My son has been going to Fitwize for 3 years. He was in the kindergarten program; which was an outstanding experience. The teachers are very attentive to the children and my son learned so much. The lessons are rich in culture (art, poetry, authors, etc.) and creativity. The field trips were well thought out and were in line with what the children were studying. The summer camp program is really great. Again, great field trips and water park every week. The counselors are responsible and caring, they enjoy working with the children. The after school program has been such a help to me, as a working parent. Many after school care places say they have homework time, but rarely make it a priority. My son has never been fond of homework so it would be a struggle to try to get him to complete it at 7pm. Thanks to Karen and the amazing staff at Fitwize, my son gets his homework done and all I need to do is check it and make sure he reads before bed. Fitwize offers many additional enrichment activities during the aftercare program. My son has enjoyed the "Hoops & Ropes" club (jump rope & hula hoop), the Running club, and Garden club. Fitwize sponsors a local elementary school for the backpack buddies program. The program provides snacks and breakfast to students in need during the weekend. Each Thursday, the students in the aftercare program help assemble the bags that get delivered to the school. The center is very active in the community, participating in local fundraising events and holding their own Fundraiser for Breast Cancer each year. Karen Mitchell, the owner/operator is an incredible asset to the community. She puts 100% into everything she does and it truly shows. You can see from the quality of individuals she employs and the care she shows to the students and families at Fitwize. I have been in Ashburn for 7 years, this is the best program I have found. I am greatly appreciative of Karen and everyone at Fitwize for making my life a bit easier! p.s. The "review" of Fitwize by someone who does not have a child in the program should not be considered in any way. Fitwize has expanded greatly in the short time they have had the space. The "cage" the person refers to is an outdoor FENCED PLAY AREA. Complete with basketball hoop and concrete barriers to secure the space in the back of the building. read more

This is my daughter's second school year in the Fitwize afterschool program. We "tried out Fitwize" by attending a tumble class, then a few of their summer camps. They were great experiences, so we signed up for the afterschool program. The kids get homework time (and homework actually gets completed and often checked), they get 45 minutes of structured fitness time (my daughter loves the Kid version of Zumba class that she gets at Fitwize once a week). They also teach nutrition and fitness as part of the afterschool program. The program is well structured (snack, homework, fitness...but also has ample free time for everything from board games and cup stacking to playing outside in their large fenced area and doing fitness related games. The staff is well trained, professional, engaged, respectful and just great with the kids. There is also very low staff turnover and they keep the facility clean! The owner is also very hands on and always quick to address any question or concern. We also take advantage of the Tumble program being onsite. The afterschool staff delivers her to the tumble portion of the facility for her tumble class, then returns her to afterschool. Fitwize has also teamed up with East Coast Edge Dance Studio, which is in the same complex of buildings. One day a week, Fitwize takes my daughter to her East Coast Edge dance class and brings her back to Fitwize. This is GREAT! This allows my daughter to have two afterschool activities (Tumble and Dance) that would otherwise be difficult to do because of my work schedule. They have other enrichment programs for the kids for an additional fee, like Art, Music, Chess, Cheer, Tumble, etc. It really is a safe, happy and healthy environment. Our daughters have been enrolled at FitWize for the past three years. They take tumbling classes, are enrolled in the after-school program and attend summer camps. We cannot say enough great things about all three programs! When searching for after-care, we learned that FitWize offered structured daily physical time, frequent nutrition activities and opportunities to participate in community service. No other program could even come close! We have been extremely satisfied with the quality of offerings and planning that goes into running this great program. Kudos to Mr. Bernstein! Additionally my children have daily homework time and a healthy snack. They are happy every day when we pick them up! A huge part of this is the staff who truly care about the well-being of every child. From the van drivers who build strong relationships with the children (yay Ms. Robin), to the staff leading games and supervising outdoor play, my children have liked every member of the FitWize staff. The front desk staff is very friendly and we are always greeted with a smile and good service. Regarding tumbling, Mikey and Jess cannot be compared to the coaches at nearby gyms. They work individually with each child on their skill goals in a caring and supportive manner. My daughter's growth impresses me at the end of each class. Private lessons are an awesome experience and Mikey provides expert coaching in a fun environment. Our family highly recommends FitWize! We look forward to many more years of entrusting the care of our children to this dedicated staff! read more

This is our third year at Fitwize - I can't say enough great things about the after-school, tumbling/cheer and summer camp programs! Our youngest began in the Kindergarten after-school enrichment program (so cute - those kids were like a little family!) and we haven't looked back. I love that I know my kids are getting a good snack, their homework done AND have at least an hour of running around (whether it be organized activities like Zumba, group fitness, circuit training, or getting to jump rope, play wall ball or basketball) after a full day at school. They make exercise fun for the kids, and they always leave with a smile on their faces! Karen and her entire staff are fantastic - my kids really look up to all of them...and the teachers truly care about all of the children. Two Major Improvements over the last year: ~They recently added on a great outdoor play area (disappointed in the review below about a "cage" in the parking lot...) where the kids can go out to play basketball, etc and enjoy the nice weather. The kids love it, it shakes the routine up a bit, and it gets them outside...all while being in a safe environment. What's wrong with that?? ~They DOUBLED the size of the gym by adding on a dedicated tumbling/cheer wing...which gives everyone more room to play, and gives the tumbling and cheer classes more space to work. It's a huge air-conditioned space and the kids love it. I highly recommend Fitwize - my kids love it! read more

Karen Mitchell runs a remarkable fitness, social responsibility and healthy eating program for after school and Summer Camp at Fitwize. Our son, a Newton Lee Elementary student, has been here for two years and we couldn't be more pleased about his care. Some of the counselors here are actual teachers at Loudoun County public schools. They focus on getting homework started in after care while feeding the children a healthy snack, usually fruit. They are dedicated, even attending 1 or 2 of our son's extracurricular baseball games. My son loves the fitness games they play so much, he wants to play them at home. The counselors are also teaching good sportsmanship. Additionally, we are pleased with the commitment to those less fortunate. The children bring in snacks and pack backpacks for other schoolchildren in need. They make fun field trips during Summer Camp with constant supervision by counselors. I'm not worried about the outside play area in back ( used frequently for basketball courts) mentioned in an earlier post. The children are watched closely by adults who also play the games with them. My husband and I highly recommend Fitwize4Kids. read more

This place is incredible!!! The facilities are welcoming, clean, and the staff is absolutely amazing. Our daughter started earlier this year and we've seen such immense growth, not only in her passion for tumbling/gymnastics and her athleticism, but, also her confidence. Coach Mikey and Coach Jess are wonderful instructors. They are kind, patient, and truly passionate about what they do. They take a vested interest in helping every child learn the skills. Also, they emphasize the importance of not only having healthy bodies, but strong minds. Most importantly, they really strive to ensure that all children have fun and build self-confidence. The price is so reasonable (definitely worth it!) and our daughter is getting so much out of the classes. She had no tumbling experience when she first started and leaves each class feeling more and more encouraged to come back and improve and build on what she learned. We highly recommend to any other families looking for a gym for their children! We are so happy to have found Fitwize and have been enjoying our experience with this gym! read more

Great place for children to get exercise and have fun! My daughter LOVES all the coaches. She loves it so much we enrolled in 2 different classes a week.
