Open doors during LA fires with AQI of 150+ in Burbank

I cannot stress how much I implore you to avoid this gym. The staff absolutely does not care about the quality of equipment, experience, or health of members. Today, the air quality index (AQI) was over 150, which is considered unhealthy, and the gym had all of its doors and windows WIDE open. Multiple people asked Brenda at the front desk to close it, and she did nothing. Finally, when I called her out on how unsafe it was, she said rudely "well, you can close them yourself." Then when I asked to cancel my membership out of concern for my health, she silently pushed a form my way and then declared it would be 30 days to cancel, so I'll be charged two more months*. This is a money hungry business that caters to their friends only, and everyone else does not matter. So disappointing. *When my friend cancelled months ago, they fraudulently charged her card for FIVE MONTHS!

    Please return my calls :)

HARD TO CANCEL AND HARD TO GET IN CONTACT WITH. BUT THEY WON'T HESITATE TO CALL YOU WHEN YOUR PAYMENT WONT PROCESS! You get 2 stars because your staff was friendly, the place was clean and had everything I needed. But you are impossible to get ahold of. I moved to an apartment complex with a gym in April of 2023. I emailed to cancel my account. The guy asked me if I had filled out a form, I replied I didn't know I had to fill out a form. I got no reply but they appeared to stop the payments. After a month I got charged again and emailed to try to cancel again. No reply. I called the number listed on Google and nobody answered, and I got the "this voice mailbox has not been set up yet." I forgot about it again until I switched banks and got laid off. Since there was no money in my account anymore I started getting calls from unknown numbers in Texas and they'd leave voicemails trying to collect payments. I called to cancel at Fitiquity again and no answer, mailbox not set up. I just saw I got charged AGAIN. I looked up Fitiquity in my bank statements and in the time where nobody called me and I didn't see a charge, turns out they'd just been taking heaps of money once it hit my account!! and called my bank to block payments from them. Im unemployed now and I could really use the $700 they more or less stole from me. I take a little responsibility for not emailing them over and over again to try and get it sorted earlier, but come on, THIS many non-replies? Not answering the phone? VOICE MAIL NOT SET UP??

My two oldest children, who were around nine and six at the time, started dropping in to BBC while I participated in other classes at the Y. Coach Steve would invite me in and I would politely decline, opting for Zumba or spinning instead. I had already decided that I wasn't coordinated for boxing and didn't want to look silly (because I looked awesome doing Zumba? Ha!). Eventually I got bored with my usual routine and decided to step outside of my comfort zone. I joined my kids and confirmed that I was, in fact, completely uncoordinated, awkward and clumsy. However, Coaches Steve and Maya are welcoming, supportive and motivating so I really didn't feel as silly as I expected to. The class starts with a good group stretch then a warm up which could be anything as members take turns leading the warm up. Next up is shadowboxing followed by jump roping before Coach selects two members to do a demonstration in the ring (sorry, no sparring at present). Afterwards, we glove up to hit heavy bags, speed bags, Bob or pair up with a partner and some focus mits. Then we grab a mat and do abs as a group before finishing off with another stretch. It's a great two hour workout at any level. The club is comprised of all levels of skill and everyone is willing to help with form and answer any questions. Keep coming and you will start to feel like family. I know I have and even though I'm not always consistent, it feels like I'm home again when I return. This is one of the best (if not the best) programs at the YMCA!

When booking a class online, you'll be prompted to choose your station. Keep in mind that you'll either begin at a bench or a bag. I accidentally started at a bag because I wasn't familiar with the layout. While it is labeled on the booking screen--'B' for bag and 'F' for floor (bench)--it would be helpful if that were made a bit clearer during the booking process. The studio is dimly lit, which actually works in your favor--if you mess up, no one will really notice. The class moves at a fast pace, so if you're new, I recommend picking a spot with a clear view of the instructor. I chose a station in the back and found myself a bit lost at times, but I just kept moving! The workout is split into two parts: halfway through, you switch between bag and bench. It's a great full-body workout, and definitely worth it. For your first class, gloves are provided, but after that, you'll need to bring your own.

Spinning/cycling has been my go to for many years, but it was time to try something new or rather incorporate something different along with cycling. Rumble is the perfect addition! I feel like the setting/environment is similar to a cycling studio with the dark room, black lights, loud music, and just awesome non stop energy all around. So it just want I need to keep myself moving/motivated. I was a little intimidated at first but the instructors are super friendly and encouraging. The room is split between the bag side and the floor side (with weights). You can start the workout on either side (up to you) and we rotate during the class. So far I'm really enjoying Shannon's class and Louis's class! Can't wait to try the other instructors. They have early morning classes and evening classes to accommodate almost everyone's schedule. They provide towels and even a cool towel at the end of class. I've really enjoyed the workouts overall and look forward to class and the feeling of accomplishment afterwards! Let's get ready to rumble!!!

Even going only once a week, I saw strength and endurance improvements during the 4th class. His classes are fun and it's set up so that he can give you one-on-one guidance in the ring, even if you have zero experience (like me). He'll train you at your pace to learn more combos and moves with each class. The entire class itself is a great workout with practice in the ring and bags, and floor/circuit training with varying exercises using weights, TRX, battle ropes, kettle-bells, medicine balls, etc. Members/students are also wonderful people as we encourage each other to keep going. Definitely give it a try. First class is FREE!
