Merit School of Broadlands

Merit School of Broadlands

We recently moved to the Broadlands area from out of state. While we were still in out of state,…read morewe began our search for a preschool for my 4-year-old daughter and a before/after school program for my older son. This was very stressful since we did not know the area here very well. I called many schools in the area for pricing and to learn more about their programs. When I called the Merit School of Broadlands, I got to speak with the Director, Caitlin, who was not only able to tell me all about the programs at Merit and answer my many questions, she also shared with me important information about the Broadlands community and the Northern VA area. The fact that she took the time to discuss this with me, not even knowing if I was going to enroll my children, demonstrates a genuine kindness and customer service that I was really impressed with. When I was able to finally tour the school with my 4-year-old daughter, I was impressed with how the Assistant Director, Jessica, was so warm and welcoming towards her. She introduced her to the teacher and let her spend some time in the classroom while I went on the tour. In the front lobby/office area there are large TV screens that show what is happening in the classrooms. It is great for parents who just want to check in on their child without disturbing them. During this tour, I got to see how my daughter was adjusting and interacting with the other students by watching her on the monitors rather than hovering over her. I also really appreciated the security of the building. Each family has a unique code to enter the facility, so outsiders cannot just walk in. In addition, I liked how the school is new and everything was very clean. They also have an amazing playground, which is definitely a bonus for the kids! After touring the Junior Kindergarten classroom, the School Age classroom, and learning more about the curriculum and extracurriculars, I decided to enroll both of my children. My children have now been at the Merit School of Broadlands for about 2 months and we are very pleased with our decision. My youngest is in the full day JK class and she loves it! We are very pleased with how much she has learned in the short time she has been there. She's even learned some Spanish! She comes home happy every day. I also get updates and pictures throughout the day of what the class is learning and pictures of my daughter engaged in different activities or play. It gives me peace of mind to know that she is in good hands. The Before/After School Program is amazing for working parents. My son is able to ride the Merit bus to his elementary school and it picks him up in the afternoon. I also get updates of when he leaves on the bus to go to school and when he arrives back at Merit in the afternoon. My son feels so grown up in the school age room with lockers and computers to use. When the kids get there they have snack, homework time, and outside time. In addition, the Merit School offers other activities for the children. Both of my children have been able to participate in field trips. They have spirit weeks and family events to promote a sense of community. They even host Parent's Night Out events which is wonderful for parents and super fun for our kids. Most recently, they hosted a Scholastic Book Fair for the students. The Merit School of Broadlands has been great for our family and has helped to make the transition to Virginia an easy one for our children.

What we were looking for was a smooth transition between preschool and Kindergarten. We had narrowed down to 3 Montessori schools for my now 4yr old son. We decided on Center Stage after touring the facility with Heather, the Director. She is truly passionate about education and that reflected wonderfully in the little details she mentioned while she gave us a tour. My son has been going here for a month now. Within the first few days his vocabulary and conversation skills improved leaps and bounds. He is excited to go to school and learn every day. Being a parent who already has experience with an older Montessori educated child, I can confidently say that Center Stage is easily at par or higher than any Montessori schools in and around Loudoun. The teachers are awesome! They are straight forward and ask us about our goals for our children and are ever willing to work with us. The child to teacher ratio helps them give a lot of individual attention to every child. They communicate everyday to us and send us lesson plans and pictures of our child throughout the day. I would highly recommend Center Stage to anyone looking for a good preschool or daycare for their kid. They are Montessori and more!

Center Stage is a pre-school that follows the popular Montessori approach; however, they've changed it a bit to make it more practical and engaged in today's world. What makes Center Stage great and unique is that they have a team that really cares. They truly take a personal approach with every child they have. We put our son in Center Stage two months ago and have been very pleased on the progression that he has made so far. What we appreciate the most is that the teachers are very honest. They will tell you the truth where your child's strengths are and his/hers areas of improvement. As a team, they will then work diligently to make those improvements and have a curriculum that will keep the child highly engaged. We could clearly tell that Heather and her team are very passionate about early education and child development. Center Stage truly has a unique curriculum and approach compared to your usual pre-school or 'daycare'. They really strive for the best. Thank you Center Stage! Keep on rocking!

They have great operating hours for working parents and the staff is so kind. The communication from the very beginning is wonderful. I can always get in touch with someone at the school and I receive at least 2 pictures of each kid every day. Often times I receive MORE than 2 pictures a day and it's evident that not only are my kids enjoying themselves, but they are learning so much. I had an emotionally difficult time being apart from my third baby when she first started, but Ms. Cherise and Ms. Claudia made the transition so easy for both me and my daughter. My daughter gets so much love every day and I know she is safe and happy. I wouldn't want my baby anywhere else. Also, they got her to take bottles on her very first day, which is something we were never able to do at home! Highly recommended this daycare!

From the moment I contacted this school, they have bent over backwards to make sure that I've been at ease in regards to my child's transition and possible attendance. Unfortunately I'm the type of Mommy that need's her hand held as well. I've had some pretty rough experiences in regards to childcare and my child's health, as well. I expressed my anxiety and concern, and didn't need to say another word! I can honestly say that for the first time in a long time, I know that my child is in the best care possible. The Admission's Director is AMAZING and so kind! She empathized with me, which is extremely important for a parent. The communication between the parent's and this school couldn't get any better! If I reached out with questions or concerns, the staff responded IMMEDIATELY. Whether it be the Owner, director, or Admissions Director. The owner of this facility, and another Ashburn Primrose as well; is extremely professional, knowledgeable, honest and sympathetic. She is very responsive, and I can see that she wants the best for my child! Let's not dare forget the staff and teacher's!! Hands down...the BEST!! You walk into this center and you feel the love. In all honesty. My child's teacher and assistant teacher are the sweetest. They don't just hire anyone at Primrose, these are educated individuals. I can definitely tell as a parent, the staff here goes through training periodically as well. My child had some special needs, and this entire facility has been nothing but caring, and accommodating to he's needs. This facility is very beautiful, and clean kept! I am looking forward to years to come at Primrose Broadlands! So thankful I made the decision to enroll here. Looking back, wouldn't choose anywhere else!

As a single parent with no immediate family nearby--my closest relatives live over four hours…read moreaway--I enrolled my son at Primrose hoping for not just a strong educational foundation, but a supportive community. At first, things looked promising. My son was excelling--he even was advanced to Kindergarten early, which made me proud and reassured that I had made the right choice. However, that changed quickly. When challenges arose, the school showed little flexibility or empathy. I was dealing with a custody/support battle, that was financially bearing . I made them aware of 4 months in advance instead of working with me when I provided a solution , I often felt pressured and dismissed. The school director, was especially pushy in her communication and didn't provide a POC beyond herself for escalations. Rather than collaborating with me as a parent doing her best, I was met with rigid policies and a lack of understanding about the realities I face as a working single mom. She looked me face a brought me a withdrawal form, which she asked me to complete. Ultimately, my son was removed from the program because his account was consistently behind one week of payment ($535) for about 5 weeks. The payment plan I proposed--though honored and paid the month of April as I communicated--did not align with the school's internal preferences. Despite my efforts to be transparent and proactive, I was repeatedly met with threats of legal action and communication that felt more like gaslighting than genuine support. I felt constantly pressured, which added unnecessary emotional stress to an already difficult situation. I was left scrambling to find alternative care while juggling full-time work responsibilities. The entire experience was not only disheartening, but did not align with the values of family partnership and compassion.
