My daughter and I walked in about 1:45pm, which is 45 minutes prior to the closing of the business which is open until 2:30pm. When we got to the podium, the hostess asked us if we had a reservation. Reservation on a Monday afternoon??? The place had many open tables, but she proceeded to enter our information onto her tablet to "create one." Well first of all it's a Monday afternoon when restaurants are generally slow... And secondly there was about eight or nine tables that were visually empty, plus about another 7 spots at the bar counter that were wide open. The hostess told us there was a 5 to 10 minute wait, which I found shocking based on the open seating I could see and nobody else waiting. About 10 minutes later a man walked in and was told the same thing... He asked if he could sit at the bar to which she said that was fine. When I got up to ask if we could sit at the bar again... She miraculously said, "oh wait let me see if I have an open table for you guys." When she sat us down there were four tables that were wide open in the area she sat us down. There were no covid restrictions, which have been over for a couple weeks, plus many tables had occupants side by side. Once at the table, we had to ask for water twice, to which it never came. Water should be the first thing served upon sitting down. Our food finally came, then she brought us water because we had mentioned to the young lady who brought our food. I can understand being forgetful as a waitress at times, due to being overwhelmed with tables, but the restaurant was not busy at all. As always the food was delicious, But she brought me toast when I specifically said no toast, just greens, to which she had acknowledged when I placed the order. I like First Watch, the food is great, but the service was very sub par. This was the worst experience I've had. (FYI.. I have been to First Watch locations in Florida and Wisconsin several times and have even been to the one in Oak Brook Illinois, and this by far there's nothing like those places). Apparently Joe, the cocky mgr, thinks it's within industry standards to wait almost 40 minutes to receive your breakfast order. That's why "everyone" was complaining according to the waiter. Food is decent. Can't go wrong to come here for brunch. Service is a hit or miss though. My husband and I came in, and you can tell the hostess (short, Hispanic lady, maybe early 20s) was very inexperience which cause alot of the back up because tables were empty but she wasn't seating them until people were asking the status of the wait. She kept telling new comers the wait was 15-20 mins when it definitely was not that short of a wait. It was definitely longer. So expect to wait a little bit. But the wait is worth it. I think. The potatoes had good flavor but were extremely undercooked. Portion size was very small for the price you pay. Other people from my work who ordered were wishing we went somewhere else. Placed a carry out order after they opened the location. I could see that a manager was actually preparing the bag and verifying things so I left without checking the order. One meal was missing a side, the extra order of bacon was missing, and a packet of syrup had ruptured making a mess in the bag. They followed up the online order with a text-based survey. This place is amazing. I attended brunch on Sunday with friends and family and it was very busy with the amount of guests trying to get in for breakfast. The check in seemed confusing until the hostess Tori noticed we were a bit upset and went above and beyond by explaining the process and made sure we were communicated with our time left and made the wait much worth it. She sat us at the desired table and checked on us during eating. Never been to a restaurant where the staff goes that beyond for caring about their guests. Our server Amber was very polite and mentioned the watermelon wake up, my whole table ordered it and it was SOO delicious (Try it!!). I found the food to be kind of foo-foo. Corned beef hash skillet was a disappointment. Nothing more than some stringy bits of corned beef mixed in with the rest of the skillet. Don't mess with my corned beef hash! And the eggs were way underdone. They also messed up one of our party member's skillet with the wrong eggs. Just had the opportunity to try First Watch. What a joyful experience. The decor is out of a style you might see from Joanna Gaines Fixer Upper show. Chic country. The employees are so friendly and welcoming. We tried 3 different entrees and they were all winners. Super coffee. My kids loved the hot chocolate and even more because you get refills! We have been here three times since they've opened and I've been mostly happy with everything. One visit took us an hour to get our food. The other visits were much better. Went here recently and while the ambiance is ok, the food was not good and served cold. The scrambled eggs were curiously marbled and covered up with parsley. The toast was prebuttered but the preserves were some kind of congealed red stuff. The potatoes were very undercooked and over seasoned. The sausage links were ok. The coffee, on the other hand was awful. I was poured half a cup, asked for water, and tried to cut the bitter flavor with two of the teensy cream packets. I also did not like the flies floating around because of the open windows. If I wanted to eat outdoors, I would have. Will not return. read more
