Decided to go with my wife on her weekly Hot Bins shopping run. I've only been here a couple of times, but it's always a cool adventure. There seems to be some great bargains. My only complaint is that they could write on the blank brown shipping boxes what the items inside are so you don't have to congregate at the opening table. It's a bit frustrating when you pick up a dozen boxes, and there is not one word identifying what's in them. They are willing to negotiate prices on some items, but they are shrewd doing it. All of the employees are friendly and willing to answer questions and help you out with your shopping experience. Now, if they can just implement a "10 items or less when your husband isn't with you" policy so my wife and I can both enjoy her shopping experiences.

Hotbins is a chain of stores that recently opened in Florida. They buy up pallets of Amazon returns and overstock from Target, Walmart and Kohl's and then they sell the items in their stores. The sell a little bit of everything from linens, fragrance, appliances, home decor, candy, toys, and clothing. They could possibly have anything you can order from Amazon. This Hotbins recently opened in Sunrise in a former Salvation Army store. Depending on the day you visit affects the price you pay. The store is closed on Thursday. On Friday it is full of freshly stocked merchandise for $12. On Saturday the price drops to $10. Sunday $8 and so on. By Wednesday what is left is $2. They also have some kitchen appliances that are priced at a discount. All sales are final so buyer beware. This was my first time in a Hotbins so I took me a little while to get up to speed. I was confused because a lot of the items didn't look they were worth $10 they were charging that day. I saw books, a box of tissues, and other random cheap items. I asked an employee why they were charging $10 for a box of tissues and she explained that those items would sell on the $2 day. So you have a mish mash of items at all price points and it is up to you to discern if you think it is worth the price they are charging that day. On the Saturday night I visited I was hard pressed to find anything I wanted to purchase that I thought was worth $10 even though the salesperson assured me almost everything in the bins was worth more. One other important thing to note is that many of the items are in brown boxes. Most likely these are the more expensive items. You are not allowed to open the boxes. You have to take them to a corner of the store where an employee will open the box for you. It is very frustrating to look at a box and have no idea what is in it and have to go through a process to open it. No thanks. I was not impressed with Hotbins on this visit but the next time I have a Friday off I may give them another chance. According to an employee people line up early before the store opens to be the first to get the fresh merchandise. If it is too crowded it doesn't sound like it would be enjoyable. Also according to employee Hotbins has giving out phones and possibly a laptop in a raffle on Fridays as an incentive for coming in. If you like a treasure hunt this may be a store for you to try but I left empty handed.

It was a really chill vibe in there!! The cashier was really nice and I had a great experience

    $12 Friday for the win!!!

It's nice and everything, but most of the time the bins are empty. They have nothing good.

No greeting upon entry but noticed the two employees stocking the shelves and dealing with customers at the checkout lane. The shelves were fronted for easy access and there was no shortage of gallon water bottles offered in singles or an easy carry cases of six. Crystal Geyser Natural Spring Water vs Purified Water each have pros and cons. Basically, the Natural Spring is better tasting and retains its original minerals from underground aquifers, while Purified Water is taken from wells and rivers then undergoes a strict purification process but may result with a bland taste. At the end of the day, hurricane season comes once a year so for a mere $1.25 a gallon, the Natural Spring Water is my choice. For the rest of the year, I consume the healthier choice for another buck a gallon.

Sometimes the store does give me a little anxiety because they're always stocking the shelves so there's always boxes everywhere but for the most part, you'll find exactly what you're looking for. They always have plenty of everything. One of the cons of this store, is sometimes the lines do get long and it's literally one person at the register and they're constantly changing staff and the prices are always changing. But one of the pros, every time I've gone in, the staff was always nice and friendly to me.

The concept is that you grab a bag and sift through cardboard boxes of stuff and fill up your bag. Depending on the day you come, the prices change. Monday's price is $3; on Tuesdays it's $2 for each item in the box, etc... down to a 25 cents "blowout" on Thursday morning... until they restock and start the week again. I don't know if the people who came over the weekend and paid $6 an item got all the bargains, but we didn't see even one thing that we considered buying. It was just big cardboard boxes lined up and very awkward to reach into that had piles of the same junk in it -- items you'd find left over from a sale in a flea market. Around the perimeter were drug store and grocery items marked at supposedly 50 percent off the retail price. Again nothing that was of any interest to us. And that's saying a lot when I can't find at least one thing to spend my money on. I'm glad I came -- so I won't feel like I've missed out on anything. Now I know.

Store feels cluttered and slightly dark. We walked in to find only one other visitor on Saturday afternoon. We heard staff making up prices in back area for incoming items. It felt like rock, paper, scissors. Hmmm .... They proudly offer they are a Target Store liquidator now. Interesting as at least 1/2 the store did not look like regular Target merchandise. The pricing now is full retail and then a discount of 35% off. Todays special was slightly higher. They also warned that credit card would add a 3% charge. (Being in financials, they should check processor contract as Visa/MC do not commonly allow this) It was not what we wanted and left. Not knocking their decision to go this route, but doubt we would return. The original business design seemed to offer more possibilities and just needed some better execution. We do wish them luck ....

I have shopped this kind of discount store before and for me it is hit and miss depending on what they have in that day. Here they have the bins in the middle of the store. What you pay depends on the day of the week, Friday's $12, Saturday's $10, Sundays $8. By the time you get to Wednesday everything in the bins is $4. They restock on Thursday evenings. I stopped in on a Friday afternoon so the bins had the best selection but they were also the most expensive. In addition to the bins they have other items around the perimeter of the room at set prices, up to 90 percent off retail. I saw clothing, a lot of perfume, household items, holiday decorations, and small appliances. The friendly staff was at the ready to open any boxes I wanted to see and plug in the appliances to verify they worked. I saw a Le Creuset stock pot for only $29. They had a lot of household goods like dishes, sheets, blankets, pillows, and decorations. If you are setting up a new home and aren't picky this would be an inexpensive way to do so. If you are set on a specific brand you may find yourself out of luck. While I left empty handed it is always fun to stop and check out this kind of store because you never know what you will find.
