This place is overrated. I went here for my anniversary and this was one of the worst dinners I have ever experienced. My bill was $150 and I basically threw away everything because it was inedible. I ordered this bacon wrapped blue cheese olive martini- horrible concept. Bacon oil/fat and meat chunks floating in vodka does not go down well . My bf ordered the basic surf and turf; the steak was overcooked & dry, and the lobster was deep fried and battered... Lastly, fishbones claims to have "fresh, quality seafood," I would strongly disagree. Seriously save your money! I ordered the ahi tuna and when it came to the table, I almost confused it with rotten raw chicken. It was gray in color. I've eaten at Fishbones about two dozen times over the years. I've spent thousands of dollars at this restaurant. This review hurts me more to write it then it does for Fishbones to have. Fishbones is an event restaurant, the sort of place you go for graduations, anniversary's, and birthdays. In other words it's an event to go here. I came to write this review for several different experiences I had here. The service has become horrible. Ale house and Chilies has better service than Fishbones and that's saying a lot. You're also forced to pay a mandatory tip witch really just infuriates you when your waiter/waitstaff is MIA and your paying for food that is about 30% overpriced to began with. The service has really become atrocious for the type of restaurant they are. Another visit I had with a large group of people was again, a horrible experience. 4 of the 6 members of our group were waiting up front for the hostess to clear us a table for our reservation we made. She then told us all 6 of the people need to be here. We informed her they were in the bathroom but she persisted and made us wait, letting others go around us. This is not something a premier restaurant does. Especially on a half full Thursday night. However the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant occurred about 8 months ago. I was celebrating a 24th birthday when the bird day girl wanted to order a glass of Prosecco. The waitress asked for her ID, then paused and began to inspect the ID closer. She then said the date had been expired by a day and refused service. I asked to speak to the manager where he was hostile towards me and completely disrespecting me (a customer). The manager chose to argue with me saying you can't even drive with that ID, which is an absolute LIE being under 2 weeks expired. Someone from Fishbones will respond to this saying "we have to follow the law" Which it's not even a written law, the law states a valid ID, which is funny, it was accepted by the TSA the night before as a valid ID thought airport security. However, they don't care about the law. Because if they did they would check every single 50+ year olds ID to see if it expired. They don't. The staff absolutely RUINED a dinner. I don't want a free drink, a desert, or a meal. I want Fishbones to improve their customer service and understand their place in this world. Because at the end of the day the world does not need Fishbones. They are fighting an uphill battle with their aging restaurant and overpriced menu. I came here in a suit for an event. We have dozens of world class restaurants right near by. After how I was treated and what they did I will never come back again. One step better I told all of my peers about your ridiculous actions absolutely no one I know will ever dare celebrate a birthday at Fishbones. read more

I'd made a 7:30 reservation over 2 months ago... we arrive, the place is jammed with 50+ people waiting on tables. We checked in an were told "our reservations are running a little behind." A "little" behind turned out to be an hour and 20 minutes behind - yep, finally got a table at 8:50! It didn't get much better from there. Our waiter pretty much made light of the fact that the place was chaos. After the hearing about the specials, another 15 minutes past before we saw him back to give our order. Then another 15-20 minutes past before we saw our bread and salad - ughh... our main course arrived at 9:50PM. The quality of the food was actually very good, and it was the saving grace of the night... But all in all, it made for quite a Valentine's Day flop. We won't return any time soon. read more

My wife and I have been loyal customers of FishBones, Lake Mary for 10 years and have always had excellent service and outstanding food. BUT, there always seems to be an exception, and we encountered it Thursday, December 31 (New Year's Eve). We, as always, made a reservation. We arrived early and checked in at the podium. We waited outside for an hour (35 minutes past our reservation time). I finally went back to the inside podium and announced that we were leaving when I was immediately told they could seat us. We were taken to a dingy, wine rack room with no abience. The waiter took our drink order and delivered it immediately. Shortly thereafter a table of approximately 8 people (3 young loud children) which destroyed our expectations of a romantic, celebratory evening. This is not to be interpreted as we don't like children....quite the contrary we have 9 grandchildren and love them and all children with whom we come into contact. This occasion was over the top. The waiter delivered our starter and later returned to take our order. We both ordered filet mignons and an additional order of shrimp to share. We also ordered a red wine to go with the steaks (our first round was a white wine). The orders arrived....one white wine and one red; one filet and an order of shrimp. One steak was conspicuously missing. My wife had to eat her order (steak and 50% of the shrimp as there was no offer to take the food back and bring everything out at the same time, their mistake not ours. My steak was eventually delivered by a member of management, my wife was finished and my shrimp were cold. Our wine order was corrected and an additional glass of red delivered with no comment. I took a few bites of steak and decided not to eat alone so I placed the shrimp and steak together with a request for a box. The waiter stated that he was taking one wine off as a courtesy....huh? I didn't order the additional glass in the first place. I told the waiter this was the worst experience we had encountered in the 10 years that we had patronized FishBones. He stated that he would get a manager...fast forward no manager came. To summarize, the meal order was wrong; the wine order was wrong and then an additional glass of wine was delivered that was not ordered. We paid, stated that we would not be returning. Further, we were not expecting any courtesy except for an acknowledgment of the string of mistakes and an apology. Management seemed not to be concerned. There are many fine restaurants in the Sanford/Lake Mary/Heathrow/Winter Park and Orlando areas that are equal to or better and that's where we shall be taking our business in the future. Finally, we are not....repeat not complainers and have never registered a complaint at FishBones in the past. read more

This restaurant finally moved away from the Floribbean style and back to a more traditional menu. Thank goodness! Our dinner tonight was fantastic! The filets were cooked to perfection and melted like butter. The whole snapper was wonderful and the fried shrimp to die for! The butter cake and caramel cheesecake left us speechless! Went to restaurant for happy hour without a reservation. Asked to sit on patio, told that they didn't have any openings. So we said we could sit at the bar. They sat us in a booth to the side of the bar. As we began to order we were told we couldn't order happy hour menus at a regular table. We asked for a bar table then and were told they were fully booked. We explained that when we entered we had asked for the bar or patio. They refused to make an exception to their policy on serving happy hour at a side table. Meanwhile the restaurant was engulfed in a monsoon rain and lightning storm and the entire restaurant bar and patio had 3 tables occupied. We spoke Mike the manager who said he would see if he could help us and left us standing waiting for about 5 minutes. We finally left. Had they told us the bar was full we would have left and gone elsewhere without bad feelings. The bait and switch and poor customer service has lost our business as well as anyone who understands that good food is only a part of the experience. read more

Like all talk of the town restaurants, it is some of the best quality in town. This is a great something for everybody place. One person could be in the mood for Sushi, another Steak, another shellfish. They have you covered in all cases. The staff here is ok, not bad, but not very attentive. That and the fact that since this is the same restaurant company the steaks already taste very much like Charley's is the only reason I don't give this 5 stars. I would grade this a 4.5 if yelp created that option. The manager on duty cut the lamb chop himself last time I was there and came around to see how I liked them so Kudos to him for that. He's a great guy. Never had a bad meal here. I highly recommend the prime rib. The lamb is very good, especially the mint jelly they give you with it. The oysters have always been top quality no matter what time of year. It smells just like Charley's when you walk in. And that smoked with a hint of citrus smell and taste is the signature of talk of the town restaurants. Great place. Always a good meal. Fishbone's has been hands down my favorite restaurant for many years. Quality and service were consistently great. We have dined there 4 or 5 times over the last few months and have slowly come to the conclusion that it is no longer worth the money. Food quality and service levels have both declined. Our most recent visit was on valentines night which I realize is a busy night but the basics were missed. My wife ordered the filet and lobster tail which was delivered by a food runner who didn't ask if we needed anything with our meals. The waiter had removed her knife and fork with the salads and had not replaced them, she also was not offered or received drawn butter for the lobster. After waiting over 5 minutes for the waiter, I removed silverware from another table so she could begin her entree. The waiter arrived after another 10 minutes, blamed the food runner for the silverware but made no apology. When the drawn butter finally arrived, the lobster was cold. Both the filet and the lobster were a lower quality than in previous visits. We finished the celebration with the carrot cake which had little flavor. In summary, a meal that cost over $200 should be a superior dining experience. We have no intentions to return any time soon. read more

We went really to check out the food again, in anticipation of booking a 60th birthday party for 30. The location is so convienent! Such a disappointment! So glad we went, if our party were there I would have been mortified. Fried calimari was greasy and breading fell off if you tried to dip it in the provided sauces. The shrimp in the shrimp and scallop dinner was so dried out, it was like leather. The bread was A+ and our server Ryan was great.Manager Tina was very nice. Four of us had cocktails and dined. The atmosphere is lovely, but the beginning was questionable. My date ordered a Manhattan and it came with two black olives, really??? The waiter made suggestions to enhance our choices and seemed put out when we stayed with our original orders. My shrimp and pork chop was very good, although enough to bring half of the chop home. The other meals were good but not outstanding for the price (scampi and Mahi). We ordered coffee, it came without spoons or sweetener and was very luke warm. We sent it back. Today I personally witnessed a miracle. My wiener dog jumped off of the bed and became paralyzed from breaking her back we suppose. My wife was calling the emergency vet whilst I microwaved my left over porkchop from the dinner we had at FishBones the night before. At this moment the unbelievable became reality. I can't explain what happened for I truly do not know. My guess is all I have. I assume the aroma from the juicy and delicious porkchop sent a wave of delicate and robust flavors shooting towards my bedroom. Moments later I hear scratching...... I said to myself "this can't be real, I'm imagining this." Then I heard the yelp of a hungry wiener pup. I nervously grabbed the door handle and turned... she was standing and wagging her tail staring lovingly into my eyes. I fed her a few pieces of porkchop and needless to say she has fully recovered. So thank you to the chefs of FishBones for creating food that can cause my mouth to water and cure my paralyzed wiener dog. You guys are basically Jesus. read more

I live 5min from the restaurant and it use to be my go to place for a great meal, not anymore! The prime rib was dry and the Australian lobster ($44.00) was over-cooked. Fish bones used to be one of my favorite restaurants to eat at but after covid they re opened and the prices went up. The entree sizes are smaller (not including 2 sides anymore). If your going to spend $35 on piece of fish, at least offer one side, before they offered 2 sides. Also we told the waitress we wanted the house merlot and she kept trying to up sell us on this $200 bottle, which is very sneaky. The resturant won't have a lot of returning guests with these price increases and decrease in entree servings. Upon entering, impressed with the ambience, the charm staff, the manager greeting. Our reserved table of six was seated in what was clearly a room for large noisy parties. This restaurant had many rooms to accommodate 6 people, we were put in a room with groups of 12 to 20 celebrating 21st birthdays and similar. The wait staff was accommodating but missed several times. The experience deteriorated quickly as the six of us had to huddle together just to have a conversation with one another and the waiter had to keep repeating himself because simply too loud. I just I'm surprised we weren't moved at that point. We dine at white tablecloth restaurants, very used to the prices of things like bone-in ribeye dry-aged, Seafood selections Etc. (I picked the place too) My $21 cup of lobster bisque has zero Lobster in it and was returned with the apologies from the wait staff stating the kitchen miss the boat, forgot to add the lobster. Unfortunately, they checked on my soup when everybody else was finish their appetizers. Five of the six of us ordered appetizers & the sixth person was never offered his salad and bread with our apps. (Or even a slice of bread) Odd for bottomless salad. When salads finally arrived, we were shorted one of the six salads. Again, we all had to wait and by the time all had salads, entrees arrived before salad completion. Although the food was adequate, we weren't dining at an expensive restaurant to have adequate. An undercooked fish dish was explained they had to do that so by the time he came to the table it wasn't dried out. I ordered a filet with bearnaise and for aged steaks grass-fed or not it was mediocre. Again, white tablecloth experience, right? Six hundred dollars later, we felt cheated. Honestly I usually visit for the outside bar at happy hour. One annoying thing is that the appetizer menu leaves a lot to be desired. I've been coming here on and off for years and every time I look at it I'm underwhelmed. Also they need to invest in more waiters. For the prices they charge they can afford it. This is a great place to relax with friends on the patio bar or inside the restaurant. Food is good and happy hour (4:30-6:30) prices are great on food and drinks. Service has been poor every time we have come and sat in the patio area. The servers almost always congregate at the bar and enjoy what looks like great conversation with each other but not much attention to customers. We keep saying we will sit at the bar next time to get better service but so far never have. read more

Bad experience. Overpriced and food was burnt. We ordered the sea bass and it came out black on the bottom. We complained after hearing the table next to us complain also about their food being burnt. After complaining the waiter told us he was hoping we would said something as the dish shouldn't of looked the way it did.
