I had a membership there for over a year but finally threw in the towel and quit. The facility is…read moreactually nice and well maintained, but pretty small. The owner's insistence on having trainers working with people (usually groups of people) throughout the day make it difficult at best to find a machine to use. The trainers routines often have people moving in and out of your area so don't be surprised if someone ends up running right by you for no particular reason. I actually had a couple of teenagers from their summer sports camp set up in the treadmill area and start jumping over me as I was doing sit ups. To the trainer's credit he didn't see them at first at stopped them when he saw what was going on. But still. I've never seen this at another gym. And hope I never see it again. The studio room where you can stretch, jump rope, etc. is always hosting a class. So if you want to just go somewhere nice and workout this isn't the place for you. You're better off signing up with a much larger facility like Anytime of 24 Hour where they cordon off their training or groups as opposed to Wild Basin where the training is obviously more important than the individual. If you like working out in group classes or working as part of a group with a trainer this place is better. But again, small quarters, so the training group will likely be bumping into others who aren't doing what you are. Also, the owner isn't really all that great. When I mentioned the issues I had he informed me that not only were they going to try and do even "more" group training, but that it was really my responsibility to tell the trainers they're stealing my machines when I go to get a drink of water or something. I finished my workout and canceled my membership that afternoon. It's very pricey as opposed to the larger gyms you could go to and doesn't offer anything out of the ordinary except for location (it's great for people who live in Steiner and don't want to drive to Lakeline). I joined a gym near my office and am much, much happier. Would advise others to take a look, but try and go during times you'd normally be there as part of your routine. That's the best way to tell what it's like there when you want to be there. If you go at that time and see a bunch of people being trained in the general exercise areas, know that they'll be the priority and not you the individual exerciser. Not fun. Also, the hours of operation aren't great. The facilities seem to be open for when it's most convenient for the managment and not the members. The two days people are looking for the most flexibility - Saturday and Sunday are the hardest. They close at 5 on Saturday and are only open noon to 5 on Sunday. For the price you pay you'd think they would be more amenable. LIke I said, pretty expensive. You can get much more gym and a more customer friendly experience at other, better priced gyms if you're willing to drive. Finally, the yoga instructor is a little creepy. They sort of let him roam around and he spent a lot of time trying to recruit me into his class. I tried politely to indicate I wasn't interested but he didn't seem to hear it. So every time I saw him I had to duck my head down and make sure we didn't have eye contact. My wife had different issues with him. She did like their Zumba dance class but it always started late as the yoga teacher spent a lot of time loitering with his students in the gym's exercise studio once his class was done, chatting while he should have gotten out and let the other class start. We mentioned it to the women who work the front desk (who are very nice btw) but nothing ever seemed to change. Again, very pro-trainer, pro-training in this facility.

She is incredibly knowledgeable about the body, and helped me identify underlying issues with my body mechanics and breathing that I've been struggling with for years. Over the past few months, Carmen's work with me has significantly improved how I feel throughout the day. With her training, I've discovered entire groups of muscles I never even knew I had. Mainly in my back. Building them up has made keeping decent posture easier throughout the day. That's my primary goal and it's clearly happening. I hold myself differently and feel more comfortable, especially at my shoulders and lower back. My lower back pain is gone. I sleep better and feel more confident walking around. Carmen has a real intuition for the body's movement, reminding me of my ballerina sister. Carmen can tell just by watching when something is off. She's also great to be around; whether it's the exercise, the company, or both, I'm always more cheerful leaving a workout. The app plus video also enables me to continue sessions while traveling. Anyone who can have her guidance is very fortunate.

The classes are good....sure, you get a decent work out. However, if you decide this does not work…read morefor you, you can not cancel your membership. This is literally like a cult. This studio tells you you have to go on the website to cancel your membership (which I don't understand since I paid at the studio). I did this twice but my credit card continued to get charged. BTW, the website has no customer service number to assist you. When you call the studio's number, you get a voicemail. No one calls you back. I am at the point of having to cancel my credit card and dispute the charges. This is horrible customer service. I would not join any facility that does not let you easily get out of the membership when you decide it does not work for you.

So, at the encouragement of an out of state friend, I visited my local OTF. I was worried, embarrassed, all that jazz about going into a facility where the majority of people were already fit, but quickly - and I do mean quickly - I learned that the only competition I was in was with myself. The community is supportive, and the coaching staff is awesome. In particular, major props to the head coach, Jonnie, who is really kind and enthusiastic. He makes me feel like more than just a number walking through classes, and he always helps me adjust as I am working to get my fitness level up. OTF is an intense workout, and it is not always easy to get myself motivated to go, but I am already thinking about upgrading my membership to go more often because the workout I am getting is truly stellar. Finally, I don't know if it's because enrollment is down due to the pandemic, but I have never had to get on a waiting list to join a class. I always am able to get into any class, including my ideal spot of 6:15am, and these are not even full.
