The studio is spacious and clean, with water bottle filling stations, cubbies, and bathrooms. My friend did not have her own yoga mat and the studio was able to lend her one. The instructor, Emily, was friendly and welcoming, especially being we were probably the only new students in a class of regulars. The class itself was perfectly challenging in all the right ways! Barre is such a fun concept and Barre Balanced executes the class wonderfully. My friend and I had a great experience here and both agreed we would be back for barre or another one of their classes if we have the chance again!

Each class has a great ab/core segment, but you will find you're actually engaging your core the entire time which is great. You can start at any fitness level and literally walk in with NO idea what you're doing like I did, and soon enough your body learns the moves. The instructors really know how to challenge you (and get those muscles shaking!), but still walk around and observe each client, ensuring you're doing the moves with proper form, for safety and for best results! I'm a mid 40's male and now almost exclusively train with Kettlebells while occasionally adding in some sandbags and running. Since early 2020 I left the confines of the gym and went to the local high school track in the mornings and have never looked back. She is always pushing and challenging me. Even when I am not sure of my abilities, she strives to get more out of me. This personalization is what I've always wanted and that other schools are lacking. In addition to the dance instruction, Julie is a blast to work with and we laugh the entire lesson. I'd been to classes at another venue before, and while I enjoyed those classes, I do appreciate the different levels they have at Salsa in the Suburbs. They structure the classes well so that you can put together a routine by the time you finish up a course. The instructors are very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We went to one of the later classes in the series, so we needed some clarification on a part of the routine that we had missed in prior classes. One of the instructors, Craig, was great about showing us what we had missed and helping us both get it right. He didn't just show us what we had asked about; he asked us to do the entire routine to make sure we understood it all, which was great. I'm looking forward to attending the rest of the classes in this series as well as the higher-level classes.

Last year when I heard that the oh-so-awesome megaformer workout was coming to the main line via…read morethis new studio named Plank, I signed up right away! And then I was hooked. The workout was incredible and gave me more strength and definition (in 3 classes/week) than barre classes ever did (in 5-6 classes/week). And it was a perfect compliment to my first half-marathon training. Megaformer classes gave me a lot of strength and power when running and that extra strength even helped take the pressure off my back, allowing me to run 13 miles without back pain (vs. the pain I had when training for a 5 mile race a few years ago before I was in megaformer shape). Hilary and her instructors are all welcoming and personable and I really recommend the studio and the workout to anyone in the area. There is nothing else close to megaformer in my opinion. The website is pretty user friendly and its awesome to have the schedule online and up-to-date. Basically, you sign up for the classes you want to take that week and the system generates "My Schedule" showing the times and the work outs you've selected. You even get an email confirmation! Class cancellations and payments all happen through the MindBody Scheduler system too. I really like the free week membership; 7 days free to try as many classes as you want (I think they cap it at 50). It's a pretty sweet deal and I signed up for it all from the convenience of my own home. While the experience of signing up was very efficient, I knocked off 2 stars because when I arrived at CrossFit for the yoga class I signed up for, there was no one at the front to greet or direct me. I wandered around until I found someone who looked like he worked there, who wasn't interested in giving me a run down of how things work even after I mentioned it was my first time. He didn't even offer a pen for me to fill out the waiver for. Perhaps this was just a rare happening because it was a Sunday morning, but still. I didn't feel super welcome.

Frank and his staff do such a fantastic job. They take the time to explain and demonstrate all movements and analyze and correct form during warm-ups. They constantly keep an eye on form and correct immediately, if necessary, always keeping members safe and efficient. The box has grown over time with members and equipment. In talking to Frank, I am excited to watch his vision come to fruition and I am confident it will. CrossFit Abbellire continues to grow and evolve. I cannot say enough positive things about the box. The coaches were friendly and super supportive throughout the entire work out. I was greeted with a smile and felt very welcomed in the gym. The community provided a lot of support to one another, which is always a great vibe to feel in a new gym. Definitely felt comfortable here. Best of all, they provided a great workout! Frank and Julia gave us plenty of time to warm up and then reviewed all the standards for the class. Once we were ready to go, they were constantly cheering us on and pushing us further.
