On January 11, 2014, I took in my 2007 Suzuki SX4 with 42k miles for warranty work. The car was making rattling sounds from the muffler area and the car was sluggish, not driving past 45MPH. I had another mechanic take a look at it, and I went under the car myself and took photos and it was the Catalytic Converter that wasn't working. Researched it on the web, and it's a common problem in these cars that the honeycomb breaks inside the converter. The catalytic converter is covered under Federal Warranty and Suzuki's warranty for 8yrs/80,000 miles. I took it to Fitzgerald, and upfront they want to charge me $110 to work on the car regardless of the warranty. Although, I explained and argued that it was covered by warranty. Ultimately, they wrote a service agreement and didn't list the $110 to check the vehicle. On Tuesday, I spoke to Service an they advised me they received authorization from Suzuki North America to change the Catalytic converter and changed it but now it's the Resonator & another converter that isn't working properly and they will contact Suzuki N.A. for another authorization to change the Resonator/Converter.. However, now the Oxygen Sensor attached to the Catalytic Converter isn't working and not covered by warranty so I would have to pay $400+ to change the Oxygen sensor attached to the Catalytic converter. I contacted Suzuki N.A. on Tuesday, Jan 12 to place a complaint and report the incident, they called the dealer and gave me a case number.. Debbie the Customer Service at Suzuki N.A. stated she will call her Regional and report the complaint, so he can call Fitzgerald and hear their side. Jan 13, I called Suzuki N.A. on the status of my complaint against the dealer and they state they will not pay for the Oxygen Sensor. While searching the Warranty guidelines, I uncovered the Federal Emmissions Regulations EPA-420-F-09-048. Based on Federal Regulations, all car manufacturers after 1995 have to provide an Emmissions Warranty.. On page 3 of the EPA-420-F-09-048, it states the parts covered are. "Exhaust Gas Conversion Systems: oxygen sensor, thermal reactor, catalytic converter, dual-walled exhaust pipe" I advised the Suzuki Customer Service representatives about the regulation and asked them to annotate this information on my complaint. Jan 15, UPDATE.. Suzuki N.A. finally authorized Fitzgerald to replace the Oxygen Sensor under Warranty.. read more

The Assistant Service Manager James Johnson there is unprofessional and is a Nasty Monster who takes his personal life problems out on the customers who come in for service. He is very disrespectful and should not be in the Customer service business ever. I will never take my car back there for service ever. I will go to the dealership for now on... This review is on the Service Department. My alternator died on me and since I have an insurance (Zurich)that I spend $100 a month on for situations like this with Fitz, I took it there. Ok #1 it took them three days to get my insurance verified, which is ridiculous. Why am I paying for this and you can't find me? I had to go to the Fitz I bought my car from to get someone to help me. #2 they quoted me $440 which is including the Zurich deductible. I was excited to get my car back finally after 4 days. I went in and paid it full in cash...... Ok sooo why the next day did they call me and say I owe them $100 !!!! I paid the total on my ticket. Why do I owe $100???? I never take my car to the Fitz shops because they seem like there always trying to get over on someone, but this is my first to Wheaton. #3 I just had back backlights installed a few a month's ago, why are they out now ????? After this situation I want nothing to do with this company... never have I ever had to go through so much at a car shop. 2 stars because my car is back on the road. read more

I have never shopped here before, My last car I bought from CarMax, but I had a negative experience there and I was told that this Fitz was great. I decided to give them a chance. That was the best car decision yet. I walked into the place and the receptionist was wonderfully nice. I got to speak with James within one minute of walking through the door. I explained my situation and he took the time to listen to me. Most people forget to listen to their client. James S. listened very well. We looked at the website, which was kept very up to date, and I was able to take a care out for a test drive right away. The car wasn't exactly what I was looking for but that didn't matter, We noticed that there was a car we liked at another FItz. That was in my budget and had the trim I wanted. He called immediately, and told us that the car would be here the next morning. It came in just as promised and we took it for a test drive and loved it. The entire experience was wonderful and the entire staff was helpful, We worked with Tony H. who was great at explaining the process and James S. who was our point of contact with the store. Everyone at this Fitz all seemed to listen well and wanted to find a good match for our budget and desires. I was impressed and recommend this location to anyone looking for a nice used car. Everything about this place is a great, the only negative I have is that the parking lot is a little tight and I wish there were clearly marked parking for customers. All in all, go to the website first, and if you have any questions, drop by. These are very friendly people who want to find a match for your budget and desires. I highly recommend this place. My Reviw Is On The Service Department this place is the worst. I called them at 1:00 p.m, to see what time they close so i can bring my car for an oil change. The lady that answered the phone in service said i could come they close at pm. I live in Columbia md it took me about 40 mins to get there. when i got there at 1:45 pm and told them i was there for an oil change the told me i would have to come back at another time because its getting late. I explained to him that i live in Columbia and that its about a 40 min drive he told me to make an appt. next time. The only reason i go there for my oil change is because when i bought y car i purchased there lifetime program they have so i get free oil changes. Bought my mom here 2 weeks ago. Best experience I've had in a long time. As soon as I drove up, someone was outside greeting me in the parking lot. My wife took our car in for the state inspection. Everything from setting up the appointment to dropping the car off to picking it up was great. They dropped her back off at home so she didn't have to wait while they were doing the inspection then picked her up when it was done. They did not add anything to it and were very professional. I have used this Fitzgerald's service location for several years I have an older PT Cruiser and hope to keep it running for several more years. I find the guys at the Wheaton location to be very customer oriented and flexible. They have nice specials on the web site - especially for routine maintenance like oil changes, tire rotations, etc. They have also consulted with me on upcoming needed work so I can better manage the expense. The ONLY downside at this location is the most unpleasant waiting room.... noisy (from offices down the hall), few amenities, uncomfortable seating.... adequate, but not nice...and probably contributes to cranky customers. Certainly I'd rather have the lower cost on the service ... just come prepared for the waiting room.. or ask for a ride home....if you live close by they will readily give you a ride. read more

"Worst car buying experience ever" I recently purchased a used vehicle from this location. My saleswoman had the personality of a rock. She said maybe 7 words to me the entire time I bought the vehicle. She didn't sell me anything, nor did she try to woo me. She was there as a formality. The finance director was great. Luis was very personable and helped me get a decent loan. I drove off the lot excited about my purchase. It is when I got home, 40 miles later, that my wife pointed out that the heat didn't work. My wife returned the vehicle the next day for repairs and got a loaner car, filled with fuel to 7/8ths of a tank. I get a call yesterday, saying the heat issue was fixed. I drove another 40 miles, ready to finally get my vehicle. I get the keys, turn it on and notice the airbag light flashing, I go to talk to Rod, who has no business being in customer service. At this point, this is my 3rd trip to the dealer and my vehicle isn't fixed. Here's a note on that....as somebody who is a technician by trade, when I fix a customer issue, I make sure there are no other issues when I say I'm done. When my heater was fixed, the tech disconnected my airbags and battery. 2 things he should have checked when he said he was done. Now back to Rod...I let him know that this was my 3rd trip and that I am starting to get aggravated with the whole experience. I said that "While I didn't buy a brand new Cadillac, my money spends just the same." This was a cue for Rod to tell me that he appreciates my money. That response did not come. Instead, he said "Don't come at me like that." I didn't yell, but I let it be known that I was not happy. Rod did not seem to care and never once apologized. He said I could either leave my vehicle again or return it. I had to ask him if he could possibly understand my frustrations. At this point, I was strongly contemplating returning it, since Rod didn't care and there were problems with the vehicle. That's when I remembered Luis. I asked him to sit and talk to me in my vehicle, which he did. I explained my situation and the first thing Luis said to me was "If you leave your vehicle again, I will have somebody drive it to you when it's fixed, since you live in Baltimore." Was that so hard? No, it was not. Thank you Luis for caring. We drove around the parking lot for a few and I showed him the flashing airbag light and expressed my frustrations. He listened and said he will take care of me. We are talking about the finance director. This morning, I wake up to a 10 dollar fuel charge for the loaner car. Remember the 7/8ths number? Yeah, me too and that's what I filled it up to because that's what it had when I got it. Again, I call Luis and the first thing he said was "I'll take care of it. Give me a few minutes and I will call you back with a time a driver will deliver your vehicle." Was that so difficult? Nope. Thanks again Luis. He said he would send a 10 dollar bill with the driver, which he did. I appreciate a man of his word. Weather you are buying an ice cream cone or a vehicle, you should treat customers like you appreciate the fact they chose you to spend their money on. Luis is the only saving factor for me buying this vehicle. The sales woman was dull, the sales manager was uncaring and the service department was un knowledgeable. read more

I never write reviews but I had to about this place. This is the second time I came here and felt like they don't know how to treat people nor do they know fully what they offer. The first time I came in, I was willing to buy a upgrade of the car I had. I filled out all the paper work, my credit was ran and the process was just about complete. The sales man came back saying someone just put down $4000 for the car a few days ago. I was highly upset. After a week of searching for what I wanted, I came back again. I was treated very nicely until I told the sales man I did not want to put down $3000 for what I wanted and if I could just pay for the tags, taxes and title like I did for my last car which was like $1000. He rudely told me that he was going to sell it to someone else that wanted it more because it's a very nice car and he was not gonna sit on it or wait for me to come up with what he wanted. He handed me my inspection paper for my car and told me "I'm done" then walked away. I never felt so low and disrespected in my life. The second time I came, I made a appointment for my oil change and to check out the service engine soon light but wanted to come in early. When I called they told me to come in right away. My appointment was for 11 but I was there at 9:45. I was told I could be seen right away but when I got there, it was a hour and a half wait. Then I have the car lifetime protection plan and they told me even though I have it, I have to still pay out of pocket for my oil change. They have given me the worst service. read more

This is the third time that I'm coming to Fitzgerald Auto Mall the service on my 2010 Toyota Camry. They offer a loaner car when service is going to take a while. But if you're coming in for a oil change and basic service the wait time is usually a couple of hours. You're across the street from the mall which is a short walk. The prices are not outrageous but they aren't cheap either. For about 90 bucks I got the oil filter and oil change tire rotation they checked out the brakes inspected the tires in the tire pressure. And a multi-line inspection. They have a waiting room with magazines and a TV. My only negative thing to to say about this location that the whole place should use a facelift. The infrastructure is crumbling and as you turn into the parking lot you feel like you have stepped into 1985. They have vending machine but don't offer any healthy options. Television in the waiting room is small and I did not see a remote control. I was stuck watching the television show called pitbulls to parolees. I was not pleased by this. However it did force me to walk across the street to the mall so I got some exercise in. read more

My 2004 Mini Cooper S began sounding like a formula one race car, so decided to bring it in to Fitzgerald for them to take a look at it. I had bought the car from their Germantown location and purchased the buyer protection plan (which provided a free loaner car during any services that needed to be done). I made the appointment on a Saturday online for an appointment on Monday at 6:00pm (which was an option on the website) and got the email confirmation so I thought all was set. I get to the shop on Monday around 5:30 and they don't have a record of the appointment and apparently the techs leave around 5 everyday (so they should probably remove the 6pm appointment option online). But, i left my car there and picked up the loaner, which was a pretty simple process. The next day I get the news.. catalytic converter problems.. YIKES! Paul was very nice over the phone and explained everything to me, so I went forward with the repair and was told that they would call me on Friday when it was ready. Friday afternoon rolls around, so I decide to call and check on the status, since I would be leaving work soon and I could just go directly there. Paul wasn't in at the time, so I got a call later that day saying that my car was stuck on the lift. If i hadn't have had a loaner car and got this image of my poor car stuck 6ft in the air and laughed, I probably would have been more upset that I had to wait another few days to get my baby back. Paul was apologetic and we shared a good laugh over the situation. Long story short, I picked up my mini cooper and it sounds just like the day i bought it. Back & forth with the dealer and it's finally off-handedly revealed that we're on the 3RD catalytic converter in a 7-yr-old car. Whoa! Not good. Stalling on the 495-Beltway in the passing lane, stopping in the left-turn lane/intersection --scary stuff. Finally, my partner & I putt-putted the car to the dealer's lot where it just died. This is 2 yrs later & w/n 30 days of paying the car off..$8000+interest. The mgt staff--nice as apple pie, but.....Their solution: We had a Suzuki Verona; they wld give us a Dodge Aveo. I have had no issues with the service. I brought my used SX4 in for service and have been going back since 2010. I like the convenience of the location. I drop the car off, hop the Metro, and get to work. I generally don't go to dealerships because they up sell you on things you don't need. I have never felt that I was pressured on any repairs, however I have taken there suggested repairs and made them over time. read more

I have been bringing my 3 cars to Fitz/Wheaton for servicing about 10 years. The prices are fair, the work is excellent, the staff is great, and they have the cars ready when promised in the evenings. On those rare occasions when the car is not ready, they call me to let me know. AND they extend the loaner/rental to the next day. They always keep me informed of what work is required then and what should be monitored until next time. There is never any "upselling". They even checked out one of my cars and told me that barring anything catastrophic, the car (2005, with 130k miles) should last another 6-12 months. My dad told me when you find a mechanic you can trust, stay with them. That's why I keep coming back! read more

I purchased my very first new car from Fitzgerald's Wheaton Suzuki a little over a year ago. I loved the buying experience; the salesman was very kind and courteous, he took the time to answer all of my questions and made sure I received all of the promotions I was entitled to. The service department has been very helpful since I have purchased my car. I often times have to take off work to get my vehicle serviced and they always make an extra effort to get me in and out as quickly as possible. On occasion I have noticed some fingerprints and smudges on my interior from the mechanics (my interior is beige) but they are always quick to clean it up and make it look like new. Sometimes accidents happen but these guys always take the time to make it right. Al, Paul and Tommy will always treat you right! I would definitely recommend them to anyone in the market for a spicy little kizashi or any other Suziki model! read more
