We had been told by another company that used to service the commercial building..."it's a piece of #%$&, I'm not going to work on it and no one else will either!!!" Saw a recommendation and we called Fitzpatrick, could have had an appointment the next day, but we had conflicts. Got our AC working within 15 mins I think! He is doing research to find parts for the heat. Very old commercial unit, property sold multiple times, "no one knows anything" type of answers before. So far our experience has been A++++! Only reason not 5 stars is we are just waiting on the heat option. As a very busy dance studio....AC is really important! Came out to look at a wall furnace which had shut off and I couldn't find the reset button. The furnace had been moved recently during a kitchen remodel project. In addition to getting the furnace restarted, I wanted it checked out to make sure it had been installed in its new location correctly. The furnace is over 10 years old and I wanted to make sure it was still I good working order as well. George checked everything including climbing up on the roof to check the vent He got the furnace reset and running again. The furnace is working fine and doesn't need to be replaced! I just had an AC unit installed by Fitzpatrick, having been referred by a neighbor. From beginning to end I found them honest, clear, and professional. Johnny took a lot of time with me on the phone in our initial call and was generous in answering all of my questions, and when he came to look at the house, he was practical in terms of what I really needed to focus on, saving me money vs. trying to upsell (which was my experience with another company I asked for a quote from). I want to deliver my highest recommendation for Fitzpatrick's local heating and air conditioning company. After two months of getting frustratingly high replacement estimates from at least five companies who charged me to look at or or gave "free" estimates; then refused to work on it because it was too old: "Our insurance won't cover it," they claimed. Then I finally got hold of Fitzpatrick's, and in an hour and a half, Alex (a man far younger than our 40-year-old furnace) had it fixed for $175 instead of the at least 15,000 dollar replacement estimates the other companies were quoting. Man, what a relief to find a competent company who will still work on an older furnace instead of insisting it "must be replaced." Alex checked it for cracks, carbon monoxide leaks and safety. Fitzpatrick's Heating and Cooling is my go-to company. I've tried others but once I found Fitzpatrick, I won't go anywhere else. They are completely competent, honest, and dependable. They've fixed my furnace a couple of times, the second time the freezing cold day before the mortgage refi appraiser was coming. Mortgage refi official cannot appraise a house without a working furnace. Fitzpatrick was really busy because it was cold and a lot of people were without heat, but they did it efficiently and in time. Another time, I posted a question on NextDoor about my furnace putting out a weird smoke smell. I got a long reply from a neighbor who turned out to be Johnny (his wife's account), who took the time to try to help me, give me tools to test various problems. I found out only the next day when Fitzpatrick arrived at my door that he was the Good Samaritan on Nextdoor. I totally trust these home town guys. They know what they are doing and they are community members who thrive on transparency/honesty. read more

Yes, woo hoo, as good as it gets. Long story short, I had called another local company for an a/c repair, and was told the a/c AND heating system needed replacement to the tune of $18K. Whoa, stop there! I picked up the phone, called Fitzpatrick's, and Johnny surveyed and repaired my system with a new part and a very reasonable hourly rate. I highly recommend Fitzpatrick's. My friend's brother in law is an electrician in Marin and he recommended Fitzpatrick's as a reliable and honest HVAC company. Initially I called to see if they did furnace filter changes and Johnny recommended that I find the furnace and change the filters myself, since it is easy to do and he didn't want to charge for that. I really appreciated the honesty! So I went ahead and did that BUT I didn't realize that I inadvertently tripped a safety switch in the furnace. The power to my upstairs HVAC unit was out. I called them again and George (technician) was able to come by quickly and fix the issue. He actually came the same day and I find that very rare to have a quick turnaround for service calls. I recently had some apt. units serviced by PG&E who came out to conduct a safety check...basically to ensure that all the wall heaters were operating efficiently. Two heaters needed additional service. I contacted Fitzpatrick's having used them prior...I met w/George who came out, diagnosed the problems and ordered the necessary parts. I called Fitzpatrick Heating and Air Conditioning to have a new furnace installed. His recommendation came from a friend/neighbor of mine which stated that this guy does outstanding work. True to his recommendation, his work is clean and neat. Previously I was a professional mechanic, and I like doing things the right way paying attention to detail. I expect the same standard of work on my furnace that I do in my own profession. Fitzpatrick HVAC gave me the estimate and the job was done promptly. He replaced the furnace and all external parts of the furnace like the oil line, flex steel braided line to the burner, damper and duct work all included in the furnace installation price. He also does his own tin work fitting my plenum chamber to the new style furnace (extremely neat clean workmanship) One call does it all, no sub contractors under him. No add ons, no surprises, and no compromises either. I'm giving Fitzpatrick HVAC 5 stars, but I'd rate him higher if I could. We had a 25+ year-old gas furnace stop working. This firm was prompt, on time and diagnosed the problem as a failed electronic circuit, and were smart enough to have one in stock and on the truck, rather than having to backorder it: problem solved then and there. Their repair person was polite, capable and maintained Covid masking, and also knowledgeably discussed possible future replacement with a high-efficiency furnace or heat pump. We had a drop-in floor furnace in a rental unit develop a leak at the control valve. As there was no shut-off valve at the furnace, PGE cut off the gas to the entire unit. This left the occupants with no cooking gas or hot water. That, of course, is an emergency situation. I called a couple of other companies looking for someone who could respond that same day or, at worst, the next day. Most were booked and one had a dispatcher who knew absolutely nothing about furnaces or anything else apparently. That company wanted $60 just to come out to give an estimate. I finally called a company that has great reviews on Yelp and the owner said that he was booked solid but recommended Fitzpatrick. I called and they returned my call promptly. The gentleman I spoke to, George, suspected the control valve and then gave me an estimate over the phone. He knew the prices of the parts off the top of his head. Even better, the price was substantially lower than other places I had called. I explained the situation and, although, George couldn't do the entire repair that day, he did agree to come by and install a shut-off valve so that PGE could turn on the gas again. He came at the end of the day as agreed. PGE turned the gas on and the occupants were back in business so to speak. George returned a couple of days later at the time agreed, installed the parts, and sent me a bill that was in accordance with our agreement. It's a real pleasure speaking to someone on the phone who knows what's going on, can give you an estimate, come on time, and do the work as agreed. These guys are top notch in my book. read more

One month ago, Johnny came to my condo and I asked for a quote on a replacement furnace with a coil for adding an air conditioning unit. He said he would provide me with a quote in the next week. The next week came and went, and the next, and the next with no follow up from him. I called and left a message. It's been four weeks now, and haven't heard anything from him. What a bad representative for his dad's company. I wouldn't bother. What a waste of time. It's amazing they are still in business, with the lack of customer service and follow-up. If he didn't want the job, why didn't he just say so? I could have been interviewing other companies. read more

My 50+ year old furnace stopped working. The HVAC companies I called wouldn't even look at it. They said new or nothing. One tech came and wouldn't touch it. He offered to replace it for $8K -in 2 weeks. Mr Fitzpatrick showed up today -right on time. It took him about 10 minutes to diagnose & repair the furnace. Call them they got back in a very reasonable time and believe it or not troubleshooter problem over the phone and solved within minutes. They could have made me wait come over and charged arm and leg but no. Our A/C unit stopped working and to be prudent, I contacted a few companies to come out to look at it. Two others came out, each spending over an hour, with recommendations ranging from repairs in the thousands of dollars to a new system for much more. One also recommended replacing the whole system including the furnace/heating system (I didn't even ask for that bid since our heating is working just fine)!! George from Fitzpatrick's came out, spent 30 minutes or so, replaced a part, and our A/C is now working for a total cost of $200!!! Well, Yay! I'm a fan AGAIN. Hey there, this is the "30 yr. longtime Fairfax clients of Fitzpatrick's" that complained in our post of 06/22/18. Johnny was able to somehow shoehorn us into his schedule. The job finished up today and all looks great! This ductwork they installed sure looks like the latest generation of ductwork. I like how it's perfectly sealed. Our old sheet metal wrapped with fiberglass batting ducting was technology was right out of the 50's. We're very happy with our new single stage Trane Forced Air Furnace installed by Fitzpatrick's Heating. It heats the house quickly and efficiently. Previously, we had a very old gravity heater which did not heat the house well. Johnny from Fitzpatrick's Heating gave us a very competitive bid and took care to explain the process and answer all our questions, including making the system AC ready when we want to add this feature. He was also very creative about where to position the heater vents, furnace, and duct work in our old house. The job was performed on time and smoothly with minimal impact on our lives. Wish I had read the previous negative reviews before hiring this angry, rude guy. He arrived already stressed at "how busy" he was. (Like this "sudden cold spell" was MY fault!! Seriously Dude...just don't take the job on if you're THAT busy Durrrr!! He wasn't prepared to look at our gas fire "as he was too busy" - he did service the central heating but I decided his attitude and anger were completely uncalled for. Therefore I will contact another "Professional" Company for future work. read more
