Owner is a good guy and helped me scale up size on a new tank. I out grow a 10 gallon from petco and came here for some nice fish. I'm greatful to God there's fish stores like this. Picked up a couple freshwater plants and a half dozen guppies for a nano tank and within 3 days all but one guppy died, the plants just fell apart (no, it isnt "melt" when stems just crumble) and now, a week later, my tank has both a bacterial and fungal infection, which has taken 4 more of my fish. One purchase from this store has completely wiped out my tank. 7 years of the hobby came to an sad (and expensive!) end all because these guys dont keep clean tanks and sell healthy fish. Will never shop here again. If you MUST buy from them, quarantine everything for a few weeks before letting it ruin your tank. read more

I purchased 5 fish on Saturday - 2 x $85 4-5" cichlids, 2 x $20 2" cichlids and a large silver dollar, totaling $261. I asked the salesperson whether the smaller cichlids would survive in a 200-gallon tank with an Oscar and he said definitely as they are quite aggressive. There was no question that the two larger cichlids would be fine. When I woke up Sunday morning, only two of the fish were left - one of the larger cichlids and the silver dollar. The two smaller cichlids were gone, and I assume eaten by the Oscar. The one larger cichlid was laying on the bottom of the tank dead. I took it back to the store on Sunday and the salesperson said that there was nothing that they could do. I accept responsibility for the two 2" cichlids as I thought it was a risk that they could be eaten. However, the larger cichlid should have survived as it was too big for the Oscar to eat, and I should have been offered a replacement or at least two more fish for the price of one. I showed the salesperson a picture of my tank with the surviving large cichlid and the silver dollar and crystal-clear water. The salesperson hid behind the "You will need to come back tomorrow and speak to the owner; I can't do anything" line. I had already driven from Oceanside to Temecula on Saturday and Sunday and couldn't come back Monday and stated that this is your opportunity to fix this. The response - Sorry, nothing that I can do. I have subsequently discovered that the $85 cichlids were overpriced as I bought a replacement at another close by store that was less expensive. For potential customers, please be wary - this store is overpriced, has poor customer service, and no return policy. read more

Stay away from this fish store! I've been In hobby over 20 plus years and have been to many stores in my time but never one this bad. Me and my wife just moved here not to long ago and I had moved my tank with me and set it up. After a few months of us settled I finally decided to see what the area had in terms of fish stores. First one the was recommended was fish frenzy! I went in on a wensday mid day to take a look. Overall shop was small but somewhat clean! Selection was basic for dry goods and pricey for fish/coral. I wasn't gretted by anyone when I walked in but saw a kid wearing a hat beanie working on some tanks. He didn't acknowledge me until I actually asked for help. The main reason why I was there was to ask if they do tank services as my tank could use a little tlc from our move. I asked the question and he immediately responds with " well we have a super busy schedule and unless you spend big bucks with us we don't really care for you". He then goes on about well we won't even touch your tank unless you spend money here. We don't just go to anyone. I was totally thrown off by that. What fish store tells someone sorry we won't service unless you spend big bucks here. I just needed a simple service. I then said okay well I'll spend some money and hopefully that will wand him to service my tank. Well I guess not. He proceeded to say look sir you just wasting our time and not buying anything and if you think you can walk thru our door and just get a tank service you thought wrong. I wouldn't even service your tank unit i know you're a legit customer. What terrible customer service that is. How do you expect to have loyal customers if you can't even help them. Your customer service is terrible and your selection and prices are just ridiculous. I walked right out got in my car and typed in nearest fish store. A place called coral smugglers popped up and I went right over there. Walked right thru the door said the same thing and within minutes we had a service planned with a schedule! I also bought some good stuff from him too! Fast forward 2 months and he is the only fish store I go too! If anyone in the area is looking to shop at fish frenzy don't go! Amazing! Excellent customer service! My husband and I originally came to this pet store to find a Betta fish for our son and medicine for our son's goldfish. He got a goldfish from the fair and it was unsurprisingly dying when he got it. We spoke to one of the staff (wish I could remember his name, has a beard). He was absolutely amazing. Although they don't carry beta fish we told him what we wanted and he gave us ideas and showed us some beautiful live plants to put with the fish. He also told us about how a filtration system and having a water heater for our beta would be best for him even though we will find him in a small cup at a fish store. We even came back from Petco to get more plants for the tank the same day just to give them our business. Our son was excited to show him his beta fish. He undoubtedly helped inspire our son to have more fish in the future. We will be returning again very shortly, probably later today today to be honest. Another reason we highly recommend this pet store is because the staff member could have just as easily sold us medicine for the goldfish but he was realistic about how it's unlikely that we would be able to find the exact medication the fish would need considering fair fish can have a multitude of problems. He advised us to factor in the price of the fish, the cost of the medicine, and our connection with it. We decided not to get medicine and somehow this fish is getting healthier despite not getting medicine. This is an excellent fish store. They carry beautiful fresh water and salt water fish. They also have the most beautiful plants to put in your tank. read more

If the customer service was even close to the appearance no other shop would have it an ounce of business. Everyone will go here. Vince the owner interacted with my son my wife and my daughter for the transaction in question. His response is not truthful. According to my entire family he pushed this fish onto my son. He just got a new shipment in and he was trying to clear out old inventory this fish had been there for a long time. If it was healthy I don't think it would be a problem at all but he knows it wasn't. This is the reason that he offered my son a discount. We got the fish home and it died days later.The lies and deceit or an issue for me way more than the cost of the fish. However I'm over it there are multiple places in town that you can go and receive good customer service and not have to worry about being tricked or treated unprofessionally. I spoke with the owner Vince and co-worker Casey, no pressure and genuinely wants to discuss your needs along with options that best suits your style of aquatics. They were very busy at the time I arrived and I can understand why. After patiently waiting my turn, they transitioned and focused on what I was looking for and helped me accomplish that. They were friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable. As a consumer I can honestly say that I do not write very many reviews. However, this was a review I felt needed attention. I have read some of these posts and feel they are very misleading and written in a sense of spurious and ill manner. I am a firm believer in, (You get what you pay for). Where to start. My family and I have been going to fish frenzy for almost 1.5 years now. Our neighbors told us about this place. Also the local Petco and PetSmart told us about FF. So we had to go see it. I am so glad we did. The staff is young but they all have fish and most of them breed fish. Why does this matter, you ask. Well this means they understand how this all works. The staff has a passion for keeping fish. On a side note my 6 year old son has 120000 questions and they are happy to answer all of them. Also all the fish I buy from them are alive today. They are clean, healthy, stress free, and happy fish. I agree with a few people who say the store gets busy. The reason is they are the top store to use. This hobby has grown in popularity over the past 15 years. But good places to go have not. This store is they best store to go to hands down. But one of the side effects of this is you may have to wait your turn to get help. It is well worth the wait. I have a fresh water tank and because of Fish Frenzy my tank is working great. I have bought well over 40 fish. And I not longer have 30 of them. Those 30 fish did not come FIsh Frenzy. They came from large stores. Once I started buying and going to FF my tank started to do better and now I have a tank that is happy. I was in the store this 4th July weekend and it was busy. I was greeted by a staff person with in 30 seconds of walking in the door. I would say their was 4 groups of people a head of me. I walk around and then had my family come in. We looked at fish for 2 to 5 minutes. Then one of the staff members (Collin) came of and answered a few questions. Then when back to job selling a few things to people. He got it right. Then (Casey) came over when he has a free minute. He helped answer more questions we had. Yes my son had a few hundred questions for them both. Once we had our answered he went back to finishing with his client. We spent about 45 minutes in the store. We saved about $1290 when we ran the numbers for a new tank. The selection and prices are better than online and Amazon. I looked. They even have access to a customs stand maker who is local. Let me say this. If you want fish or have fish go see them. If the store is busy then look at the fish for a few minutes. You will feel better. Do not expect to walk in and out in 3 minutes. This is a family owner store. They have quality staff and fish. Give them a few minutes to wrap up the sale they are on. They will get with you and help you. You will thank me you gave them to extra 10 minutes. On a second side not all the local fish store only have 1 person on staff who knows any thing about fish. They all shop here. I know this because the told me this. I have a little 10 gallon tank. I was down to 3 fish due to their age, so I went to a local chain pet store to stock my tank. My 3 year old granddaughter loves to look at the tank! Sadly, within a few days, she noticed all the fish disappear. I decided to choose a small, locally owned store to stock my tank again. The owner, Vince, was very knowledgeable and polite and treated me as if I were stocking an expensive salt water tank, even though it was a tiny fresh water with inexpensive fish. They are a bit overpriced in both fish and corals compared to other places I've been to. You're better off ordering online in spite of the shipping costs. Every time I'm there I often see fish that don't look sales floor healthy and despite my best efforts, ended up bringing back some fish that did indeed have parasites. So if you do buy fish make sure to quarantine and treat for parasites both internal and external before adding them to your main tanks. I don't suggest asking them for advice if you're not familiar with a certain species care or requirements. They will readily give their opinions and personal experiences but its just that, an opinion. Most of which goes against sound factual advice and at your expense. So if it fails, even if it was their advice you're SOL because they don't guarantee any of their fish or livestock. So don't impulse buy before doing some research. Usually, that's not a good thing to do anyways, but definitely not here. For example; They keep several brackish fish in their fresh water tanks. This is ok if it's temporary being on a sales floor because many brackish species start out their life cycle in fresh water streams before making their way back down to brackish outlets or even full marine conditions to the ocean. However, proclaiming that they can live in fresh water indefinitely with a little aqaurium salt is either down right ignorant or blatant disregard for proper care. There have been other instances as well but I feel this is enough to get the point across. Customer service is iffy. Sometimes it's great other times, you may be ignored or even skipped in favor of someone else. read more

Not only are the corals in ruff shape and the tanks have algae growing everywhere but they don't care about safety at all. There were five guys working and no one had a mask on. The store is tiny so it's not like you can avoid them. What really stood out to me most was how I was treated. I tried asking questions and I was given short answers with a cold attitude. Mean while another customer (white male) was getting friendly treatment. To top it all off the owner then said I was lying (seen in the screenshot) and that I'm just an entitled person. I was turned on to this place by my dad. I had been here in the past with him and seen how things were ran here. Everyone seemed knowledgeable and were always willing to answer questions. Yesterday I stopped in since I just started a freshwater tank (55gal) just 3 weeks prior. The gentleman that helped us asked what we already had in our tank so I told him; which consisted of 4 Tiger barbs, 1 bala shark and yes a gold fish. Who surprisingly holds his own. I'm pretty new to when it comes to this. So we asked what we could add to our aquarium and we were pointed out to a few of the tanks with fish that would work. We ended up picking up another Tiger barb, 4 guppies and a fiddler crab. We did the process needed to put them in our aquarium and all looked fine. We left to the store and when we got home we could only locate 2 of the guppies. Then thats when I found one in the claws of the crab and another stuck on outtake piping for the filter. His fins were pretty much gone. I then started to notice the Tiger barbs chasing the other 2 guppies. After looking at videos online. These 2 species do not mix. It was pretty much a death sentence for these little guys. My point; I would think the staff would be kno of this. Also doing research on the crab. They need brackish water in order to live. Meaning they need some sort of salinity (salt) in the water to live. So even he won't make it in my tank. This just tells me this place will sell you anything to make a buck and let you take it home regardless if it dies or not. Sorry;but I will not do buisness again with this place.
