I like this location. Not great but has the stuff I need from the chain. The staff is friendly.

Not a bad spot to stock up on some Penn State gear. The Family Clothesline is probably the biggest…read morecollege apparel shop in State College, so you can imagine that they have quite a selection. As far as quality goes, it really depends on what you get and how much you spend. Go with your top notch gear like Under Armour and Nike, you are guaranteed quality. From hoodies, to tshirts, to shorts, they carry the whole line. Some of the embroidered hoodies are actually sweet. So sweet that I picked up two. If your pockets aren't quite as deep, then you can go with the misc brands that they carry. The t-shirts are screen printed and run under $10, and you can easily find a hoody around $20. Just don't expect too much from the quality, but then again, you get what you pay for. On top of apparel, they also carry some misc goods. You can snag some goodies for your pets, or even your golf clubs. Tons of variety here. Varying quality depending on how much you want to spend, but c'mon. You have to shell out a little more to get the best.

We came in looking for deals on some white Penn State gear for next week's white out and was not disappointed in the selection of items available at a very reasonable price. Hats were $28-35 and the hooded sweatshirts were a nice $45. Running shoes (we only checked the prices for comparison) were a little more expensive than the chains, but supporting local businesses could justify the difference in cost. I don't think you'll find Nike and other major brands, but you will find something!

I was looking for the latest version of the New Balance running shoes I owned and needed some assistance. The employee was tentative and patient as we went through the options and answered all my questions along the way. The process took about twenty minutes as tried on shoes. I appreciated the time spent because I wanted to find the right pair and didn't feel rushed. I was informed that if I didn't like the colors, they could have them shipped into the store - a nice option to have. I also appreciated that I could bring the shoes back if they weren't right for me. There's some good running energy snacks, clothing, and more. Highly recommend and will be coming back!

Used to think it was just the "poor college kid" treatment but even as middle aged person they still give you the you should appreciate us approach. A decent selection of outdoor clothing, a much smaller selection of ski boots and ski than I recall. They also resell LL Bean items. Footwear associates were quick to offer assistance. When checking out, be prepared to pay a premium to the local shopping experience and the tacky "who assisted you?" obviously for a commission credit is uncomfortable!

They have a great selection of outdoor clothes, packs, camping equipment, and shoes in lots of different styles and colors-- the Cotopaxi gear is especially eye-catching. Both times I've been in the staff has been incredibly helpful. A salesperson helped me pick out a great pair of Salomon hiking boots last year, and a pair of "On"running shoes most recently. The running shoes they carry are mostly for trail running, but an employee helped me find a pair of street running shoes that were just what I was looking for. Plus, they have a bunch of cool outdoor games for sale, like frisbees, cards and hacky sacks. Overall, I look forward to stopping in at AO whenever I need new gear!
