What can you say about Five Guys?!?! The burgers are very good for fast food, but you pay for that. You won't confuse their burgers with those from a true burger restaurant, but they are exceptional when compared to fast food establishments. The fries are fresh-cut style and are NOT crispy, which I really like, but is not for everyone. You do have to wait while they grill your burger, but for good fast food, it's worth the wait. Not impressed! My wife and I ordered 2 of the cheeseburgers, small fry and small strawberry shake for a whopping total of just over $30. Yikes! The staff was very friendly, inside was clean and food came out quick. My cheeses burger was ordered their all the way with grilled onions and mushrooms. I was excited to eat this big burger till I took the first two bites and it totally fell apart. The bun was so soggy it couldn't even hold the burger together, plus the onions and mushrooms we cut so larger. So I nicknamed it the deconstructed burger and had to eat pieces of it. I understand that fast food workers don't have to go far to find another job. That being said; three people putting together orders, one had paper mask on over mouth and nose, one had on over mouth only and the other guy simply warming his chin with his mask. I noticed this after I placed my order, but before the order was started. I asked to cancel my order and have my money back. The less than friendly person at the cash register walked back and told the boy to put his mask on and came back to inform me that was not a reason to cancel my order and money would not be returned. Stopped in one my way home from Wyoming the other day in search of a decent meal after driving 10 hours. I walked in and was greeted by a very upbeat young man who quickly explained the menu and then took my order. But then it took almost 20 minutes to get my meal and by the time I got out to my vehicle the grease had already soaked clear through the paper bag. The fries were greasy and soggy. The burger was decent but they they topped in with a real poor quality government cheese and ruined it. My visit here was my first visit to a Five Guys ever, and I have to say that I found myself wondering "what's the big deal?" I don't mind the limited menu -- focusing upon doing one thing great is way better IMHO than trying to do too many mediocre things ... however I would hardly call what they do great. I thought the variety of toppings you could get on a basic burger was promising, that is until my burger came out. Firstly, I don't understand why you would grill burgers then wrap them in aluminum foil to steam. Yuck. When I actually unwrapped the burger, the bun was cold -- not just room temperature, but cold. Yuck again. The burger itself? Thin and uninteresting, despite the toppings. Seemed like they used canned mushrooms, for one. Yuck for the third time. My friend warned me that an order of fries was enough to feed a family, so we shared our fries. I will admit that the fries were pretty good, and even sharing them we only got through about half of them. Fries = decent value. The overall ambiance? Not my thing. Noisy. I don't understand the peanuts w/ burgers, and the shells make everything seem messy. Don't like being given a paper bag when I'm eating-in. Don't really understand why it is so busy, but for fans you can worry about one less person in line 'cuz I won't be back. read more

Five-Guys is a good burger. The trick is knowing how to order and how to properly assemble your burger. Everything is made to order and all the veggies and fixings are free. A little burger is one patty and all other burgers are two. I recommend grilled mushrooms, onions, jalapenos, and bbq sauce as a minimum. Lettuce and tomato are great as well. I would give this 4 stars but their lettuce wrapped burgers are a joke. I asked for one and it was layered on top and on the bottom but not actually wrapped. The soggy mess was disappointing. I have been to a few other Five Guys in the Denver metro area, and would say that this shop is one of the best! The place was packed for 2pm on a Saturday afternoon! I headed to the front and ordered our custom burger builds and fries to share. We waited maybe 10 minutes noshing on peanuts before we got our burgers. They forgot my cheese, but it was still one of the tastiest fast food burgers you can get. Yeah, it is a tad pricey when compared to drive-thru joints, but you definitely get what you pay for. I do sorta wish that the franchise had a tiny burger/slider option for a kids meal, because the small burger option is well enough portion for even most adults. She was ranting on and on to another coworker about her relationships and teenage drama. All I was trying to get was a burger. Way back last summer when the first Five Guys opened their doors in Fort Collins on Elisabeth, my husband was thrilled. Well, thrilled is an understatement. He was excited as a kid on Christmas morning to check it out and drag me along with. Then they opened another location on the East side in the Front Range Village shopping center and prayers were answered. When it comes to talking about "the best burger in town", so many people I talk to mention either Smashburger or Five Guys. Nobody talks about any other burger joint. Which is sad, really. Because there are much better burgers out there in Fort Collins than from these two places. Now, it's not a bad burger. It's better than the major fast-food places around here, but Smashburger is better (but not the best). I'm a fan of burgers and this spot delivers a good one. I really like that the menu is small and to the point. Burgers and fries are what they specialize in and they do them well. Unless you order a little burger, all burgers are double patties and I was pleasantly surprised by this upon receiving my order. My burger was cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of toppings that I chose on it. That's one of the things I liked about Five Guys, they let you decide what you want on your burger and don't make the decision for you. The fries were nice, but I would have liked them a bit crispier. The friend that I was with warned me that we'd probably only need one order of fries because they fill up the sack that everything comes in with extra fries, but I didn't listen and we ended up with a ton of extra. This was fine with me and we took them with us when we left. I was a little thrown off by the fact that they have complimentary peanuts for you to eat while you wait for your burgers and fries. I like peanuts, but It just doesn't make sense to me at a burger joint and they seem like they're more trouble than they're worth. I did find it to be on the expensive side - two burgers, two fires, and two drinks for $25.00+ is a bit pricey for fast food. I'd go back to Five Guys for the burgers alone, but perhaps next time I'll skip the fries and peanuts. read more

I can get as good a burger at Red Robin - maybe better - with fries for less than what I paid at Five Guys. Why would I want to pay more at Five Guys for a burger that was as good as someplace else just down the street? For the transplanted Californians out there: it's nothing like In-N-Out, so forget it if you're going through In-N-Out withdrawals and are in need of a fix. Now that i've eaten at all the 'higher end' burger places around town i have to re-review five guy. Five guy is good, there beef is nice and the the simple 'all the way' burger is good. Obviously this is going to be better than most of the national chains of burgers. However you are going to pay for that higher quality. But there are a few complaints from me when compared to other upper scale burger places. First the bun tends to be really soggy, i realize there's a lot of toppings which is the reason this happens but it gets mushing and kinda icky. Also keeping one of these burgers together wile you eat tends to be undignified. I tend to woof the whole thing down as fast as i can cause the second you set that burger down, its never gonna be picked up in once peace again. And like i said with my first review, They give you A LOT of frys which is cool, unfortunately i don't like there fry's at all. Gimme some frozen fries over these any day. The fry's are way too thick, and lacking in flavor If your gonna spend over $5 on a burger i can think of 3 other places in town that i would consider before five guy personally. And its nothing against their staff at all, every time I've gone to ether five guys in Fort Collins I've never had any issues with the staff, in fact usually there quite nice, even when there busting ass on the grill during a rush. read more

In N Out will always reign supreme. I will say the food is fresh. Like the meat and toppings and buns are actually... fresh. It's not frozen, it's only been in the store for a few days max, and it was prepped that morning. Nothing comes pre-sliced or anything like that, they come in at 9am and get what they need for the day shredded/sliced/balled up/etc etc. I know because I work there and... Even not being a burger fan, I can happily recommend this place due to the freshness. They are also VERY CLEAN. I just.... love the freshness. McDonalds and similar places freak me out because whether it's "bad" for you or not, the pre-made frozen weird food is just.. ugh. read more

Five Guys, in my not-so-humble opinion, has provided more competition for In-N-Out Burger than any other chain (caveat; I've never had WhatABurger, don't @ me). The burgers are very nicely done (and the bun is better), bacon is available, and while I don't like their fries as much, there are always a lot of them. So why is a dippy "Elite" Yelper only parceling out 3 stars? Easy - it's the price point. I consider burgers to be the average American food, more iconic than pizza. They are the sandwich of the working class. My burger of choice runs $10 at 5 Guys - that's 2 bucks per guy. I can get (3) burgers at In-N- Out for that, or (1) double-double and a smoothie to help convince my body that I'm not totally declaring war against it. Five Guys, bend an ear (or ten) and please listen - If you can do these burgers for 20% less, do it. I visited tonight and the place was not at all busy. I worry for you. I want you to be slammed, and I want for you to provide stiff competition for In-N-Out once they make it to Fort Collins. Competition lifts all burgers. Thus endeth the sermon. read more

I didn't grow up in California, so these lips have never come across a Double-Double at In-And-Out. They have though, on multiple occasions, devoured multiple bacon cheeseburgers and half a sack of fries from Five Guys. It's simple: It makes me skinny. It's the simplest of ideas: never frozen beef, only the freshest ingredients, all the condiments you could ever want, and personable employees. They're incredibly generous with their fries for some reason; order a small and they fill the cup and dump half a batch more in the bag with it. A little malt vinegar on top and you're all set. SIDENOTE: On the fries, sometimes can be a bit soggy, but just ask them when you order and they'll drop in a fresh batch and make sure you got 'em like you like 'em. One star off for the styrofoam waste - come on guys, it's 2009! I hope the other reviewers will give it another shot - I'm positive they've worked the "Grand Open" kinks out. read more

I really like Five Guys. I do get miffed when I see chain restaurants on the "best of " any city though. For a chain fast food place it is far superior to my other local options. I love the burgers here, and the fries are so fresh. Also I have never personally had a wrong order. One time they put tomatoes on my friend's burger, but other than that they are on top of it when it comes to accuracy. I actually wish they would offer a smaller fry size, because even when I get the small burger and share the regular fries there are some left over. Yeah, there are many places to get a better burger locally, but not on a lunch weekday when you only have 30minutes to drive, order, and eat. read more
