Having spent a few days in Blue Hill (and consumed many lobster rolls), the lobster roll at Fish Net was among our favorites (and probably second place overall). If you like a relatively minimalist lobster roll like we do, it's pretty perfect, with just a little mayo, enough salt to give the meat a bit of flavor, and a generous portion of perfectly cooked meat. The onion rings are my platonic ideal -- thinly cut and just a little crunchy batter. The fried pickles were surprisingly good too, again not overly battered and the pickle slices are not at all mushy. The house lemonade is great as well, and the chocolate soft serve was some of the best I've ever had. Lots of seating outside but in a rarity for the area there is a decent amount of booth seating in the cute inside as well. Would happily eat here every day if I could and would still love to try the crab roll! read more

Terrible service and mediocre food. I stood in line for ten minutes no one in front of me and they refused to take my order. I assume there is something wrong with customer service because the locals say so but wow I just walked away. Went another time before and got an ice cream and only got service because the manager recognized me from work and asked a work related question. They don't care about all their customers and when I got the scallop plate no seasonings and tasted like they let it sit for five minutes covered before getting it to me and there was no line. I hope it's not the same every time but the last three times were like this and I live half a mile away now. Shameful read more

Im a fish & chips fool, probably order it everywhere I can find it to see who's is the best including nearly every eatery in Bar Harbor and Ellsworth, but the contest ended right here! The day I stopped at the Fish Net they had Halibut fish & chips on the special board and although it's not regular menu item, it was the clear cut county winner! read more

Quick stop for fresh lobster rolls! Just park and order. Not a lot of places to sit, only a few picnic tables. And it's not as scenic as others that are by the water. But the food is good. So if that's all you need don't miss it! read more

Cute little place right on Main St. that was our first experience with a classic Maine lobstah roll - my husband ordered it and it was exactly as you picture it: fresh lobster, mayo, split-top bun. It was expensive for us landlocked folk who gasp a little at seafood prices when we venture to the coast, but what you'd expect from fresh Maine seafood - and it was delicious. We saw the guys in back bringing in coolers of more fresh stuff when we left too. I ordered the fried chicken plate with fries and cole slaw (much more affordable) and it was great. Super clean and cute, with a few cozy booths inside and picnic tables and a small play-set outside. Wait-staff inside, or you can just order at the window outside. Friendly service. We stopped here in hopes of having some of the fresh seafood that Maine is famous for. We ended up being thoroughly disappointed. Despite the lobster roll being nearly $20, the roll itself was a disproportionately small, half stuffed hot dog bun. And the only thing the lobster was fresh out of was the freezer. Aside from our roll being much smaller than the ones posted in other reviews and being overly expensive, the taste was mediocre at best. This also goes for everything else we ordered, such as the shrimp roll and cheeseburger, which was said to taste like it had been frozen for 10 years. If you're looking for quality, fresh seafood for a good value, you better keep looking. But if you want to settle for an overpriced, painfully mediocre, frozen seafood joint, this is just the place for you. read more

Sadly, I agree with the poor reviews. I love chowder and had read about the poor reviews for the Fish Net's offering, so I asked for a sample. They had none because the soup was already portioned out in containers, so not fresh out of the pot. My husband got an oyster or clam sandwich, which was pretty tasteless. Customer service was a bit brusque. The slaw was inedible, and the blueberry pie wasn't worth eating. And it takes a lot for a pie to not be worth eating. This one was cold, runny and had an odd taste. On the plus side -- the location is cute, the fried haddock is pretty good (though not particularly large), the large ice cream is gargantuan (though a bit tasteless), the fountain Coke is delicious, and the fries are great. As I recall, the prices on the permanent menu board above the windows where you order were lower than prices posted elsewhere. So just check it out. read more

In light of the Covid19 pandemic you would expect some simple precautions, right? Masks by employees covering faces? Gloves on hands? Not here. Awful handling of foods based on what I saw. Young woman taking orders had a mask that that kept sliding down exposing her nose and mouth. Unbelievable. Want a cone? Don't expect me to take a napkin and protect the cone before I hand it to you with the same hand that just took cash and kept pushing my mask back into place. These were young women who I don't fault. The owners/managers should be on top of this. Obviously they are not. read more

Overpriced, mediocre clam shack. As a native New Englander, I love clam shacks. And I also know that certain dishes like lobster rolls and whole belly clams can be expensive. But 50 bucks for two lobster rolls, two sodas, and a side of whole belly clams is pushing it. I'm not a big fan of mayo, so the only lobster rolls I eat are the hot lobster rolls which are made with warm lobster and butter. To me this is the only way to eat them. I gave the Fish Net two stars for being flexible in making me a hot lobster roll. The only problem was it was not hot... not even warm.. the lobster tasted like it just came out of the fridge, ice-cold and slapped into an untoasted bun with moderately warm butter. The extra 30 seconds it would have taken to heat it up would have made all the difference. All in all, if there are any other clam shacks in the area, you may want to give one of them a try first. read more

We purchased two live soft shelled lobsters, a slice of coconut ribbon pie, and a scoop of pistachio ice cream. The pistachio ice cream was delicious. Coming from a Blue Bell fan, I might even say it was better than Blue Bell's pistachio ice cream. It was as if the ice cream was also toasted, not just the pistachios. At $3 for a massive scoop, it was well worth it. The coconut ribbon pie was good. Had thick layer of cream, coconut, and then a thin layer of chocolate all sitting on top of the crust. The crust wasn't as good, but the coconut and chocolate sections were good. Now the lobsters. We got two 1.5lb lobsters and they were delicious. Boiled together for 12 minutes and they were perfectly sweet and meaty. Only $6.50/lb made it a great deal! read more

I was going to order a lobster roll, but at $17 a pop for a fairly small sandwich-- I decided against it and went with a more affordable bacon hotdog at around $5, still a bit over priced and small but affordable. I also ordered an order of french fries which were comparable to McDonald's fries but a lot more expensive at about $4. If you like katshup be ready to pay .25 extra per package. If you want to sit in the air conditioned dining room you need to order from the inside. I am assuming you need to pay extra for that too. The dining room was empty. I asked if we could sit there but they said no and that we had to sit in the outside dining room. That one has no air conditioner and it was also empty. Most of the patrons were enjoying the outdoor picnic area instead. If you want tap water.....yes, extra also. I had a small order of coleslaw. It very cold which is real nice, but a bit under seasoned for my taste. The young lady at the counter was very nice. read more

Was looking forward to having delicious seafood and thought that this restaurant was a good place to stop. Came with a fairly large group of people and ordered a substantial amount of food. We were apprehensive about finishing it all since it seemed like it would be to much. We were completely mistaken. The lobster rolls consisted of a small pile of meat between a tiny hot dog bun. They also stated that the lobster was fresh and local but it obviously tasted frozen. Not at all what I was expecting for 20 dollars. I understand that seafood is expensive but for that price I was anticipating much more. The food was not enough to fulfill us and we had to bring in leftover Thai food that we had to fill us up. It was overall very mediocre and not what we deserved based on the money we paid. Extremely disappointed and was not worth the trip. read more

The Fish Net is the best place to get the best seafood besides what you get when you first pull it out of the ocean and cook it on the boat. Seen much better days and in need of love. We use to enjoy bringing the kids here to play while we grabbed a quick snack. Unfortunately, the place is fading. Pieces of the swing set have broken and are not replaced, one 1 of the 3 swings are still hanging, the slide is broken, a rung on the kids laddy missing (kind of dangerous) and a plywood repair is iffy. The prices are also very high for what you get. The lobster roll tastes good but its as much as any other place if not more and you don't get any sides and its pretty small as others have mentioned. The corn on the cob was good. The kids menu is way way overpriced. The cheapest option is $7.75 and most kids items are $9-$10 bucks. The BP&J and grilled cheese are just way to pricey considering this is a roadside shack with crumbling play space. This spot use to be great and can be again, just needs a bit of tweaking. I'm rooting for it to get an injection of love for next year! read more

There isn't a dish on the menu I don't love! My favorites are the lobster stew as well as the lobster roll, which I think is the best I've ever had anywhere. The blueberry milkshake is also amazing. Oh, and the onion rings are superb! My son loves the kids menu and the play set outside. We come here multiple times when we visit Blue Hill because it's quick, convenient, and delicious.
