When I started, I didn't know the difference between a bar bell, kettle bell, and dumb bell. Now I feel comfortable doing squat cleans in hotel gyms when I travel. After I moved to Round Rock, I tried a handful of crossfit gyms, but there wasn't enough weight training, and I was actually losing muscle. I decided it was worth it to make the commute. I really like how each class includes weight training as well as circuit training. I feel stronger than I've ever been. read more

This review is long overdue, but here it is: I started doing Crossfit for the first time at CrossFit REP since ~October 2019, after having transitioned through various other programs, such as Orange Theory Fitness, HEAT Bootcamp, F45, etc. All of these places have been instrumental in developing my physique/fitness capacity. However, it wasn't until a joined this place that I started gaining muscle... like, 10lbs of muscle, and improved my posture/exercises exponentially. Sidenote: during these times of crises the gym has been closed. However, I have been able to maintain my level because they now offer online classes through zoom (see pictures) which are really good and kick my butt every time. Okay, back to the review. Here are some other things I love about this place--in no particular order: * The workouts/program: It is hard to find a place that takes the program as seriously as CrossFitREP does. Jake and the coaches are always ensuring that the workouts are good enough for people that come a few times a week and also doable for people that want to drop in every day. Very solid program. * The coaches/classes: Not a single coach that I haven't been impressed by or learned something from every day. Also--compared to other places--classes are small enough that coaches actually DO have the time to pay attention to you at all times. It almost feels like personal training, in a way. * The community: Lovely group of like-minded people. Everyone has a reason to show up but at the end of the day, we all support and motivate each other no matter what. This is the type of thing that can make or break that last rep. Also, plenty of events happening every month (see my picture winning the January attendance challenge) even during the COVID-19 self-quarantine, such as trivia nights, cooking classes, etc. Let's just say it's a community first and gym second. Lastly, don't be scared of giving CrossFit a shot. A lot of people Google their way out of it and my advice is: just try it out. People have polarizing opinions about CrossFit but it really just is what you make of it. read more

It's an awesome community. The trek there can be kind of confusing depending on where you're coming from, but it's worth it. The workout and classes are always fun and engaging, and everyone there is super friendly and inviting. I'd also like to shout-out the attention members get from their coaches; if you need form correction or alternative moves, you always have someone guiding you. The classes are also small which I like cause it gives the coaches more time to connect with everyone during a session. Have I mentioned the community?! Sound like a broken record, but as a newbie to CrossFit I highly recommend this gym. The classes are top-notch. The coaches are amazing. Great workouts. Need I say more? Check it out. I was in town for work and found this place conveniently located near where I was staying. I've dropped in to a lot of CrossFit boxes over the years and it's a mixed bag, but this was one of the best by far. Jake was a great coach. We did a lot of stretching/prep for the workout which was great. There was the traditional strength followed by the WOD that I am used to. It definitely kicked my ass and was a great way to start off the week. I'll absolutely go back the next time I'm in town. read more

I have been a member since this gym opened in 2012, and it's only gotten better over time. The coaches are dedicated to lifelong learning and making our workouts challenging but safe (and fun!) Even when I've had injuries and limitations, Coach Jake and Lindsey have been excellent at modifying exercises for me. They're great at working with members to meet their own individual goals, whether you want to compete professionally or just get in a good sweat. Several members have stuck around as long as I have, and for good reason. The intelligent coaching and tight-knit community makes Crossfit REP special. Ask me 3 years ago if I'd be doing Crossfit and I would've told you...HA!!! LOL. No way, Jose. I'd always been under the impression that Crossfit was for mega ripped athlete types who eat only Paleo, and that's not me. So when my significant other discovered Crossfit REP's solid online reviews in 2017, I decided to give it a try with him. Now, almost 2 years later, there is a huge difference in my strength and endurance. The best thing about Crossfit is that you can scale the movements to your level - there is no shame whatsoever in doing so. My first year at REP, I focused on learning and feeling confident with the Crossfit movements while not going too heavy. Only in the past few months have I begun to push myself more and clean up my diet, which has yielded more noticeable results. Not only that, but I feel better overall, have more energy and actually look forward to my evening workouts. REP offers effective programming (it's so much easier to have workouts planned for you), GREAT coaches (they truly care about you using good form and prevention of injury - super important to me), and a friendly community (all ages, backgrounds and skill levels do Crossfit, I love it). Yes, Crossfit is more expensive than joining Gold's or Planet Fitness, but if you're anything like me, I find it impossible to push myself during solo workouts. Working out with a small group helps with this. I also appreciate that REP doesn't try to push a specific diet on you (i.e. Paleo, I'm vegan). In my opinion, the pricing at REP is fair and you get great value for your money - as long as you show up and put in your best effort. I've always been of the mindset of investing my money in preventing health issues down the line...a gym membership and quality food will be cheaper than prescriptions and hospital visits. So think of it as an investment in yourself. Give Crossfit REP a try, be consistent, and you can reach your fitness goals - whatever those may be. read more

I am very new to the world of exercise and gyms. I was extremely anxious and apprehensive about doing something like CrossFit. I am not used to the language, abbreviations, the moves, and am not very coordinated. This kind of environment (any gym) exposes my weaknesses and insecurities. Everyone has been so patient and helpful. Most of all, Lindsey has been more than amazing. Lindsey, a coach, has been more patient with me than I could have asked for. She makes time to explain new moves to me (and moves I have done before but I forget ). She walks through the workouts and teaches me the correct way to do things. At no point has she ever made me feel stupid or weak for not knowing or not being able to do something. I can't thank her enough. The other coaches are fantastic as well. They have all been very supportive and encouraging. They are always willing to help me learn and be better. All of the coaches make this place enjoyable and safe to come to. Not only that, but the other members have been great. The people in my class help me and encourage me. Even though I am generally the slowest one and use significantly less weight, everyone has been so friendly. I feel bad when I am partnered with someone because I don't want to slow them down. I don't want to prevent them from getting a good workout. Each time, though, my partners have all been supportive, patient, and understanding. I don't feel the same anxieties I did when I first started (I've been going a few times a week for the last two months). I now feel like I can do this and find that I am pushing myself more. I'd like to start coming more and being more active. read more

I was in Austin for a few days for work and I found Crossfit Rep on Google. It was right next to my hotel as I was staying in the Domain area and I figured I would drop in. The drop-in fee was $20 and was very reasonable for the quality of the workout. Also, you can register online which makes the whole process very smooth. As for the class, coach Erin was so welcoming and the rest of the folks there could not have been nicer! It was a really hot day, but we split the workout between inside and outside to mix it up. I was afraid to try Crossfit because I was sure i wouldn't like it, fit in or be able to keep up. But i was looking for something completely different to just jumpstart getting into a workout routine again and decided to find a place to join. I originally chose Crossfit Rep bc it was the closest gym with the best reviews and not only did it live up to every review but it is so much more...coming here was the BEST decision I ever made for my health. They are so welcoming, friendly, down to earth and committed to helping you improve your fitness. Jake and his team are extremely knowledgeable, providing so many modifications to each workout and constantly coaching you through each movement. i was here only 4 months (loved the gym so much i commuted from downtown the 4th month) and in this time i definitely achieved my goal and felt stronger and could visibly see the change in muscle tone. I've checked out other gyms since and think they still have the best workout; a mix of olympic weightlifting and cardio/free weights. I was always really intimidated by CrossFit. I never thought I'd "fit in" or be "strong enough" to do it! I had built it up to be this big, scary thing that it's not. After hubby started going to CrossFit Rep for a few months and seeing great results, I was finally persuaded to give it a try. So glad I did! Jake and the gang are great. They're very approachable, and made everything very accessible for me as a newbie. Plus, Jake cracks jokes all the time which helps me remember to have fun in the process. Whenever I travel and have time to squeeze in a workout, I always look to Yelp for reviews of Crossfit gyms to figure out where to go. I was in Austin this past weekend and had the chance to drop into Crossfit Rep for their noon class on Friday and wanted to share that I had a wonderful experience. It seems that many of the gyms around Austin want prior notice for scheduling a drop in. I was planning to go to another gym closer to my hotel, but had to change plans last minute due to logistics. I checked out the Crossfit Rep website late on Thursday night and really liked the workout, so I sent an email asking if it was okay that I dropped in the following day at noon. Within a few minutes Jake sent me an email back saying "no problem! See you tomorrow." I love that they are so quick with communication! I've dropped into a good amount of gyms and this was definitely one of the friendlier ones. The coach introduced me to the class and everyone said hello. The dynamic warm up was nearly identical to my home gym, so I knew I was in a good place. A lot of focus on the target muscle groups that were to be used in the metcon. The coach explained to me that they are focusing on pacing and working in scheduled rest in the workouts. He was also very attentive during the back squats and gave everyone equal attention. It was clear there was a method to their programming, and I really appreciate that the coach took the time to explain it to me as a visitor. All in all, this was definitely a great experience. The gym was clean and well equipped (Rogue games plates). The cost was $20 for the drop in and you can buy a shirt for $10 as well. If you're visiting Austin and looking for a good place to drop in, I would highly recommend Crossfit Rep! read more

What a fantastic Box!! I drop in a few places around the country but and certainly most places are friendly, but Rep is one of the friendliest. I love this gym. And I never thought I would love any gym (although I still haven't given into the "box" lingo). I have been doing CrossFit at CrossFit REP for over a year now, and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. The trainers are awesome. They are knowledgeable and encouraging. They push you hard, but also are aware of your limits. I never feel like I am in danger of hurting myself or doing something that I can't handle, because they focus on form and safety and making sure you understand what move you are supposed to be doing. And you know they are only pushing you to do something they know you can do! I would never push myself that hard... The classes are small, and personal - but the community is amazing. Again, speaking of pushing myself at a workout (which is what we all want to do when we work out, right? Get stronger and better?) the benefit of working out with a community is really invaluable. You have someone else cheering you on. Someone next to you also trying to get through one more round of pushups. Or a friend to run with you that last bit of the mile when you just want to quit. I was wary to try CrossFit, I wasn't sure what to expect, wasn't sure if I could handle it....but I am so glad I decided to give CrossFit REP a try. I would recommend it in a second to anyone. I've been to many boxes from Tokyo to the infamous NorCal in San Jose and can say the coaching at Crossfit Rep is without a doubt first class. No matter the class size it felt personal, professional while the feedback was honest and produced real results. I've also been to some boxes where although coaching was decent the programming was repetitive and seemed to have little structure. This box is the antithesis. Every day was challenging, NOT boring and followed a deliberate pattern (structure). In the week I was in Austin I felt as if I had made significant gains despite only being able to go three times. Awesome gym with great coaches and sense of community. They limit the classes to 15 people, so it never feels crowded. The equipment is very well maintained. The workouts are scaled, so as a beginner I was able to workout along side veteran gym members. Even at the lowest level, I get my ass kicked every time I go. Some days I really have to push myself to go, but after the workout I am so happy that I do. It is good pain that lasts for a day and you get addicted to it. The people at the gym are helpful and friendly. As the old adage go, they work hard and play hard. Jake sets up social events with gym members on a regular basis, so you have a chance drink, bbq... with other members if you so choose. read more

Man, where do I begin? I started with CrossFitREP a year and a half ago having never (seriously, NEVER) exercised regularly in my life. Over the years I have tried many things - yoga, aerobics classes, even a few Couch to 5ks, but never regularly enough to make any sort of difference, physically or mentally. I saw some photos of myself in the fall of 2012 and knew it was time. I didn't like how I felt and certainly didn't like how I looked. A friend shared an invite for an event at CrossFitREP and that's all it took. They were running a special for new members and I signed up for 3 months. My first appointment was a 1:1 session with a trainer and the warm-up was more exercise than I'd done in years. When they said I was going to do the workout of the day (WOD), I thought they were crazy. They clearly didn't realize just how un-fit I was. They worked with me to scale the movements to ensure I could do it, and... I did. I remember leaving that day feeling an enormous sense of accomplishment. I did THAT. Me. A girl who isn't an athlete, or even all that physically fit. I did that. I want to do it again. For over a year I've gone 3 to 4 days a week. (That alone is mind-blowing. I never thought exercise would be something I would do, let alone that frequently and for this long). I am stronger and more confident than I ever have been before. I learn something new every time I walk through the doors. Is it easier than my first day? Honestly... no. It doesn't get easier, but you get stronger. The coaching at CrossFitREP is first class. Crossfit Rep is a community of incredible, dedicated members and employees. I've been doing Crossfit for 3 months now and am so glad I started somewhere with such knowledgeable coaches. A main focus is form and safety, which to me are a huge deal. I've had incredible coaching and my technique has improved 100 fold, therefore all of my PR's have sky rocketed. The gym is full of a diverse group of people, all ages, sizes.. all cheering one another one.. We're a community and our coaches are personable, knowledgeable and honestly.. just a great time to be around. I would recommend Rep to anyone that wants to get fit, lose weight, get better, feel better.. Don't let age, inability or anything else stop you become a better you! There was some mix up with other person with same name that's what they said but I don't know what happened. I ended up not going again - I value my time a lot. The support and encouragement I get from Lindsey and Erin I could not be more grateful for. They have helped fix my form, helped me add weight to my PRs, and encouraged me in the middle of workouts. I was in Austin last week for work, and was looking around for a local affiliate that was close to my office. I noticed Crossfit REP was close to the Domain, and dropped in after work on Tuesday. I was immediately welcomed to the gym by Tim, one of the coaches, who pointed me to Jake, the owner of the gym. I had emailed Jake about dropping in, and he responded almost immediately about space being available to jump in for a workout. I ended up doing the barbell workout, partnered with DJ, and immediately felt like a member of the gym. Everyone was super friendly and the gym definitely has a tight-knit family feel. I ended up dropping in Wednesday and Thursday because of my great experience on Tuesday, also grabbing drinks with the group after the Wednesday workout. For anyone looking to drop-in, or become a member of a crossfit gym, I can't say enough good things about my experience at Crossfit REP. If you are looking for a gym that has a great atmosphere and a small community feel, REP is the place to be. I was very impressed by the staff with the focused coaching they provide during workouts, as well as the members who are friendly and welcoming.
