Well someone is extremely late! This location needs to have an opening manager not a regular employee with no accountability tied to their position. Get fit with lifetime memberships at Fitness 19 and gain access to their well maintained machines and facilities! If you can look past their aggressive sales tactics and are already in the market for a gym membership, this location is great and convenient given its close proximity to many great eateries, grocery stores, services, and highways. They share a big parking lot with a few other spots in this mall but typically, you'll find available spots toward the center of the mall. The proximity to the grocery store sometimes makes parking difficult but if you're fine with walking a bit, you'll be fine. The equipments are still pretty new and seem to be serviced regularly and the facilities themselves seem to be well kept. The floors throughout the weight training, conditioning, dance, and bathroom areas are pretty clean. The many wet wipe stations also sets a norm for sanitized benches, racks, and weights. As for modalities, they run the gamut here. You get access to bikes, treadmills, stair climbers, turf for conditioning, free weights, racks for body weight exercises, weight machines, an enclosed studio room for dance and group classes (yoga, Zumba, weight/conditioning), and even a private VIP room for private workouts (with an additional fee). The amenities here are also abundant - showers, clean bathrooms, lockers (bring your own lock), water stations, TVs, hydro massage chairs, cryo/heat bath chairs, and a BMI machine to track your biometrics. For the massage and heat/cold therapy chairs, you'll need to ask the staff at the front desk to activate them for you. As a member, you'll also be able to bring in a guest on Fridays and weekends. Seems like a great opportunity for them to upsell and gain new members but also for you to make a new gym buddy! Staff in general are friendly, especially when the manager is around. Other times, it felt like they were pretty apathetic. A bit more commitment to bolstering a friendly and supportive gym atmosphere could go a long way. Overall, Fitness 19 has what you'll need in terms of modalities like group classes and well conditioned amenities. The prices aren't bad after the initial set up for the lifetime membership to lock in your annual price. The sales tactics can be toned down a bit in my opinion but otherwise, it's a great place to get fit and learn something new! read more

The club manager is polite and encouraging. The gym itself is adequate. They have wasted a large amount of space for their personal training with the artificial grass. They have a good number of cardio machines and I usually see several of each machine available. Their group classes are disappointing with regards to variety. I wish they had Les Mills Combat or some other type of mixed martial arts classes but nope. They one have 1 each of the weight machines which means a long wait for each machine. If you get there after 10 am expect to spend twice as much time as it should take you to get through your weight circuit. There are machines that have been out of order for months and i think they have no intention of fixing them. That brings me to my main issue with this gym. It seems as though it is being run by a bunch of teenagers. There is no sense of a work ethic. They are all very "ho hum" about things working. They have 4 Hydromassage chairs 2 of which NEVER work. I saw technicians once a few months ago trying to fix them but they are still not working. They have an "InBody" device that they manager encourages people to use and he talks about it like a selling point for the gym and even says that members can track their "InBody" results on their phone. This would be great since its nice to have objective evidence of your results. This would be great if anyone in the gym knew how to work the machine. They have it set up to print out your results, but they have not set up the machine to upload to the cloud so members can see their progress in the app. I even contacted the company and got the instructions. I asked several of the people working at the gym and none of them knew anything about how to make the system upload your results. Not even the manager who said it was possible knows how to make it work. Whats more, none of the people who work there seem to think it is important. Recently they locked the keys to the red light therapy room inside the room. The room remained locked for over 3 weeks. They did not think it was important to call a locksmith to unlock the door. When asked about the door, the InBody machine, the broken hydromassage chairs the staff just shrugs their shoulders like its not their problem and they don't really care. I have been to other Fitness 19 locations in the East Bay and TriValley area and they are much nicer. I actually canceled my Fitness 19 membership during the pandemic. They sent me an offer for $5 month membership plus annual fee. So I signed up. They have increased that steadily so at some point I will cancel it. I also have a membership at PF and they seem to maintain their equipment better and have at least 2 of each weight machine which reduces wait times. They also have a few Red Light booths and multiple hydromassage chairs. If Fitness 19 keeps increasing my monthly dues I will eventually cancel my membership with them since the facility closest to me is not well maintained and the staff doesnt seem to care. read more

Prices are reasonable and the facilities are pretty new and well maintained. Definitely better than most of the other gyms I've been to. The personal training is excellent. Jonathan S. and Sean P. are both amazing and super helpful. Jonathan helped with my intake and logistics, while Sean was my trainer. I completed a full year of my gym membership as promised, with the understanding that I would not be charged a cancellation fee if I fulfilled the year. Despite honoring my side of the agreement, the gym never refunded my money. I have called multiple times, and each time I was told a manager would return my call--no one ever has. The lack of follow-through and accountability is extremely frustrating. This experience has left me feeling misled and undervalued as a customer. I cannot recommend this gym based on how poorly they handle agreements and customer concerns. read more

Great gym for heavy lifters. 5 squat racks and platforms, lots of hammer strength deadlift plates, 4 benches, 2 pulley cages (16 total pulleys for lay pull downs, rows, etc), a variety of machines, benches, and dumbbells, and tons of cardio equipment. There's also a large turf area for stretching and sled pulls, as well as a dance studio and a spin room. I haven't taken any of the classes, but I know they offer a variety of classes. The gym is always clean and well maintained, people generally put things back where they belong. It's a huge gym, and I am impressed at how clean and orderly everything always is. Staff are cordial, but I wish a bit warmer, as they don't always greet when coming/leaving the gym. Parking is good in the shopping plaza, and there is a sprouts next door (talk about habit stacking!) this is the largest and best Fitness 19 I've been been to, and I'll keep coming here as long as I live in the East Bay. read more

But the real problem started when I tried to cancel my membership. The process was confusing and drawn out. Even after following their instructions, I kept getting charged. Staff gave me different answers every time I asked, and it felt like they were making it as hard as possible to leave. Caucasian gal at the front desk (with mid length wavy brown hair and false lashes) Wednesday nights around 4-5:30 pm can revamp her customer service skills. I get the red light therapy sometimes and have been picking up a short vibe from this one only, but brushed it off as I am there to focus on me but a few times were a bit to obvious to ignore. One time, I approached her for red light therapy and when I got her attention to request red light therapy she cut me off and said " I KNOW- HOW LONG!"... Really, so you read minds too??? I could have easily asked for massage chair- since I request that sometimes too but the attitude rubbed me wrong. Last night (12/18) I asked to be let into the vault since no one was back there. She smiled and said sure ( mind you she was alone with no one else to help at the front desk), so I made my way over there and noticed she wasn't trailing behind me. She remained at the front desk so I put my bottled water on the back table and did hanging leg raises right in front of the vault table while I waited... and waited... and waited. She never came. I cancelled the vault last night to prevent another foul encounter like that. I'm not asking for her to be fired. These are hard times- but that young girl needs a good talking to on what customer service truly is. I work too hard during the day to put up with this kind of behavior during my down time which I feel should be therapeutic and not uncomfortable. I just may start coming in the morning... This is a great neighborhood gym, well-attended, full of positive energy, and a genuinely welcoming vibe from both the staff and members. The personal trainers are all friendly and professional. One in particular, Anna, stands out, I often see her working with returning clients, and she's consistently kind, skilled, and incredibly supportive. The gym does get busy, especially during the 5-7 p.m. rush, and sometimes you have to wait for weights, but it's usually manageable. read more

I'm so glad that I found this gym and activated a three days trial. It's been a great experience so far. Started on a Sunday am, it was packed at 7 am but luckily this gym has tons of spacious so it didn't feel like I was boxed in. Also they have two of same type of machines. Cardio sides were nice too! 12 stair masters and tons of other machines. I don't use treadmill or elliptical though. I do love the turf area, push sleds and trx and other equipments. Great area for warm up and cool down too! One thing I wish they have more of are the medicine balls. I was looking to get some wall ball and ball slam action but I didn't find anything. Squat racks and deadlift platforms!!! Amazing set up! Decline leg press they have two also! I was bummed they r missing a seated tricep extension machine. I really love this gym, they have lots to offer! Im definitely going to recommend my friends to come!!! Will definitely be back to workout again! read more

I love working out at fitness 19! Right when you walk in you're greeted with the best energy, which motivates me even more to having a great workout. The cleanliness of this gym is unmatched! There are always wipes accessible to wipe equipment off and the bathrooms are kept sanitary and well stocked. I have even took the yoga class they offer at this gym and it has been such a great experience! The instructor does such a good job at creating a relaxing and engaging atmosphere to do yoga in. I really liked this place when I first started coming here about a year and a half ago but don't really feel the same anymore. In the beginning it was a really great change from the completely trashed and rundown 24 Hour Fitness locations in the Newark/Fremont area. I loved that it was clean, the staff was friendly, the equipment was in good condition and free weights were actually re-racked where they're supposed to be. Today, a lot of things I specifically left 24 Hour Fitness for have started to creep in. They keep overselling membership lately and the gym is constantly packed now. It seems like just about every week they have some sort of promotion going on to try get more people to sign up. It's almost impossible to get a good workout in now because of the overcrowding, no matter what time of day I'm there and it's getting really frustrating. With more people, I'm also noticing the same stuff that made me leave 24 Hour Fitness. The locker rooms are dirty a lot of the time, weights and equipment are left all over the place and not returned and there's some broken equipment that's been that way for weeks now even in The Vault area which members pay extra for access to. The lack of bench space in the locker room is also frustrating and two of the benches that are there aren't secured to the floor and practically tip over when you use them. Anyways, management does seem to respond to reviews here and hopefully they actually do something about this stuff. I'm getting close to shopping around for a new gym again. read more

Terrible "Opening" experience. I asked for a quick tour without "having my hand held" and front desk dude stated "that's part of the process?" I suggested that if you were 2-3 feet off of my shoulder what is the difference with being 2-3 feet behind me? Uhhhhh, no response. Look, a "tour" is a tour if you are in front, on the side, or behind me, so this initial "lack of accommodation," or even this "lack of inclusion," for the fitness expert, Me, was eye opening. Now I see in the reviews machines are old and often broken, and memberships are hard to cancel AND folks face continued billing I am now thinking I was wise to walk right out the door and to stay with 24HR. read more

Have used the 7 day free pass and loved my experience visiting Fitness19 gym at Newark. Pros: Great variety and so many cardio equipments available. Good collection of weights and lot of variety weight training equipment for all muscle groups. Nice turf in the middle with weighted bags, kettle bells, rope and many more for good pre and post workout activities and strength building activities. Great dance classes every week (My fav is bollyx, zumba and bollywood dancing) Best part for me is the hydromassage. After an intense 1hr of workout, I have the best time getting this 10mins massage that literally relaxes and massages my entire body. Might consider taking membership just for this perk lol. So far I felt the gym was neat, clean and equipment is well maintained. Restrooms with the blue lighting looks clean and good. Cons: Evenings are very crowded. Everything is good and good machine but one thing i don't like it was they didn't have nice pull ups bar for doing muscle ups because I like to do hybrid calisthenics and weights. I mean they didn't have a straight pull ups bar I feel so sad. And they should have fix that or update it. Also the ceiling is very close to the pull ups bar that mixing up with deadlifts squats racks. Going to cancel them soon. read more

Our Zumba instructor , Myrtle Andres is excellent.I usually attend her class and always looking forward to it. Class is very energetic, v. good music . All age levels can be in her class. 5* for Myrtle. Very good rapport with attendees. In the gym there's always availability of trainers if someone needs help. Lots of different classses to choose from. I should have given a 5* review in general for the review except for just a minor aspect in Fitness 19 . Happy to say very satisfied in joining this gym that I avail of their Lifetime membership recently. Highly recommended. read more
