I always like to stop at Five Below when I drive around. Every store has items that sometimes you can't find at another Five Below, it might be inventory issues, sold out situations or just luck. I went to get some pet gifts and even though the premise for Five Below is to have all items to be $5 or less, that's not the case anymore...many items are over $5, but if you know your prices and you can asses the quality of the item you are buying, you might still find that your purchase is a good deal and a good value.

The first Five Below opened up in 2002 in Pennsylvania and there are now 700 stores in 33 states. The concept of the store is everything costs $5 or less. Their items are marketed to kids and teens. Expect to see a lot of nods to pop culture. If you have a child or teen in your life then you are probably well acquainted with this discount chain. Departments include seasonal decorations, tech, work out, play, and snacks. They finally opened a store in my neighborhood and I find myself popping in from time to time to pick up cute motivators for the kids I work with. I found a box of adorable erasers for $5. They also have the best and most unique selection of slime which all kids love. I am also fond of their candy and fun snacks like the limited addition Coca-Cola Tic Tacs and the M&M and Twix popcorn which caught my eye this visit. Their Halloween snacks, decorations and $5 T Shirts are out now. They have a great selection of shirts this year including Beetle Juice, Ghost Busters, and the Sanderson Sisters from all time favorite Halloween movie, Hocus Pocus. Everything I like is always $5 so even though it is discount items, they do add up. I appreciate that this store has self check out so you can get out fast. This the perfect place to purchase a kids party present, or fill an Easter Basket or a stocking. The merchandise changes over often so there is always something new to discover.

This is a pretty cool store. They sell everything from dog toys to phone charges and nothing is over five dollars. They carry lots of cool graphic tees, toys even books, and lots of other good stuff. The store itself was pretty neat,I saw about three people on the floor folding shirts and organizing shelves. Lots of stuff to see. This store is like a gigantic Target's "dollar stop" great to get stocking stuffers for the upcoming holiday season. As well as There are plenty of other great stores in this plaza as well. Will be back soon to get some Star Wars tees!

Pretty cool store with lots of things you didn't know you needed, including: kids toys, greeting cards, candy, tech accessories, craft items, casual wear tee shirts and sandals--to name a few. Getting long term use out of most of the items is unlikely, but there's a lot of trendy things to check out. Grab a few mini board games for that family road trip or pick up a jumbo canister of Airheads to give away as a party game prize. Hmm, should I? That giant bouncing glitter ball is calling my name...

No greeting upon entry but noticed the two employees stocking the shelves and dealing with customers at the checkout lane. The shelves were fronted for easy access and there was no shortage of gallon water bottles offered in singles or an easy carry cases of six. Crystal Geyser Natural Spring Water vs Purified Water each have pros and cons. Basically, the Natural Spring is better tasting and retains its original minerals from underground aquifers, while Purified Water is taken from wells and rivers then undergoes a strict purification process but may result with a bland taste. At the end of the day, hurricane season comes once a year so for a mere $1.25 a gallon, the Natural Spring Water is my choice. For the rest of the year, I consume the healthier choice for another buck a gallon.

Sometimes the store does give me a little anxiety because they're always stocking the shelves so there's always boxes everywhere but for the most part, you'll find exactly what you're looking for. They always have plenty of everything. One of the cons of this store, is sometimes the lines do get long and it's literally one person at the register and they're constantly changing staff and the prices are always changing. But one of the pros, every time I've gone in, the staff was always nice and friendly to me.

I was so excited to read about this new store... an odd lot;job lot;big lot;place with bargains. In…read morereality, it was very disappointing. The concept is that you grab a bag and sift through cardboard boxes of stuff and fill up your bag. Depending on the day you come, the prices change. Monday's price is $3; on Tuesdays it's $2 for each item in the box, etc... down to a 25 cents "blowout" on Thursday morning... until they restock and start the week again. I don't know if the people who came over the weekend and paid $6 an item got all the bargains, but we didn't see even one thing that we considered buying. It was just big cardboard boxes lined up and very awkward to reach into that had piles of the same junk in it -- items you'd find left over from a sale in a flea market. Around the perimeter were drug store and grocery items marked at supposedly 50 percent off the retail price. Again nothing that was of any interest to us. And that's saying a lot when I can't find at least one thing to spend my money on. I'm glad I came -- so I won't feel like I've missed out on anything. Now I know.

Store feels cluttered and slightly dark. We walked in to find only one other visitor on Saturday afternoon. We heard staff making up prices in back area for incoming items. It felt like rock, paper, scissors. Hmmm .... They proudly offer they are a Target Store liquidator now. Interesting as at least 1/2 the store did not look like regular Target merchandise. The pricing now is full retail and then a discount of 35% off. Todays special was slightly higher. They also warned that credit card would add a 3% charge. (Being in financials, they should check processor contract as Visa/MC do not commonly allow this) It was not what we wanted and left. Not knocking their decision to go this route, but doubt we would return. The original business design seemed to offer more possibilities and just needed some better execution. We do wish them luck ....

I have shopped this kind of discount store before and for me it is hit and miss depending on what they have in that day. Here they have the bins in the middle of the store. What you pay depends on the day of the week, Friday's $12, Saturday's $10, Sundays $8. By the time you get to Wednesday everything in the bins is $4. They restock on Thursday evenings. I stopped in on a Friday afternoon so the bins had the best selection but they were also the most expensive. In addition to the bins they have other items around the perimeter of the room at set prices, up to 90 percent off retail. I saw clothing, a lot of perfume, household items, holiday decorations, and small appliances. The friendly staff was at the ready to open any boxes I wanted to see and plug in the appliances to verify they worked. I saw a Le Creuset stock pot for only $29. They had a lot of household goods like dishes, sheets, blankets, pillows, and decorations. If you are setting up a new home and aren't picky this would be an inexpensive way to do so. If you are set on a specific brand you may find yourself out of luck. While I left empty handed it is always fun to stop and check out this kind of store because you never know what you will find.

The 99 Cent Farmer's Market in Pompano blew me away with its gorgeous fruit selection, super fresh herbs, and all kinds of miscellaneous goodies -- all at unbelievably low prices. Everything was vibrant, fresh, and far higher quality than you'd ever expect for 99 cents. They even have great snack boxes that are perfect for on-the-go. And as a sweet surprise, we were given a free pumpkin on our way out! The staff made the experience even better. Everyone was warm and friendly, and I have to give a special shout-out to Angelina, our wonderfully helpful cashier, and Anissa -- The Juice Spot Queen -- who absolutely lives up to the title. If you haven't checked out this place yet, you're missing out. Highly recommended! PS Don't forget to bring your own shopping bags!

They always encouraged me to come back, and I did. Quality is OK day-of. Most of it needs to be eaten quickly. For instance their watermelon or mangoes wont be good after a week. That's fine but $5.99/small melon or $1/mango are almost as bad as publix. Not quite but almost. Where's the deals? If its expensive, Where's the high quality? I respect their game and wish them luck but sadly its a closed chapter for me. Its not that im not going to return out of spite, but I wont be returning simply because there's no point to. Theres no deals or anything amazing anymore. Best of luck
