Stopped in Monday for the first time after spotting the place a few weeks ago. The store doesn't look that big until you walk into the 7000 square feet that seems stocked with everything you might want or need for a tank. The phone booth in Doctor Who came to mind :D. The displays of livestock were amazing and owner Roy's personal not for sale tanks were up there with displays you might see at a city aquarium. I am currently setting up a saltwater tank and was looking for live rock with checking out possible lifeforms. The customer service was over and above exceptional, even telling me to give the rocks time to make the tank ready when I mentioned what type of crustaceans I was interested in buying. That they were more concerned with the tank being ready adding creatures than making more sales immediately was mind blowing. Felt more like hospitality than shopping. When I mentioned I lived about an hour away, the owner double bagged with plenty of water to be sure everything would arrive in good shape. Prices were more than reasonable on living creatures, especially on some of the corals. I definitely will be back to get what I need on each step of putting this tank together. The Fish Factory is a small aquarium store with everything you need to have an aquarium. We had trouble finding the store even with GPS and it took us to a back parking lot behind the adjacent gentleman's club lol. The employees were super friendly and knowledgeable, especially Jim who helped us in the saltwater department. They have a lot of beautiful fish, coral and other saltwater creatures. We ended purchasing some cleaner crustaceans at the advice of Jim to help keep our new aquarium clean. We purchased Mexican turbo grazer snails, emerald crabs and a Goby. We also purchased a pair of Banggai Cardinalfish but unfortunately one didn't make it. The only thing I couldn't understand is why the floor was so wet in the saltwater department. I cannot go into how nice this place was. There was both fresh and saltwater fish left and right. Employees were all very helpful. There was such a nice variety if coral. The place was overall pretty clean, and stocked. There was just something that made me feel like I was in luxury, and that was the well being and the numbers of variable corals and fish. There were supplies that you most definetly could not find at your local petsmart and such. The prices were actually pretty reasonable, in which other fish stores may have the same livestock selling for over twice it's price. Love this store !!! Prices are fair, selection is great..they have a whole POND of red roof floaters that are amazing!! Two separate fish rooms, freshwater & saltwater! They have fish I didn't know existed! The customer service is unmatched. I was greeted immediately, Jim was so accommodating and kind. Very knowledgeable too, I'm pretty new to the hobby and Jim was able to guide and help me without judgement. Roy the owner is also so kind! I didn't realize until I got home that he gave me little goodies from the business (pens , flashlights , cards, coupons) I got the most beautiful little blue and green shrimp that are thriving! This is the only place I go to buy fish, plants, and other supplies. Sure, I may find my Seachem products cheaper online but definitely not fish and plants. Their stocks are healthy though I still recommend quarantining as a common sense practice. Recently, their goldfish stocks have gotten much better and higher quality, they even have really fat Pearlscales and chubby Ranchus. They are expanding the salt water section and adding axolotls to their animal collections. In the Spring, their Koi pond is open and occasionally the owner's dog Sammy, will hang out around the store too. The owner may appear a little cold at times, but only towards customers who have no idea what they're doing or don't do their due diligence (i.e. I dumped my goldfish into tap water and now it's dead!). I find their staff and the owner to be incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They will even offer to feed the fish so you can assess whether it will get along well with the rest of your stock. After a few mishaps (ich, viral infection, bacterial infections, sick fish) from Petco, Petsmart, World Wide Aquarium, Hidden Reef and Pets Plus, I only go to them from now on. 5 of my 6 fish were from there. Now I'm not one to normally write a review but I had to this time and it will be my first one. This is my first time attending the store and the staff was very helpful. There is plenty of selection with freshwater to saltwater to plants, food, anything you would need. It's a small business that is great to support. The staff is very knowledgeable and helped walk me through which fish would work best with my existing ones.They also can tell when fish have diseases and they put a huge NOT FOR SALE on the container. A huge step up from those name brand store such as Pet Smart and Petco. Would definitely recommend to anyone that takes a hobby in aquarium keeping. read more

They have a nice selection of dry goods and food but it is pricey. As far as the fish goes, it was depressing. They have them penned up in little dirty tanks that are way too small for the fish. Many of them looked to be nearly dead. Some tanks contained fish that appeared to be dead for some time. Probably the worst I've seen in a fish store in my 35 years of fish keeping. I actually wanted to buy some just to rescue them. If you do buy fish there, quarantine them. But know that you have no idea the condition of the fish since they're in spaces too small to swim. read more

They will try to sell you everything! Be aware!!! But overall no complaints. Really healthy stock, fair to high prices, and very personable employees make this place a good experience everyone. In the past I would stop at both hidden reef and fish factory. Now with the way the reef went down hill I skip it all together and make this my only stop! Thanks guys! My two complaints are that the back of the store where the fish are kept smells really musty and that a lot of the fish are kept in really small tanks and seem kind of crammed in there. There was one larger fish in the back that was freaking out in the tank but didn't have anywhere to go because the tank was so small. Poor little guy! While there we asked one of the employees for a recommendation for algae eaters for our tank and he was very helpful. We ended up leaving with two fish, but I don't know that I would necessarily go back. read more

Fish factory has deliveried again. I had bought goldfish food from Petsmart & Hidden Reef & both claimed not to cloud aquarium water & of course they did. So needing filters for the tank @ the senior center I asked Roy (owner) what he used to feed his goldfish in display tank & the ones for sale & he said Omega One pellets. Roy has never steered me wrong before so I bought a can. This morning I fed our fish & yipee no clouding !! Roy has been in business since 1989 & is growing each day cause they care about their customers satisfaction. That is the beauty of an independent business, they go beyond what the big stores do, many now are part of corporate America & they do not care whether you buy something or not. Someday just maybe they will realize their marketing snafu's and adopt the same mindset but I doubt that will happen. And for Roy's sake I hope they do not. read more

This is the worst place ever! My husband purchased a yasha goby on Thursday afternoon and by Saturday morning it was dead! Our water was perfect and the top of our tank has a screen. The owner did absolutely nothing and threw our dead fish back at us!!!! Never again!!! read more

If you are a serious aquarist , Do not shop here. The fish are in horrible small overcrowded tanks with dead decaying fish. The plants are rotten , the pond plants are withering. Even the live black worms are infested with planaria and parasites. The staff is lazy and need to shower and the owner will sell you a dead fish if you turn your head while he is bagging it. Went here quite a few times in the last couple of months. Got a mystery snail (who is doing well) as well as several plants. I was very happy with everything and the man who helped me was knowledgeable and very kind. Only thing that wasn't great was the quality of their betta's. They only had maybe 4 or 5 and the are in cups that look to be like 8 to 10 oz. very sad, most of them looked sick or dying. Other than the bettas this place is a good choice! read more

As a cichlid enthusiast i thought they had a great selection but the customer service and attitude of the one employee/owner was terrible. Every time i went to this store i would always greet him with a simple hey hows it going, and would only get a look with no response! Really? Being that you have a larger more popular competitor right down the street don't you think you should try to show a little appreciation for your business and interest. Great aquarium store. I frequent this place just about every weekend, & continue to be impressed. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Prices on dry goods are low. Great fish selection, & always have been healthy on my visits. They even sell used aquariums & equipment when available. I'll give four stars just for the knowledge and the attitude of the staff. They also keep a huge variety of cichlids. The complaints that the holding tanks are too small for the fish amuse me. Yes, the fish need room to swim but it is what it is, a holding tank, it shouldn't be big, especially if their turnover is fast. I cannot say enough amazing things about the Fish Factory. This is the only place in the Bucks County/South NJ area I will buy my cichlids. They have an expert for every type of fish keeping. These people know latin names, common names, species compatibility, behavior, illnesses and treatments, you name it. You're not going to find this kind of knowledge or level of professionalism at any other place in this area. If there's something you don't see but want, they'll get it for you. What can I say about this place. It's a bit crazy. They are changing stuff around every day. My favorite thing about this store that sets it aside from the rest is the fact that they buy and sell used stuff. I come in all the time looking for deals on used stuff however it looks like they are phasing this part out. The prices are kind of average. If this store plans on staying afloat in the presence of it's huge competiters I think they need to bring down the prices and focus on used stuff again. I've been using the Fish Factory for all of my supplies for the last couple of years. The employees are very knowledgeable and genuinely care about what you want and what you need. There are a lot of fish stores in the area, some pet stores and some fish specialty stores. but this one is the best. The owner Roy has been in this spot for years. From the outside, you see a tiny little store shoved between a bar and a mechanics. Inside it is like Aladin's cave, full of fish treasures. Everywhere the eye can see are items that will help you keep your tanks healthy and clean. As for the livestock, all I can say is amazing. The corals and polyps are the most healthy and beautiful I have ever seen in my life. They seem to thrive under the care they receive from the owner. Every person in that store is trained to provide optimum service to the customer. If one person doesn't know the answer to a question another will. They work hard to see to it that all the fish are kept healthy until they go to their new homes. I have never seen an outbreak of red slime or other poor water conditions here that I see at other stores. Even the feeder tanks look clean. Take a drive by and check them out. Not impressed. A sales girl asked us several times if we needed help, but then when it was time to checkout, there was no cashier to take my money. We waited at the register for ten minutes before someone decided to ring up the purchase. I would prefer to support the local businesses, but I have had better experiences with Petsmart.
