I decided to drop in because there were a few upcoming birthdays I had to buy for, and they have such a great, varied selection of gift items. I bought several things- a piece of jewelry, sweet treats and a gorgeous handbag- so I was done with shopping for three special people in my life, in one place! Sierra is the newest store in the HomeGoods/Marshalls chain to come to Poughkeepsie…read more They do carry many of the same products as the other stores, but they also have a much stronger emphasis on outdoor activities, so they have a large selection of outdoor clothing, gear, and supplies. The layout of the store is beautiful! The store itself has an outdoorsy feel to it with it's wood flooring and warm lighting, and it's brand new, so everything still feels immaculate. I like that the aisles in the back with the home goods are much wider than at HomeGoods next door. Their selection of outdoor/active clothing is also really nice and well-organized. My only suggestion would be for better training for staff. I went with a $10 certificate the other day, and the cashier was very confused about what to do with it. It took him four tries of scanning it to finally apply it to the order.

I started a pile at the cutting counter and they let me add as needed so I didn't have to carry it around while pushing my stroller. In addition, all were very knowledgeable about sizing, suggestions, and weighing in on quilt designs. 3/20/25 Cotton quilt fabric is still only 20%, but deeper discounts on flannel, special occasion, shirting, fleece, and a few others. Unfortunately, they often function with one cashier so the line does tend to get long at any given time. Dollar Tree prices keep climbing but you can still get cleaning supplies, and most household goods for less than $2. Today I noticed some cleaning supplies, like brooms, mops and dusters priced at $1.50, while foil and plastic wrap are up to $1.75. I don't even head to the aisles marked at $3 and above because I remember when everything was truly $1. Makes you wonder at what point will they have to change their name to Miscellaneous items at Miscellaneous Prices Depot. I may be reaching..
