This is a tale of two vastly different meals at the same setting: I had a Morning Meditation juice drink that was very refreshing, excellent abundant avocado toast, with scrambled eggs that truthfully were not really soft-scrambled as I had ordered. My wife had the traditional breakfast with eggs, bacon, grits, and toast. We emphasized that she required the Udi's gluten free bread; when her plate came she remarked that it was the best gluten free bread she had ever seen, shortly thereafter remarked it was the best gluten free bread she had ever tasted, then several hours later had severe cramps and bloating, and is now in her 4th day of discomfort as a result of what clearly was the same bread as my avocado toast. read more

The food was fantastic. The service and atmosphere in the time of COVID was astonishingly out of touch with reality. First we arrived just after they opened on Saturday. Very few people in the dining room, yet it seemed we were clustered together in the dining room. Then window cleaning folks come in, and we're cleaning over cups and coffee mugs set out on tables for future guests. That was gross. After we got our food, the waitress hovered and asked on multiple occasions if things were ok. Then, while my husband had his fork in his hand and hand over his plate (with plenty of food left), the waitress wanted to take his plate away. Then I asked for more tea, I was offered a to go cup. It was clear despite a virtually empty dining room, they wanted us to leave. Then they sat a man right next to us, which made zero sense...the dining room had 15+ tables empty. Why would they sit someone next to us in a pandemic? We got up to pay and when asked about our experience, were very candid about what happened. The cashier offered no recourse or much of an apology, other than, "I hope when you come back here you have a better experience." Not likely. We have been to the First Watch in Knoxville on several occasions and this experience was unusual considering what we know about First Watch. We got there and were told 2 more times over the 1 hour and 45 minute wait that it would be 20 minutes. We watched as empty tables sat with dirty dishes for over 10 minutes before being cleared. Finally seated and we ordered right away. Took well over 30 minutes to bring the food and it was not hot, barely warm. Again, may be good on a regular day but they are not equipped for a rush. This place is really great. It's a nice cozy breakfast spot that's fun to eat at before going to class. I love going here to meet with a friend to catch up and have some coffee. I had brunch with my daughter at The First Watch in Oxford, MS and I have fallen in love. Their food is delicious and I received great customer service. On this visit I ordered the Trifecta which included a waffle or pancake I chose waffle, bacon and scrambled eggs and a side of potatoes and bacon. The food was delicious and served hot. I have a very love/hate relationship with the restaurant. The menu has a wide selection. The omelette and breakfast tacos are great. So is the million dollar bacon. There are a few options I don't like but it's one place I can always get a group of people to agree on because of the food options. The eggs Benedict are ok but could be better. However, the breakfast sandwich was served cold. Cold eggs aren't for me but maybe someone out there enjoys themDon't even try to eat there on game days though because you will not get a seat. The one real problem is the service I've had the server mess up the order a few times, usually forget to bring more water, and if it's full it may take awhile to get anything ordered. Updated 3/23/19: I gave first watch another try this morning and the experience was the complete opposite of my first review. The food was EXCELLENT (i got the Parma skillet hash both times because it is so good). The service this time was so much nicer, as right when we sat down, our server was ready to assist us. I will definitely be back after this great trip! The only downside of this restaurant is how you pay at the front and it's SO crowded with people waiting that it takes an extra 5-10 minutes to pay. I've been to first watch many times, and today was my last time in Oxford Service was garbage, as it usually is, but this time was the WORST service I've ever had. I had to ask another server for drinks after 20 minutes and then it took 40+ minutes for food after we got drinks. We were there on a Saturday morning and it took the waiter a while to get to us. Then after we ordered there was another long wait. When questioned, he apologized and said he "forgot us." I was picking up an order for Bitesquad and I called to let her know that I was outside whenever she was ready with the order and she responds "Every time you guys call I have to stop what I am doing." She said it in such a nasty tone and then decided to hang up on me. Then when she brought out the food to me I explained that I was disappointed with the way she treated me and then she said "well then don't come back." We arrived at 10 and were given an hour and 20 minute wait. We had 40 minutes added to our wait without notice and we were told they were just waiting on a table to be cleared. There were multiple empty tables waiting to be cleared and at least 3 workers seen walking around aimlessly. When we were seated there were dirty glasses with lipstick stains left on the table. When we told server she said they were fine, we showed her stains and she replied, "I guess the bus boys don't care". She brought new water glasses and coffee cups that were dripping wet and STILL had lip stains. We had to use limited napkins to dry, and wipe the glasses. We went 30 minutes without check up and needed more water/coffee, over 40 minutes for food. We left the restaurant at 1:30. I went on a Wednesday at 9am and was sat right away so it's mostly just on weekends. I had the pumpkin pancake breakfast, best pumpkin pancake I've ever had.
