This Steakhouse is absolutely out of this world! I had heard great things about this steakhouse. Reservations are a must for this restaurant. A nice and beautiful drive for East Texans to this very small town. I am pretty sure that Five D Cattle Steakhouse is the draw to this community. The menu will blow you away with options. We ordered the Filet. It is by far the best Filet that I have ever ordered in a steakhouse. Cooked to perfection and so flavorful. The bake potatoes come with a basket of fixings that is nice. The salad was fresh as if they picked everything from a local garden Excellent service to be experienced here. They have live entertainment on weekends too. First time to visit Avinger and this great steakhouse. Steaks were well seasoned- the sides were delicious. The Cowboy potatoes were great! Ended our Birthday celebration with blackberry cobbler and it was truly a gift ! It was a great time of celebration thanks for making it special . We drove 2 1/2 hours to try Five D Cattle and was not disappointed. The Staff was very friendly, steaks was cooked to each one of our liking and was melt in your mouth tender, the sides were delicious as well. Our Server/Waitress was very professional and on point with keeping drinks filled and making sure we were satisfied with our food. Although not required, I would encourage you to make reservations to prevents you from having to wait to be seated. read more

Made a first visit in mid-Sep on a Thursday evening. I'm not going to leave a long review. But just let me say this - the $17 chopped steak is one of the best tasting, most flavorful pieces of beef I've ever had. It gets its flavor from the ground ribeye they use and the open flame chargrill. It's at least a full pound of meat. Try it, you won't be disappointed. read more

We stopped here on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. The steaks were tender, perfectly cooked to order and were well seasoned. The baked potato was fully cooked and they bring the fixens to let you dress it as you like. Salad was nice with a variety of greens. My wife really loved the bread. Went tonight with some friends, against the advisory of severe weather (Ppppffffttt! Rain, yeah right, I wish!) This place once again totally rocked! Loved it! It never fails! Tuesday night is rib night, it's the only night I've ever been. This was my third trip and again it was fantastic! Ribs were fall-off-the-bone good, and the blackberry cobbler with two large dollops of vanilla ice cream served in a clear, crystal goblet. So good, it makes you want to cry, and I think I did, a couple of times...We had a friend, a native Shreveporter, in our party of three, who is in between things in New York City and Los Angeles, just home for a stretch. He had never been to Avinger. He loved the restaurant from the time we walked in. He said, "I can tell you right now just by the look of this place, that I love it, already." His love only blossomed after consuming the ribs and the cobbler. New info: They now have apple cobbler, in addition to peach and blackberry. My coastal friend also became all teary-eyed over the apple cobbler. (Actors, they're so emotional, ya know?) Also: And all three of us went nuts on this little factoid, they now serve...wait for it...Big Red on tap!!!!!! Yaaaaaaaaaaay! Big Red!!!!! I've come to find this place through our office safety celebration party, ever since then I've come here to indulge myself by watching a game or the race once a month. A very well-stocked bar with a high definition flatscreen television. Today special was steak and shrimp, the steak was an 8 ounce ribeye that definitely seems bigger. The shrimp was incredibly seasoned well on the SKU and it came with two sides. I picked the sweet potato with all the fixings and steamed broccoli which is not pictured. There was three of us dining at our table and none of us had any complaints. We actually instructed our waitress to inform the cooks that the meal was outstanding & wonderfully flavored! From the time you walk into their very historic looking building. They're very friendly staff is there to greet you with conversation or privacy. The ambience is like being at grandma's on Sunday. We have always loved this place but don't know if we will ever go back. Time before last I complained about something don't remember exactly what it was but know it was about my steak when paying out. I wasn't looking for a discount but an apology would have been in order. No one is perfect. She didn't apologize or make any comment. This last time I ordered the two chicken fried steaks. One of them was way over fried and could only chew a couple of bites of it. I think it was refried to warm it back up. The second one was cooked correctly but honestly so full off gristle that it wasn't eatable. We were with friends and I didn't want to complain because they were picking up the check. Also the water is really NASTY. We moved here from West TX and are used to bad tasting water but this really takes the cake. It literally tastes like mud. Tea and coke tastes the same so if you need something to drink get a beer. The men's restroom has no heat and is freezing. They pack so many tables in there you can hardy move. If the fire marshal went in there I think he would shut them down. Service was good even though it was very busy and the combination plate appetizers were delicious. It's has gotten that prices everywhere have gotten ridiculous so the owner has got to realize everything has to be perfect or it is not worth going out to eat. Especially when you are retired and living on a fixed income. I have recommended this place many many times but don't think I will be able to do that anymore. It is over 60 miles round trip from our house (Midway area) to Avinger and over 3.00 per gallon for gas so you have to add that to the price of the meal. Just not worth it anymore. If they only relied on local customers I don't think they would be able to stay in business. The town is just too small. read more

Celebrated my son's birthday on Feb 18, 2023 and was not pleased at all. The food was cold when we received. For the price of the food, I expected a little more finesse. The baked potato fixings for a loaded potato were not in the potato, but rather brought to the table in a plastic basket with the the condiments in plastic containers. Potato was wrapped in foil, but was not hot. The caeser salad consisted of little lettuce, which was not crisp, no parmesean cheese and again the dressing was in a little container. The steak fingers my grandson ordered were so overcooked, he said they tasted burned. The total of the meal was $217 for a party of 4 adults and 2 children. For the price and food, I was totally disappointed. I will not visit this steakhouse again. read more

So wanted to like this place but unfortunately didn't even make it to order. I was standing outside the patio area with my little one listening to the live music. Wasn't crowded for weekend night. After standing there 10 minutes I walked into the restaurant side and asked hostess if kids were allowed in patio as there were no other kids and a bar. She had said yes and to help ourselves. I walked to get a table close to stage so my kid could see stage. It was very uncomfortable as everyone watched us walk all the way up close. As we started to take off jackets and sit down finally an employee approached me and suggested another seat for us with no reason. It was dead for Friday night. The band was holding this place together. She made me feel so uncomfortable I told her we would just leave. Music was so loud I didn't feel like yelling at her to even ask why she was suggesting we sit somewhere else. She did say I should of had hostess seat me. If she would of even noticed us standing at patio entry it wouldn't of been an issue but no one ever came to assist me. In these small towns I would think a business would be WAY more friendly. Obviously she has the wrong job. Won't be back it was pretty embarrassing. Looked at prices on menu. Menu looked nice but need to keep customers coming back. One star for menu atleast. read more

Disappointed in the ribeye steak. I ordered a medium rare steak and it came out barely pink in the middle. The potato was overcooked and instead of fluffy as a baked potato should be, it was brown and lumpy and extremely small. The green salad was nothing special . The service was outstanding but I won't be returning. More like a real Texas Roadhouse than the real Texas Roadhouse really is. Located in Downtown Avinger TX, it is a friendly place with great service and good food. The reason for the 4 stars is that the portions are way too big for me and I would hope they would add some "senior sized" portions, as I do not like leftovers from this type of menu items. My CFS was tasty, but the breading was way too thick and thus another deduct. The seasonings were right for me, as it didn't taste salty at all and you can always add more if you want more. read more
