The most amazing seafood chowder and a good selection of wines to go with it. Amazing service. Smiles all round plenty of seating.

When in Hobart, seafood is the #1 choice. For our first dinner in town, we met up with friends and let them choose a spot. We were in Salamanca Square already so our friend suggested Fish Frenzy. We dropped in on a Thursday evening (around 7:30pm) and the place was busy. No problems snagging a table. You order at the counter, tell them your table number then they'll bring the dishes out to you. Service is friendly and I even got a free tartar sauce. The menu is short with premium fish, chips, Frenzy favourites, a pier platter for two ($98.00 AUD), shellfish, from the grill and salads. Prices are definitely on the higher end. As others have said, you're paying for the wharf side views. There was also two specials (fresh tassie blue eye and potato wedges) on their chalkboard menu. Tartar and chili coriander sauce ($0.50 AUD each) is in the fridge and ketchup (pay by donation) up on the counter. - 2x Fish frenzy ($21.00 AUD) - two pieces of crumbed fish, three scallops, three calamari and chips. Scallops and calamari were nicely crumbed and tender. Sadly, their fish was dry. Crumbed breading is the way to go; so much healthier and less greasy. Chips were standard. - Grilled octopus (north west coast) ($25.00 AUD) - with chili, oregano and garlic marinade on a garden salad with tzatziki. Octopus had that tender, almost crab like texture to it. Decent portion. One of the better places that we've had fish & chips but be prepared for a heftier bill.

The photos look much better than the taste of freshness. Very busy but line moves quick the fish van in triabunna area was way better price and fresh unfortunately but good atmosphere Value 3/5 Atmosphere 3/5 Service 4/5 Quality 3/5 13/20

Lunch, I had the Blue eye Trevella battered with the Special Of The Day, Tasmanian grilled Scallops in garlic butter. From a separate counter I had a Tasi Sav Blanc. Be sure to get the tarter sauce and chili sauce from the reach in case, extra charge. Fish was amazing as were the scallops. It was the Wooden Boat festival and everything, though busy was on point!

Fresh Fish! Oysters a must try and the price is good for what we are offered. Loved the fish burger and the shark attack. The portion is really big and perfect and so is the place. Loved the location. We went on Sunday afternoon and it was pretty full but the service was fast.

As other reviews have stated, the prices appear to be higher than other seafood restaurants. I ordered the scallop special not realizing how little amount of food would be on the plate. The four scallops were smaller than the size of a US quarter. Fortunately, I had also ordered the potato wedges which helped fill me up. Although they were called wedges, they were actually potatoes sliced in halves. The chili mayo was a better condiment than the usual ketchup or malt vinegar which I am used to in the States.

It's expected that you will indulge in lots of seafood when in Hobart and Fish Frenzy isn't a bad place to do it if you're after something casual. There's views of the water, tall ships and expensive catamarans. The outdoor tables are pleasant on a warm day and it wouldn't be complete without some seagulls eyeing off your chips with their beady little eyes... When it comes to the actual food... well expect to pay a bit for what is essentially run of the mill fish and chips. $30 for grilled fish and average over-dressed salad seems a bit rich to me. Bruny Island oysters (6 for $14) are good but being pre-shucked earlier in the day means you miss out on all those great juices. The chips come wrapped in a paper cone and are big and chunky. Good, but nothing special. What IS special is the views here and the ability to dine so close to the water. So, choose a great day and I'm sure you'll love this experience.

A waterfront fried food emporium where you order at the counter, tell them your table number and the food is delivered to you. The prices are high but you are paying more for the location than quality ingredients and cooking. One of us had the Fish Frenzy which was fried fish, scallops, calamari and chips. All were good except the fish which was not particularly tasty. The other had the Blue Eye Trevalla tempuraed with chips and it was much better.

Fish was excellent, service was good as well. The chowder is excellent and has lots of seafood. You don't need anything else.

Great family restaurant on Hobart's waterfront. Would love to see more Tassie ciders on the drinks menu.

Lots of seafood options to pick from but there was one sirloin option for meat eaters and one vegetarian pasta. Afternoon oyster orgy (aka happy hour) was offered everyday from 3-5pm and the oysters were a great deal at half price. The six we ordered were large and fresh and came with a red wine mignonette. Other places charged extra for anything other than plain lemon wedges with their oysters. The fish of the day was a blue eye fillet which was a thick white fillet and with a very nice creamy sauce. The broccolini was perfectly cooked and one of the best in a long time. Potatoes rounded out the plate and were a good complement. Seafood linguine was served with a generous amount of shrimp, calamari, fish and scallops. Pasta was al dente. For dessert we finished off with their sticky toffee cake with a scoop of caramel ice cream. It brought back memories of our first one last year and was a satisfying end to dinner. Great service from the various staff members throughout our dinner. Would come back on a future stop in Hobart.

Here's what we noticed: - A tour guy had told us that Mures Upoer Deck would be the same food as on the lower level, just pricier, but I don't think that is true. The menu was very broad, there's great cocktails, and a comprehensive wine list, and food that you can't get in the more fast food-like atmosphere down below. - We had a reservation and when we arrived, the place was practically empty. They seated us at a table by the window; the views were beautiful. - We decided to order cocktails off their cocktail menu, although some of the cocktails were supposed to be smoked and the server said their smoker wasn't working. We got them anyway and they were very nice. - We decided to start with a few oysters and the octopus salad. Both were really tasty. For our main course, my wife and I split the full flathead fish, which seemed to be a special that day. When it came out, we asked our server how to cut it, and he said he had never done it before so he didn't know himself, but that the chef cuts down the middle so that's what we did. The fish was really nicely done, and the other items on the plate added to it all very well. - Service was pretty good, but as I've noted, our server didn't seem to be very experienced, coming by our table way too much to check in. I think at some point he got the message. I wanted to just eat my dinner. Bottom line: We had a great experience at Mures Upper Deck and would recommend it to anyone looking for a little fancier evening.
