Avocado Toast - Delicious

The people in Oxford, MS are truly some of the best people. So, it wasn't surprising that the customer service was perfect during our breakfast visit. Food was fantastic and served hot, quick, and made to order! Ambiance is casual! Definitely recommend!

Strawberry Tres Leches French Toast

This was my second time at First Watch. Both times have been wonderful. The servers are warm and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is inviting but a bit loud. The food is amazing! I enjoyed the winter special strawberry tres leches French toast with a side of bacon. Others in my party had the Works omelette and biscuit n gravy. The coffee was good but a bit strong (and I like strong coffee usually). I love the donut holes and the million dollar bacon apps. Will definitely be back. I didn't realize how many locations there are around the country. Mucho! I even got the app for my phone.

Seasoned Potatoes

Such a cute place! The staff were nice and attentive, as well. My Bacado Omelette was alright. The egg portion of the omelette was very good, but it could've used a salsa instead of pico de gallo. I subbed the Greens for the Seasoned Potatoes, and I didn't care for them. A lot of them had more burned pieces and had a bitter aftertaste. Picking through, the potatoes that's weren't burned were pretty good. My husband got the BLT Egg's Benedict. He enjoyed it but thought the hollandaise could have been more flavorful. He also ate my wheat bread with the preserves and liked that, too. The Tres Leches French Toast was good! No complaints there. Overall, it was pretty good. I would definitely try some more stuff if we go back.

Waitlist system can not be trusted

Their waitlist system is horrible and can not be trusted. Why get on the wait list at 8:15, be given an 60 minute wait time, check in at 9am and wait another 55 minutes and final get a table at 10am. What a joy this place is. This happens every time I go there. After waiting long enough I asked where I was in line and was told I was the next table of 5. I saw 3 more tables of 5 sit down. I asked again and was told I was third in line. This place is not worth this hassle and incompetence. Their waitlist system is broken or their management team is incompetent.

First Watch is a great place for Breakfast! Casual, clean and friendly service! The food is consistently good! My favorite is still the Million Dollar Bacon! If you like bacon, it's to die for! The French toast is pretty special too! But I've never had anything there that I didn't like!

What's not to love. First watch is always a hit. The food was great and the fresh juice is always on point. Came here with my friends it wasn't too busy which is nice this place fills up quickly. Definitely a family oriented spot and can get pretty loud.

My first time eating at First Watch. Excellent dish. Complements of Chef Andrew. You can definitely taste the freshness of the dish.

It has been 40 minutes and I still do not have my food. Difficult place to come for lunch. I was told it will be about ten more minutes.

The table had ordered a fried pickles but it was a bit too salty for me. The catfish was great, seemed pretty fresh and it didn't have any metallic taste. The sweet potato casserole was just the right amount of sweet and savory. I was going between the catfish and sweet potato to balance out the flavors. The fried okra was a bit bland and definitely needed the sauce. The service was great - attentive and gave great advice on food options. The interior fits the diner appearance and everything looked pretty clean and tidy. Other people in the party enjoyed their poboys and hash brown casseroles.

Heard we had to try Ajax, the diner, not the soap. We stopped in for lunch before heading to Nashville airport to come home. The diner is about what you'd expect inside. Old, kitschy and full of decor. We sat in a booth an were greeted by a waitress promptly for drink orders. Cokes and waters. They deliver the coke in a neat Ajax cup. I ordered the chicken fried steak. Wife ordered the chicken and dumplings and step son ordered catfish. Everything arrived very quickly and everything was hot and southern deliciousness, except the corn bread. The corn bread was dry and not very good at all. Pretty sure it was yesterday's leftover bread or someone needs to pull it 5 minutes sooner from the oven. Unanimous at the table, Everton e had garb corn bread. No big deal. The chicken fried steak was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Gravy was great and the red beans and rice side was awesome. All great flavors. Wife loved the chicken and dumplings, good flavor and tender chicken. She got a side of sweet potato casserole and loved it. I had a bite and it was delicious for certain. Step son had the fried catfish, he is not a big seafood eater but he absolutely loves the catfish. I had a big piece and it was cooked perfectly and tasted great as well. The staff was outstanding, the service was great and the food was excellent sans the cornbread. Ajax is a neat little diner in the heart of Oxford. It's a little pricey as is everything in this college town, but it was worth the visit.

She ordered the tuna special with coconut risotto; I went for the manicotti. The tuna was passable but forgettable. elevator music in fish form. The risotto? Mushy, coconut-scented regret. Sorry mom? My manicotti was so bland it could've been served at a tax seminar. For prices that suggest a culinary revelation, we got dishes that wouldn't impress a truck stop diner. The service matched the food's enthusiasm--our server was polite but they weren't giving the Olive Garden a run for their money, let's be real.. The bill hit like a personal insult, far too steep for such a lackluster show. Word is the ramen might be better, but after this, I'm not betting on it. Oxford's food scene isn't barren, far from it. The town boasts gems that deliver honest, delicious fare without the ego. But spots like SoLa, with their trendy pomp and inflated tabs, are a bitter letdown for anyone who's ventured beyond state lines and tasted what distant lands can offer. The Moms and I left wishing we'd picked a place that respects both palate and purse.
