Horrible service. Ordered food more than 20 minutes ago. I watched as the kitchen staff went into the walk-in cooler, then grabbed a clipboard, wrote something, adjusted his hat, straightened his pants, then went back to the cook line without washing his hands and changing his gloves. Went to breakfast for the second time just to see if it would be better. Service was awful again and food was so so. Couldn't get a tea refill until I got up and asked for one. The waitress charged us $7.49 to add eggs to $6.99 pancake order. Don't bother going, it is not worth the frustration. Everyone is in slow motion. read more

This is an update since we had that bad experience in January. We stopped in for an early lunch a week ago and we were seated promptly. The server was quick to come over with menus and take beverage orders. My partner ordered his lunch and I decided on a single pancake. Everything came at once this time -- except the syrup for the pancake. I had to laugh as my partner says I don't seem to have any luck at this restaurant. I had to flag another server headed to the kitchen to request syrup. But still in time to enjoy the hot pancake! So all is well again with us and First Watch. read more

Absolutely delicious and healthy!! The place no longer had their Reuben so the manager offered for me to try something on him to open my mind to more of what they offer and it was the best sandwich ever!!! Been eating at this chain since they opened their first store in downtown sarasota many years ago. A new one opened less than a mile from my home and I decided to give it a try. I ordered French toast and their "million dollar bacon". The French toast was a disgrace, just bread with a thin coating of egg on the surface. I don't know what "million dollar bacon" means and neither did any staff person, including the shift manager. But mine was just crisp overly salty regular bacon. The new Ham and Cheese Omelet was the lazy man's way out. Throwing some luncheon deli ham under the egg and then dropping a piece of cheese on top was terrible. Potatoes were burnt and then undercooked. English muffin was all white so probably just warmed. Only had one percent milk for coffee, no whole milk. The breakfast power bowl was served lukewarm. I'm surprised by the other poor reviews. I have been going to this First Watch, for five years. I've never had an issue there. I've never had an issue at any First Watch for that matter. Maybe it was just a rough day for those other reviewers, but we've always had great food and service. We LOVE First Watch. read more

This specific location of First Watch is the BEST I have been to. The service is always prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. I ask for Galina every time I go there! The best part (other than the fresh and delicious food...) is that they are always willing to modify ANYTHING on the menu for you in any way they can. Plus, right now they have pumpkin pancakes for fall that are amazing. It is a chain and while the food is good not great little things bug me like having to ask for real butter otherwise they put out some nasty oil whip or margarine which ruins good toast. The food is decent and we enjoyed all that we ordered on both occasions for breakfast but no wow factor or the feel of country grandmother in the kitchen cooking up a mess of terrific sunday breakfast dishes. First Watch is a great restaurant, particularly for breakfast. With locations both downtown on Main Street, as well as at the intersection of Cattleman Rd and Bee Ridge, it is conveniently accessible for most of Sarasota. They have numerous breakfast specials as well as their lengthy regular menu. Having eaten there over a number of years, I can say I've never had a bad experience with either the service or food. Be prepared to wait a while on the weekends, and try to get there early. First Watch almost always has a 15-20 minute wait at minimum, but it is worth waiting for. They particularly do a fantastic Eggs Benedict & variations thereof. I recently had the most delicious apple chicken sausage there with poached eggs. Their waffles & pancakes are great as well. However, if you are looking for a healthy breakfast, this is also your place. Numerous healthy items are marked, and many of their breakfasts come with a side salad instead of potatoes or carbs. The First Watch in LWR is in my neighborhood, this was my first time at the Cattlemen location. I was surprised how big it was when I walked in. Lots more booths and a very nice vibe. Although a very busy Sunday morning, I got seated right away and waitress came by immediately to see if I wanted coffee. For as many times as I've been to First Watch I normally get the pancake, blueberry - for an extra couple of bucks they will give you a small bottle of real maple syrup. One pancake is huge and worth the $3.99 - the coffee keeps coming out hot and fresh. This past Saturday I was at the LWR location and got a pumpkin pancake - same thing. I'm always looking what other guests are being served and it looks good. This is a place that I am also comfortable going to eat alone on a Sunday AM. I used to love coming here for their fresh, bright, and healthy food. Their atmosphere matched this and I always left there feeling brighter. They have now replaced their menu with a brown paper menu (which can't be wiped down between customers which grossed me out). The choices are not clearly defined -- in fact the presentation of it didn't even make me want to read it so I ordered an omelette that I have come to love from first watch-- their swisshroom omelette. They have changed the quality of their mushrooms which is disappointing. They don't even carry Swiss cheese anymore!! I was told by our waitress who brought our check out with our order (which makes me feel rushed and kicked out) told me they were changing things to appeal to a broader audience.
