When traveling, you crave home cooked food from time to time... and after searching for a Korean restaurant we opted for this one, as it seemed like it's more authentic. Everything here is a-la-carte, even banchans you need to order separately because it's not served with your meal. We got the following: - Spicy pork - Spicy Squid - Kimchi Chigae - Lettuce with Ssam jeong - Kimchi (extra, comes with 2 other sides and Kimchi) Don't get the spicy squid, that's all that is - spicy and no flavor. Spicy squid can use a lot of help in the seasoning department. Spicy pork was better, but nothing to write home about as I had better spicy pork at other European cities. Kimchi Chigae was decent, had bit of odd taste to it, but it hit the stop. Our favorite was the ssam jeong lol... While I can't call this place "authentic" Korean joint, it was decent for, especially operating in Salzburg. I know, the food will not be the same as the motherland and I shouldn't have high expectations. While I would have given three stars, went with two stars as you are forced to order banchans, which is not the norm in Korean dining. read more

We were in Salzburg for one day as tourists on a super hot day. We we're looking for some place with Asian food and luckily stumbled upon this place. We went in and looked like they were pretty busy as it looked like a huge tourist group was also having lunch there. We were ready to head out but then the front lady told us there are some sittings at the back where we can sit. We were SO happy to get a seat that quickly as we were very tired. They started bringing out the cold waters ASA we ordered. They were so kind and thoughtful that they brought a fan right next to our table (I guess I looked like the Witch of the Waste from the movie Howl's Moving Castle ;P XD ) Thank you!!! I took my parents, who were craving Korean food, to this restaurant, and at the time I tried my best to respond politely and positively. But no matter how I think about it, I still feel upset. I felt like I was being discriminated against by a fellow Korean. Even in Eastern Europe, I've never received such treatment from a Korean before. 1. When we first entered, we were told in English that there were no seats outside and were guided to the inside (despite at least three empty tables outside). We were led to a cramped corner table, and only once we were inside did they quietly tell us in Korean that the food might be delayed. 2. The seat we were given was in a stifling hot space with no air conditioning, and there were more than five dead bugs on the floor that looked like cockroaches. When we asked them to clean it, they just swept them up carelessly and left. There was still a large bug that wasn't removed, so we had to ask again. It was so dirty and hot that we requested a seat change, to which they replied irresponsibly, "Sit anywhere outside or in the room." At that moment, two male Korean staff members looked at each other, made playful arm gestures, and laughed together -- a very unpleasant attitude. The biggest question was why they sat us in the most unpleasant spot in the first place, if other seats were available. This was the first point when I started to feel something was off. 3. Even after 15 minutes, no one came to take our order. When I went to ask, I was just told to "wait." After another 5-10 minutes with no one coming, I went again. When I asked, "When will the food be ready?" they told me the food would take 40 minutes -- even though they hadn't even taken our order yet. That meant a total wait of around an hour. 4. However, a customer (European) who came in later than us was greeted with a big smile showing teeth, had their order taken immediately, and quickly received their beer. (When speaking to me, the staff gave short answers without even a hint of a smile.) 5. I had been looking forward to eating at a Korean restaurant, but I was so disappointed that we ended up leaving and going to McDonald's instead. I was looking for a restaurant close by for non-Austrian food and found Hibiskus. I wanted to get the KFC but they completely sold out already earlier in the day. Instead, I got the bulgogi, which came with rice, and of course a couple of banchan. I also got a sparkling wine with yuzu. I couldn't really taste the yuzu until I got to the end of my drink, but it made the drink pretty nonetheless. I didn't think the bulgogi was anything special but it's a nice break from the typical Austrian food. For dessert, I got the green tea tiramisu which was light and fluffy. The servers were very nice and friendly! I came back another day because I wanted to try the KFC. I got the mandu with meat to start, then I got the KFC, which came with fries. To be honest, I wasn't very impressed with either the mandu or the KFC. They have many other meat dishes and stews that could be worth trying though! read more

I ordered a Bi-Bim-Bap with Tofu and when it was brought to the table, the waiter explained how to correctly eat this meal. Also, two little portions of special salads were brought along for free. The Green Tea was served in a lovely and seemingly traditional tea pot along with a fitting cup. In matters of taste the Bi-Bim-Bap with Tofu which I ordered was breathtakingly delicious! The portion size was perfect, neither too much, nor too little. The tea had a very round taste and also accompanied the Bi-Bim-Bap perfectly. All in all one of the best meals I've ever ate! Regarding the price, in my opinion the Bi-Bim-Bap was in a fair price range with €14,80 and the Green Tea was quite cheap for only €2,70. About the ambiance, there are some lovely traditional kneeling seats for up to 4 people. Also, it has some less traditional seats too, which allow for bigger and / or smaller groups too. I kept the service outstandingly polite and well-mannered in my memory. The waiters never made me feet neither annoyed nor unnoticed. My conclusion is that the Hibiskus has a lovely ambiance, delicious food and outstanding service! A place I can and will always recommend. read more

We walked by this place last night and poked our heads in; the odor was so delicious that we knew we had to come back, which we did tonight. The host sat us immediately and graciously let us know up front that the kitchen was a little backed up, and that it would be 30-40 minutes for us to get our main course. Totally understandable, and I'm glad he told us right away so that we wouldn't be wondering whether it was just bad service. In fact, it took almost exactly 35 minutes, but our appetizers came out faster. I had the spinach salad with sesame oil dressing, which was simple but delicious. I think the dressing had apple cider vinegar mixed with the sesame oil, which I will definitely be trying to replicate at home. A perfect light starter. My wife had mandu and didn't offer to share them with me, which tells me that they were probably pretty great. For my main, I went with tried-and-true bulgogi, and this was definitely among the best I've ever had. A heavy garlic soy flavor, not a mild one, and thin slices of almost shredded, very tender beef. I really liked that their bulgogi includes slices of bell pepper and mushroom in addition to the usual slices of onion. It added some variety and depth to the flavors. My wife had their salmon, which she said tasted a lot like the miso-glazed salmon at our favorite sushi restaurant, but there was twice the amount for the same price. So that's a win. We also shared an order of the pork. . . I can't remember the name of the dish, but it was pork on rice in a hot stone bowl, and it was very good, but our least favorite of the three mains because other than some marinated grilled (I think?) pork and bean sprouts and rice, there wasn't much to this one. It also seemed to have the smallest serving size of actual meat, for whatever that's worth. . . not that we needed any more food. Also, tiny bonus: here they want you to walk up to the bar to pay your check. I don't know why this isn't the norm at more full-service restaurants; when you're done, leave at your own pace and no waiting for someone to bring you the check, then collect your card, then bring your card back to you. Second time visiting this place since my cravings for Korean food can only be satisfied here (literally the only Korean restaurant in town), super friendly staff and the place itself is quite spacious so you'll always get a seat. Selection of food is good, they offer fish, meat and vegetarian dishes and also kbbq which I find far too expensive for 28€ per person. The only downside there is, is the price, prepare to pay around 15 bucks for one main course. read more

Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were kindly greeted by a server and seated right away. We ordered our food and drinks and began to wait. Only a few minutes later we received our drinks and then continued to wait. After about an hour, almost an hour and a half, we finally received our dinner. Overall the customer service was excellent, the food was amazing, but we waiting a terribly long time. Completely unexpected, completely delighted! After a week of schnitzels, goulash, dumplings and potato salads, I was dying for some Asian food. We accidentally stumbled upon this place while walking from Mirabellplatz to the Old Town. We went in for dinner one night and it surpassed my expectations so much so that we went back for dinner the next night! We ordered two naeng myuns (broth with cold noodles) with meat, but unfortunately they ran out of the meat so we got it with vegetables instead. Although we were slightly disappointed, the noodles were still good. We also ordered the kimbap with avocado the first night. It surprised me that it was a kimbap but inside out. I am used to the rice and stuff inside, wrapped with the seaweed. But it was still good. We ordered the spicy pork and seafood soup stew the second night, all of which were very tasty. The shigumchi (spinach) appetizer was slightly disappointing because it came in a warm broth, when it is usually a cold dish. The only reason for the three stars rather than four is the service is unorganized and sloooooooow. read more

Amazingly good Korean food for a restaurant based, of all places, in Salzburg, Austria. About a 15-20 min walk from the train station. Wife had soft tofu stew and I had bulgogi. Both were excellent. They even had Korean beer, Hite. Not typical of traditional Korean restaurants was the lack of banchan (little dishes of various dishes including kim chee). I lived in Korea for two years and miss Korean food all the time. This was one of the only places open on Christmas Day, and through my urging we tried it. Although there were no side dishes (as there always is in Korea) the bibimbap and spicy seafood soup were excellent and authentic. Highly recommended. read more
