HORRIFIC service and terrible food. What more is there to say? Stay far away from this place…read more I'm a Managing Director of an important corporation. My travels have taken me from living in 4 continents over 10 years, to working various projects in over 30 cities worldwide. What's my point? It took this horrific restaurant experience to persuade me to open up a Yelp account and, for the first time, share. I was persuaded to visit this "restaurant" by the Yelp reviews. I'm currently living in Malaga, Spain a port city known for its seafood. I've also lived in other port cities in Qingdao, China and Old San Juan in Puerto Rico. So I know and appreciate good seafood. Their seafood is the akin to KFC or McDonalds. Which, coincidentally, is where the owner of the restaurant suggested we go to after complaining of not having food, more water or an opportunity to order a bottle of wine after over an hour. They didn't even have many people in the place! This pre-Madona thinks he's running NOBU in NYC (my hometown), but I can wholeheartedly say he's got nothing to brag about. The food is terrible, not even mediocre. With an attitude like this, first, your food has to be amazing. If you're in Paris, NYC, or Tokyo and are willing to subject yourself to abuse for, known/famous, ritzy restaurants then I won't judge you. But to be subjected to terrible service and ridiculous waiting times for terrible (not fresh) seafood, then you're a masochist. In my opinion they might as well be serving Zika.

Istra is actually a Croatian restaurant, and they specialize in seasonal grilled seafood and truffle pasta. There is no standard menu - more a choice of 1, 2 or 3 course meal. The star is their fish platter which consisted of grilled fish, grilled calamari and shrimps, over a head of mixed root vegetables. The owners don't speak a lot of English but they were very hospitable. I highly recommend reading through their websites before going so you know what to expect. Now the food. Spectacular is the only word that came to mind. First time we just had the fish platter for 2 and shared between 3 people. A luxurious platter with 2 perfectly pan-fried fish, 2 shrimps in shell and 2 grilled baby calamari on a bed of carrots, squash, zucchini and mushrooms magically turned up at the table. The seasoning is basic but perfect. A complementary basket of bread also came with the meal and house white wine paired very well with the seafood fair. It was so good we went back for lunch again the next day. This time we also ordered their truffle pasta. The white truffle on the pasta was epic - appetizer size was obly €18!! I dare say the same size with black truffle in NY would have put us back at around 30 bucks and nowhere as much truffle that was on the plate. Highly recommend this place if you ever go to Salzburg and wanted something other than the standard Austrian fare.

Istra seafood restaurant was a refuge from all the meat-oriented restaurants during my week trip in Austria. Started with a tuna carpaccio topped with light olive oil, sea salt and fresh ground pepper. Main dish was a fresh white fish grilled to perfection with a side of savory veggies to pair. Meal paired perfectly with Austrian table wine which was recommended by the waiter. Absolutely delicious, wonderful waiter and happy I took my hotels' recommendation to eat at Istra.

Pasta e Vino does it the right way and it shows. By having such a tight fresh pasta menu three items) they serve great pasta with very nice sauces. We went early, and on a Monday so seating was not an issue, the the tables that had reserved signs on them let us know this place fills up fast and it's not that big to begin with. It's a cool little space with a deli case right at the front so there is no hiding anything. Our two servers took great care of us, explained the menu and took our order. We both ordered the pasta carne with dirty pork and a red sauce. Tagliatelle was the pasta of the day, not sure if that changes or not. We also ordered house wine, red for me and white for the lovely K. The 1/8 litre 4 1/4 ounces for 3.5 euros wasn't expensive, but it also wasn't enough. You can order more (1/4 litre is 6 euros) which we would next time. The food came out hot and quickly and very nicely covered in Parmigiana Reggiano and was a good sized portion for 13.5 euros. Would we rave about it, probably not, but it was great!

Only wish it wasn't our last night in Salzburg because we would have been back again. They serve 3 specials to choose from for the night. Hubby and I both went with the pasta with sausage. Yummy . And the house red wine was delicious. Reasonable prices. Service was excellent. They also have a deli case and I would be trying that lasagna if I lived nearby.

Everything here is a-la-carte, even banchans you need to order separately because it's not served with your meal. We got the following: - Spicy pork - Spicy Squid - Kimchi Chigae - Lettuce with Ssam jeong - Kimchi (extra, comes with 2 other sides and Kimchi) Don't get the spicy squid, that's all that is - spicy and no flavor. Spicy squid can use a lot of help in the seasoning department. Spicy pork was better, but nothing to write home about as I had better spicy pork at other European cities. Kimchi Chigae was decent, had bit of odd taste to it, but it hit the stop. Our favorite was the ssam jeong lol... While I can't call this place "authentic" Korean joint, it was decent for, especially operating in Salzburg. I know, the food will not be the same as the motherland and I shouldn't have high expectations. While I would have given three stars, went with two stars as you are forced to order banchans, which is not the norm in Korean dining.

They started bringing out the cold waters ASA we ordered. They were so kind and thoughtful that they brought a fan right next to our table (I guess I looked like the Witch of the Waste from the movie Howl's Moving Castle ;P XD ) Thank you!!! Unfortunately I no longer remember what are foods we ordered but everything was very delicious!! I highly recommend this place. Thank you so much for your warm hospitality!!

Great place for Southern Italian cooking - especially if you like seafood…read more My wife and I were recently in Salzburg with a tour group and we needed some dinner and we were looking for Lasagna. I know, I know. In Salzburg, and we want Lasagna? Well, we found Taste. It which did serve Italian food, yes, in Salzburg, mostly with seafood... unfortunately, I don't really care for seafood. Chef Walter Sanguedolce himself came and greeted us, a nice touch. We could tell he was a master of his Sicilian cooking since the majority of his menu included seafood. Did I mention I don't care for seafood? Anyway, the Lasagna lovers in the group opted for the Spaghetti Bolognese and it was fairly good, but a tad under seasoned. My wife had Spaghetti Pompadour, but she thought there was a wee bit too much garlic for her liking; she does not like garlic as much as I do. Regardless, the staff were all gracious and accommodating, especially considering that none of our group spoke Italian. Plus it was a treat to meet Chef Walter San-guedolce himself. So, if you do like seafood and want an excellent meal prepared by a Chef specializing in Sicilian cooking, you owe it to yourself to check out Taste.It.
