There was island music playing in the background to set the vibe, along with a map of the Caribbean at every table. My jerk chicken came out quickly and was delicious. The plantains were the perfect consistency, which is important to me because some places dry them out. I asked for a side of pepper sauce and it's quite hot, so consider yourself warned! While I was dining, the owner, Peter, came over and was chatting with the patrons. The ladies at the next table clearly knew him well, and I love that there are local relationships at the restaurant. It was fascinating hearing about his transition from the finance industry in Trinidad to being a restaurant entrepreneur! I only wish I had had had space to try the rum cake. It would be a joy to come back to Irie Diner and support a local business!

Great service from the staff and felt very welcomed as if I was vacation to the islands. I ordered the brown STEW chicken bowl for lunch and he came with rice and beans and I chose cabbage. Everything was delicious. Very authentic taste and I completed my entire bowl. The inside was very nice. There's a bar area and a lot of seating.

Hell - I love any kind of food. Decided to go with this truck because I've never tried them before, no reviews on Yelp or Google either. It was a very indecisive day, so I ordered the Jerk and Curry chicken, both with rice and peas plus plantains. +2 bottles waters. To my surprise the total came out to almost $30 although the menu stated $8 per meat. Whatever. Food was ready fairly quickly and maybe it could have been worth it for the big portion. The first bite was the Jerk chicken, MEH. Did not taste authentic. The curry chicken was okay, but both were spicy as hell and a lack major flavor. Was hoping the curry chicken or the rice would be something my son could eat. Nope. He got ice cream instead - Lucky him. Not yummy.

Although it doesn't look like much from the outside, this hidden gem is a must if you're in the mood for authentic Caribbean food. Once you step inside you feel the ambience of a cozy Puerto Rican place with music to welcome you to the theme. We made it there for an early dinner, so the place wasn't crowded, but it looks like they offer live music for the evening audience. Our hostess and server was polite and friendly. And their menu was pretty good considering it's focus on the theme. We both decided to start with appetizers by ordering "empanadadilla" which was quite tasty and didn't feel like they skimp on the chicken filling which we chose. We both also went with a traditional dish, their mofongo with protein. I had the pernil (roast pork butt) and my wife had the mixed plate, which came with chicken, steak and shrimp! The meals also came with a house salad. Although I went with a simple soft drink, my wife tried their signature margarita. It was quite good, although it was a bit on the strong side. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly, even the mofongo wasn't overly garlicy, which other times we've had it, it was. The decor was up to standard within the theme and music wasn't too loud. And surprisingly enjoyable overall. The best part was when getting the check, the prices were adequate for the amount of food we had. Didn't feel hungry at all when she came back to offer dessert. I would highly recommend this place and will be back if in the area again.
