This is our go to spot when we're craving fried fish or shrimp. It's located in Hawthorne with a small parking lot shared with several businesses. The restaurant is always clean and service is always friendly. Prices, especially lunch specials, are very affordable. We've gotten the red snapper, catfish and shrimp po-boys. All were good but we noticed the catfish strips are very thin and small compared to what you get at the other Fishbone we've visited. Overall it's good and hits the spot when we have a fried seafood craving! read more

This is now a local spot for me, and I'm glad it is! My dad's family is from southeast Texas, and getting a Louisiana southern style fish fry that is flavorful and consistent is not easy! My husband and I got the grilled combo this time, and I've gotten the fried once. Go with the fried shrimp if nothing else! The combos are where it's at. It isn't 5 stars because the quality of the snapper this time was not the same as the catfish last time. Also this time the roll was stale and last time was fresh. But the sides!! I recommend them all so far. Hush puppies, the greens (I add a little hot sauce in mine and these were good enough to drink the pot liquor yum), red beans and rice, veggie rice, all very solid. I also liked that they cut the little slits at the top for takeout since it is fried food you won't want it steam up much to get soggy! read more

This is a tasty little place! I ordered a red snapper combo with shrimp, red beans and rice, onion rings, and hush puppies. Everything was tasty and I was really impressed with the red beans and rice. The shrimp was salty. The red snapper was good but they are not true filet pieces. They are cut in small pieces, but overall they were pretty good! read more

Nice people but gumbo wasn't up to par. Ordered take out but when I got home I was surprised to find the rice already mixed with the gumbo. So I'm sure you can imagine the dish was about 4/5 rice and 1/5 gumbo. Also rice was hard and grainy indicating it was either under cooked or day old. Also ordered a fish and oyster combo dinner which was ok but for $20 plus bucks, I thought they were a little frugal with the amount of fish and oysters in the dish. read more

came here for a late night craving it was so terrible! Fish was not crunchy at all super chewy & not flavorful at all. I should've known something was up when the lady in the front told me she makes the tartar sauce herself !! It was 98 cent for a small cup of it !!! Mind you. Then they got the nerve to be high! & not sell oysters à la carte. I will never ever come back if you want hood fish go to a good spot terrible 2/10 and only 2 for presentation smh disappointed had to throw my whole meal away !!! read more

I've been to Fishbone before in Gardena and ordered a PoBoy. Fishbone don't have the best Poboys but it's ok. This time I went to Hawthorne. I ordered a fish dinner and when I opened it up it was full of hush puppies but three slithered pieces of fish. It looked like the took one filet and cut it up three times. I was so disappointed how small the pieces were. A toddler could of swallowed it whole. I spent $45 on bullshit. My macaroni salad was spoiled. I had Mac salad and fries on my order but the worker said we could only choose one so she gave me the Mac salad. I want to speak highly of business in urban areas but this was terrible. My mother dinner plate was the same. Give us what we pay for or better yet make a dinner plate tha you would want to eat. $45 Down the drain. read more

Absolutely love this place. I am only in the area 1 week a year and I will eat here at least 3 times! Oysters cat fish shrimp and greens (double order) is our go to! It's always great I'm sure the other items are as well but I can't bring myself not to get the oysters and shrimp! I always steal a bite or two from the wife's catfish! read more

Salty shrimp !!! Sheesh The shrimp was old and the hard ssa rolls they serve with it .I wouldn't recommend this place to a homeless person

Had lunch at your Crenshaw Baldwin location. Order fried oysters the lunch special. When I open them up it was nasty looking and smelly. Ask the people at the workers a the counter they both said I don't eat oysters and that they couldn't take back my food or offer something else. Bad business. read more

I have been going to this location for years, but yesterday I received substandard food. I ordered the family meal with filet of sole and medium shrimp. The shrimp were small and not freshly cooked. The sole was so thin it was like fish skin. Sole is not a meaty fish, but I would like to have more than skin and batter. I am deeply disappointed. I will not be ordering from this location again. read more

Seafood is delicate. Especially, shrimp, the greatest care must be used when preparing. I found the Shrimp PoBoy Sandwich, deficient in flavor and seasoning. The flavor is lackluster, and the heat is overpowering. Heat in abundance, flavor in deficiency! The only side available with the sandwich happens to be strong fishy tasting fries. While there may be many words to describe these inedible fries, the first words that comes to mind are YUCKY,YUCKY, YUCK! Disappointing and underwhelming. read more

This little place is located in a small shopping center and is always clean, the staff is very pleasant and friendly, and all the food options are delicious! You can get fried or grilled seafood options that are made with a southern NOLA flair. They do have Monday lunch specials, and they're closed on Sundays. You can also easily call your order in for pickup. Parking is a little challenging due to space limitations so exercise patience. read more

Came here on a Wednesday evening on Juneteenth, I got the fish and shrimp combo with 2 sides. The red snapper was dry and tough to eat, the red beans and rice were okay, but not the best; it tasted like the red beans were not fresh (it had like a reheating flavor to them), and the potato salad was not my favorite; they tasted like store bought. My partner got the catfish, red beans and rice, with onion rings. Some parts on the catfish were too salty and others lacking flavor. Overall not that happy, we won't be coming here again; sadly. read more

So ordered the catfish dinner w/2sides. First off lady at the counter very nice left them $20tip. Once I saw my food I regretted leaving it seeing the size of my catfish filet. This isn't a filled. Definitely got robbed. Not going back for $20 meal that should be a $10 meal. read more

Great for dine on. Not so much for takeout if you order something intended to be crispy or crunchy. Plastic containers end up steaming food so crispy items like fish and chips ends up soggy. Quality of fish is outstanding. read more

Food is consistently really good and the staff is awesome! It is the only place my husband will go for fried fish.

Oh my goodness, y'all absolutely nailed it! The greens were insanely good, the seasoned veggie rice was a treat, and the salmon, well, I'd give it a solid 4--it was slightly overcooked. But collectively, it was a 5-star experience. Coming from a background of top-notch cooking skills and growing up on delicious meals, it's a real struggle to find excellent food in my hometown of Los Angeles. Normally, soul food spots here miss the mark on their greens, but this owner really knows their stuff. I highly recommend trying the salmon, greens, and rice. I've never had fried salmon before, but I might give it a shot after this fantastic meal. The establishment is spotless, and their customer service representatives are cool And if you're ordering fried fish, don't forget to ask for extra seasoning--it takes it to the next level! read more

We ordered the fish only 16 piece catfish and 20 piece shrimp combo with a side of fries (not pictured). The catfish pieces were not only tiny, but SUPER THIN. More like chips than fillets. For almost $70 (for fish and shrimp) I expect a lot more. There was essentially no "meat" in on the catfish at all. Would NOT RECOMMEND ordering fish from here. The shrimp was good but it was not enough to save the experience, so I will not be back to this location. read more

Great fried shrimp. Excellent service. Kind folks and straightforward menu. Check them out!

Interesting location. Definitely was hyped with the fish lover in me. But for the price of a 3 piece catfish combo and 2 sides it was up there. $16 otd with a drink. Now if only the taste was there I would've added 1 more star to this rating. Good parking, and inside is clean and organized. Service was mediocre at best, but maybe because it was a Sunday morning and the lady didn't feel like working I can understand. But she was still helpful and guided me through the menu. Bravo for her! Overall, I can find and eat at different fish style places like this not to far and I would have gotten a tasteful experience. Then again I might have gotten a bland catfish set of pieces. Either way, I'll prob give them another shot if I ever come to the same area and update this review. read more

Po' Boy with grilled shrimp, side of red beans and rice, hush puppies and Peach cobbler. All very delicious and fresh. Next time I'll try the shrimp fried. May have to ask for extra shrimp probably for an extra charge because the serving is small compared to ratio of the French roll. Red beans and rice are very good and hush puppies are yummy too and they have a little kick of spiciness to them.Great service- phoned in my order and it was ready in 15 minutes. Nice and friendly. Staff. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Overall, its very clean and great menu selection and I was very satisfied with my order. Looking forward to trying more from this place. read more

This is my spot but y'all over cooked the SHRIMP. It was inedible. Luckily I was able to get my money back from DoorDash, but y'all can't be overcooking shrimp!
