick bread. The restaurant atmosphere is so quaint and homey. The staff was so friendly. I can chalk the bread thing up to personal preference but they need to do better with hot fries.

Firehouse Subs

Firehouse Subs, hey little PSA!…read more I didn't realize this place was showing such poor management skills and the staff not providing quality orders! I ordered a TURKEY BACON "RANCH" sandwich for lunch, but it wasn't ranch -- more like some kind of honey mustard. I don't have time to come back and get it remade. When I called, they told me they can't do anything unless I bring the sandwich back right now. I said, "I can't do that, and gas isn't free!" They just said, "Oh well, that's our policy." So basically, they can mess up your food and still expect you to pay for it! I'm really tired of places making mistakes and expecting the customer to pay for them. This was at the Hammond location. The sandwich cost $15 and was ruined. Yes, I got frustrated because they kept saying it's their policy. But the policy should be to make sandwiches correctly or at least not inconvenience customers. Then some guy on the phone said he was the manager. When I asked for his name, he started saying this is ridiculous and kept cutting me off. Meanwhile, a girl in the background called someone else and said there was a lady on the phone having a full-on meltdown. I wasn't upset until they got rude to me, cutting me off saying "oh well," and expected me to just drop everything and rush back. They basically told me, "Well, I messed up, and you need to come back to fix it, otherwise you're out of luck." The guy said, "Ma'am, sorry, but we're busy!" When I picked up my order, there were only three customers and three workers there. The management and staff are unprofessional, and it's disappointing to see such poor service. Use to go here all the time and the people there were so polite and knew who i was. Never had this happen before. Really sad

Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers

Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers

I hate this place now. It just is a 50/50 roll of the dice these days…read more The "OneLove" thing here is a joke sometimes. It used to be value. Now it's just another chicken place. So, let's get through it. Food: While the fingers are hot and fresh each time, which I will give credit and a star for, more often than not they hide measly little sad, small chicken fingers that resemble more of a nugget than a finger in your box. Literally one I got recently was as big as my pinky finger. And the funny thing is they don't care at all about giving that to you. It does not matter to them. But the funny thing to me is I go complain about it and get more chicken. So why are you giving unacceptably small fingers to your paying customers when prices are this high - yet again raised recently? When you're paying $16.59, that is not gonna cut it. I've also caught them holding back on "extra fries" when you sub for coleslaw. Again, this is an issue of value and customer experience - no care at all. Until you make them fix it. And they will fix it. Again, credit given for fixing it. I also love how they ask at the window if you want ketchup or hot sauce, and then don't put it in the bag. The issue here is the workers are not paying attention or caring about order correctness and quality. Let's get to the staff. Managers OK. Some window workers OK. Some kitchen staff OK. But I am starting to see why quality and care are going down quickly with Cane's. Take a look at who is in the back making the food. Younger kids who do not care about what you get. All they know how to do is fill the box (hit or miss) and pass it on without a care. You get what you get. I would question if some care about anything at all. The One Love they have is cutting up so much in the back, talking and not paying attention, that customer order quality suffers. And when you bring it up they can sometimes have an attitude coming out the kitchen, especially with the younger employees who literally do not care and have edgy attitudes toward customers. And this is who Todd Graves is OK with employing in his restaurants; honestly I don't think he cares either nowadays. One Love of taking money and giving less and less in return. It's not the Canes I once knew. "OneLove" is just a corporate slogan that really doesn't come out in the chicken anymore. The only thing Raising here are the prices and blood pressure; because it certainly is not customer value. I hate this place more and more with each visit and will eventually stop coming here altogether. I keep giving it chances and it's just not worth it anymore. There are way better chicken meals out there. Restaurant atmosphere is OK. Disappointing experience is one too many. I don't expect a response at all; not interested in one.
