I visited with my nephew today and was blown away by the fish & shrimp combo (with red snapper). My nephew ordered the catfish and shrimp w/mac n cheese and French fries. The seafood was fried to perfection and I enjoyed it with multiple dips (tartar sauce, malt vinegar, ketchup and hot sauce). I don't eat a lot of carbs bit their Mac n cheese was done the way it should be (southern style). It was reminiscent of the cooking of church sisters after services. The French fries were well seasoned and tasted as if they were prepared with fresh oil. The staff is friendly and efficient our food was brought to our table like pronto. In addition to the combo which includes two sides, the meal comes with two small hush puppies and a soft n fresh dinner roll. I'm from out of town, but whenever I make it back to Southern California, a stop by FISHBONE Seafood in Menifee is an absolute must. My nephew and I were so happy with the food that I had to share. When this place opened up, the food and service was exceptional... then I ordered yesterday for my daughter's birthday and it changed. The fish was still exceptional, however, the red beans and rice were old because the rice was crunchy, the banana pudding was soooo old it had formed a skin on top, and the slaw was old and soggy and the fries tasted like it had been rewarmed or refried. I was truly disappointed and especially since I paid $125 dollars for the meals. I should have known when I ordered at 3:45pm and they said it would be ready at 4:30pm and when we got their at 4:30 we still had to wait because it was not ready, and the place was empty of customers. The fish, shrimp and oysters were delicious, but the deserts (banana pudding and peach cobbler), which is made be a third party, were awful and Fishbone wouldn't take responsibility for the items they sale and were quite defensive about what they sale in their establishment. We placed an order for pick up & live about 15-20 mins away. The food was still fresh & hot when we made it home. Catfish Po boy - It had a little too much going on for me & had a weird taste. Not sure if it was the chipotle mayo or the lettuce choice. But I ate the catfish by itself & it was good. First time visit with my mom for dinner. I forgot to get a photo of her grilled salmon with peppers and onions but both meals were delicious and a good size portion. We definitely have leftovers for tomorrow. She also had the red beans and rice and collard greens. They were great too! The young lady that helped us was pleasant and very thorough with showing everything she gave us was in our order. They have a large television to watch and had Thursday night football on prime showing which was great. They have several tables to sit at and enjoy your meal. The only thing I found odd was no drink fountain so you have to purchase a bottle but they had a good selection. I am sure we will be back again. read more

This place is a hot mess. I've gone there even though people have said they are horrible and there fish is slimy. I went to get my husband some fried JUMBO shrimp (x2 different times) and they did the same thing. I paid $30 for the 20 shrimp meal and they charge xtra for jumbo. But each time they gave me medium shrimp. This last time I took it back told them and the young girl (she said she was the mgr) Zoey. Argued with me about the shrimp. The catfish filet was fried good and seasoned right but it tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. the fries were soggy and cold the okra was salty. The customer service was awesome but the food was a big no. Waited over 30 minutes which is no big deal but the food should of at least came out hot and fresh. Great location for some southern-style seafood. We stopped by on a weekend and noticed it was pretty empty. The tables were neat and clean, and it doesn't seem to get very busy. Most people we saw were there to pickup orders. We didn't order ahead but did ask for takeout. We did the fish, shrimp, and oyster family meal for $59. We got a pretty big box of food that felt worth it. We chose the Cajun catfish filet and red snapper for our two choices of fish. The oyster tasted great fried. My absolute favorite were the shrimp and fries (one of the sides we picked). I would go back just to order even more of the shrimp! The meal came with two sides (we chose fries and cole slaw). The fries were amazing with the seasoning. The coleslaw was a nice, refreshing side to the fried fish. We also got 4 dinner rolls and 4 pieces of cornbread. The dinner rolls seemed like the general Hawaiian bread, but the cornbread was nice and warm and crumbly. The serving staff was patient with us looking through the menu and taking our orders. Came by today for daddy daughter lunch and it was pretty good but they might need to tighten up a few things for consistency. I ordered the fish(snapper), shrimp(grilled) oysters(fried) with Mac and cheese and rice and beans for sides. The oysters tasted pretty good and seemed fresh but all the fried items were a bit over cooked and the batter on all the fried items seemed to be too heavy handed with the black pepper. The rice and beans had the heavy pepper and with the items being over fried it had a salty taste to it. I'll give them another try to see if it was an off batch. The service was good and pretty quick. Maybe 10 minutes after order completed. Looking forward to try again. I'll update review after next visit. read more

I chose the fried snapper and my sides were red beans and rice and greens. The fish and shrimp were spot on, good flavor and a nice thin crispy layer, not greasy. The shrimp were good as well. The red beans had nice amount of andouille and were well seasoned. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the greens. They were cooked well but a little flat on flavor. Seemed like they were seasoned with black pepper and not much else. I like my greens cooked with garlic onion and smoked ham hocks. Fishbone needs to hire all new cooks that are consistent. Fish is either over or under cooked. The corn meal comes off the fish and shrimp. The fish looks unappealing and the seasoning is hit or miss. Try changing to Louisiana seafood fish fry. It's perfectly seasoned and it stays on your fish. They also have a shrimp fry that's wonderful. Macaroni is horrible and so is the coleslaw. You've been open to long now not to be consistent. You need to go try Louisiana Seafood in Moreno Valley and take a few notes from them. You will definitely do a stronger business., their fish is always perfect. read more

We were looking at menu, the gentleman informed us when we were ready to just ring the bell. We rang , we ordered wait time was average about 15 mins. Food was hot and fresh very well seasoned. I'm not a big fish eater. But today my husband and my father wanted fish. So I went along. I'm a convert! Had the fried snapper and the okra. Delicious! Okra's got a little kick, but def not too hot. Fish was cooked perfectly, and I loved the seasoning and the tartar sauce. Bread was great, too. Husband and Dad both loved their shrimp and fries. Place is clean, including the bathroom. So the oyster lunch is 2 hush puppies, a yeast roll and about 6 fried oysters. I got a sweet potato pie too. I'm not biased since I didn't grow up eating southern food. The red beans and rice are better than Popeyes and has some sausage in it. The oysters were crisp and breaded and seasoned well.
