Had not stopped for a while and decided for a quick lunch - what a perfect choice! We love their service & most of all their fresh choices! We're thinking we must stop more often! I came in for breakfast on a Saturday and it was almost empty. I was sat and waited at my table for 15 minutes and no one came to wait on me. I stopped in the restroom and it was absolutely filthy. So, I left. If they can't pay attention to their customers or the cleanliness of their restrooms, I don't want to be subjected to whatever food they're going to serve, even if I didn't get to that point. There are a million breakfast places in this area and if management doesn't get it together, this place isn't gonna last, which is fine because it's pretty terrible. I'm very disappointed. read more

More than your typical diner! Overall a very pleasant experience and I will definitely return. Eggs Benedict was delightful with a lemon forward hollandaise that relies on the acid to keep it balanced where many hollandaise become overly rich with butter. Eggs were poached perfectly and the toasted ciabatta held up well throughout eating. Opted for the potatoes which were seasoned well, but could've used a few more minutes boiling prior to being finished. The bigger diced potatoes were a little under cooked. No reason for the ketchup on the plate. The biscuits and gravy were solid as well! Gravy had a nice little heat and good texture. Very faint flour taste probably from the rue and the biscuits themselves were light and airy, but more of a cake consistency than the layers I would typically look for in B&G. They blow most diners in the area out of the water and I'll give it 4/5 stars. I'm not an all or nothing rater so this ranks up there with best breakfasts in Lake County. With a few tweaks it can be a perfect breakfast! Definitely going to return to try some of the seasonal and specialty items on their menu. Cheers! read more

The fresh makeover of this restaurant from a Chili's is in keeping with the open, white-washed trend of farmhouse chic. Large windows all around, concrete floor, and cute barn-like details and Edison bulbs makes this breakfast place feel nice in the morning. The branding is on point from the coffee-line to the naming of standards like "Million Dollar Bacon." They work hard to create a fresh, hearty, handmade impression but the overall show fell short for us. First, we checked in online 30 minutes before arriving which had listed a 20-30 minute wait time. Instructions told us to check in with the host upon arrival and at 9am on a Sunday, there was already a line outside. The host found us in the system and told us it would be about 30 minutes and that 7 names were ahead of us. (?!) We privately questioned what the purpose of the online waitlist system if we still had to wait. Ten seconds later, he called us to our table. (!!) Surprise. Win. Seated by the window, we ordered coffee and a juice drink called a Watermelon Wakeup, which we highly recommend (watermelon, pinapple, mint, lime). Coffee was strong (yum) and comes to the table in an insulated carafe for you to refill your cup as needed. Or waitress was prompt and friendly and there were plenty of staff of the young, attractive sort. We both ordered omelettes and an added order of the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (of course) which all looked splendid and photo-worthy when it arrived. However, here's where things broke down a bit. At nearly $12, the small omelettes were like rubber pancakes folded like a taco around small spoonfuls of prepared ingredients - like from a factory line (for an airplane). The eggs were prepared separately from the rest, as the morsels were not baked in. This may be time efficient, but not pleasing to the palate. These smallish egg-tacos were served on a rustic tile plate about 12" square. Two half pieces of thick, chunky, grainy bread had hearty spreads of butter on them and looked very photogenic, but they were oddly not toasted. (!) Instead, they seemed steamed, soft, and warmish. We weren't sure if the intention was to dress the plate as a beautiful prop, or to be eaten and enjoyed. The butter never melted so they continued to look good, but were disappointing to eat. Seriously, we could have picked up the egg-taco with our hands if it weren't for the little extra dollops of ingredients dressing the top. But the bread and omelette only took up about 50% of the plate. The rest of the plate was filled with... a mixed greens salad with a vinaigrette dressing. (??!) Again, good looking, but as prominent as it was, it should be listed on the menu as a salad with small breakfast items. We both remarked about how much salad was on the breakfast plate. Overwhelming. Repeat: breakfast. The Lemon Ricotta Pancakes were topped with ample spooges of sweet lemon curd and syrupy strawberries but the cakes alone didn't have much flavor, but came with a bottle of warm syrup to complete the show. They were quite fluffy and fallapart, which made them frustratingly difficult to spear with a fork. Eating them became a scoop, sway and pray sort of adventure. We commented that the omelette egg-tacos could have used more fluffiness and the pancakes more density. We had to ask for butter. (really?!) Wha wha. I know, we should have taken pictures but the food-eating experience dampened our celebratory nature. So while we were still picking dainty greens from out teeth, we certainly enjoyed the Watermelon Wakeup ($4.50) which was the best part of our $50 breakfast (for 2). Luckily our plucky server didn't ask us how our meal was (and didn't rush us either). We asked if we could get a cup to go for some of the remaining coffee and she obliged willingly, but we had to ask. When we left at 9:45, there was a growing line outside while inside there were 6+ tables empty and ready for 4 or more. (?!) The circuses of this place are fresh and modern in a lively spirited way - the way a modern brunch should be. And while the prices are decent ($2.99 for the coffee, $10-14 for most plates) the quality of the preparation seems somewhat chain-like, where everything is measured, made en-masse and is mostly for show. If you want a satisfyingly good breakfast, stick with the place that's a proven winner in your book. This place may not be it. I guarantee, you can make a better omelette yourself. But seriously, get the Watermelon Wakeup - to go! ;-) read more

This has been our go to breakfast spot on the weekends now! The food is always spot on. I love the BLT Benedict and my partner likes the Elevated Egg Sandwich...but everything else we've had on the menu has been great, too. Service is always fantastic as well! Maricela and Ashley are usually who we have and they are just wonderful. Attentive, personable, and very knowledgeable about the menu and offerings. What a beautiful makeover! The ambience is very farmhouse chic with a rustic edge. As open and inviting as the environment was, I was confused as to why there was no host to greet my party (nor any of the other parties), perhaps because it was a week day? So we waited a minute or two until a server sat us. The server was kind and attentive. It was a bit odd to ask for water, but we opted out of the coffee, even though I was happy there was a good give back to the community stance with their coffee product. I highly encourage servers to add that in, it was a nice positive piece to the experience. The food was good! Portions are on the more expensive and smaller side compared to some of the other restaurants where it's easily two giant helpings, but it was good! Avocado was a bit brown, but the farmhouse dish was fresh and flavorful. The toast was very good as well. Husband ate his entire plate as well (the elotes skillet). The bathroom could use improvement. The floors were rather dirty with women's hair and the toilets were stained inside. The toilet paper rolls were empty/not on the actual roll holder, which was off putting and a little gross, but overall, I'll be back! I hope they make it! read more

We were at First Watch for a late breakfast. I had 1/2 veggie sandwich and 1/2 salad (honey pecan one) and every bite of my order was out of this world delicious. The salad had warm chicken and the blend of flavors was so satisfying. My friend ordered Frittata rustica and it was very good but the kale salad was a bit bland. Wow, fist visit to the old Chili's location in Deer Park!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Bright cheerful redesign. Very open and airy. Impressive decor and colors. Everything is well planned and thought out, from the menus to the 2 coffee cups on every table. Excellent service, creative menu, excellent and somewhat unique meals. Breakfast and brunch only! The old bar area of Chili's now has been fitted with folding windows that let the air in on a beautiful June day. A great experience! Will be our new breakfast favorite! read more

I brought a 10 year old and an 8 year old today. Their patience was amazing, I myself was very frustrated with our wait and service. We waited way over our estimated time to be seated, then once we asked if we may have been missed by mistake we were asked to wait while they cleaned a table for us. It was another 15 minute wait to "clean the table". Once we were seated, we ordered right away. It took over an hour to get our appetizer and then another half hour to get our meals. The service was okay, not anything special or anything bad. The "Ambiance" was ok. The music they played wasn't great but I was gonna let the food decide my memory of the restaurant. My mother ordered An omelette, my dad a banana pancake, and I got the French toast. My moms omelette did not look like an omelette. It was more of a egg taco with the ingredients she ordered stuffed in. My dads pancake was horrible, it was so dry, and took a lot and a lot of syrup for it to take in just a little moisture but that at that point it wasn't worth eating due to it being drenched in syrup. My French toast was not that bad. But that's all it was. Not bad. I didn't really like it because there was no flavor. I had to dip it in syrup and then the Berry sauce they serve with it. Well, I know why the food prices are so high now. They have to pay for the Bose speakers in their establishment. I feel slightly deaf and can't hear myself think! I addressed the manager who said nothing could be done. My dining group and I considered relocating to Brunch Cafe just down the road (better options) instead of jamming out to rock and roll! The kind that doesn't soothe the soul! The ambience is like that farmer sheik look that Chip and Joanna Gaines would be so proud of. And when I have to sell my my kidneys just to pay for half of the meal, we got a problem. The waitress was so rude. She acted like she owned the place, but couldn't be bothered to bring us refills on our drinks! Went in for brunch on 01/29 - WOW!! I've been to First Watch before in both CO and KY, but my experience at this location was by far the best to date. Dishes arrived in a timely fashion & tasted great as usual, despite the fact that on a Sunday afternoon it inevitably got busy; the enormous dining room with an open concept made the space very inviting & warm. I'm a server myself so I pick up on every last detail....Haley was spectacular!! Very fun, attentive service with conversations intended to be listened to and engaged in accordingly. I wish there was a location closer to me in the Morton Grove area, but I will definitely be back! Great job, Kildeer!! read more

I've been here twice and both times I ordered the Pesto Chicken Quinoa Power Bowl. Amazing. I'm thinking about getting a job at First Watch just so I can learn how to make it myself at home. The staff is friendly and we've never had to wait longer than 5 minutes. I had to hold off on the fifth star because the place needs BLINDS on the south-facing windows. Because I was blinded. By the light. It comes in right at your corneas like a laser beam and there's nothing you can do but ask to be moved or hold a menu up to the window to block it or move the table...it's an issue. Server said we are not the first to ask about the 'why no blinds.' Just put them on the south windows, FW. Don't need them on all. It won't keep us from going back because the food so far is delicious and fresh. If you go, make sure to ask for a table in the shade. read more

Coffee was a good kick and the food was great. They did forget my eggs, but the waitress quickly brought out when I let her know. It's great for a change of pace, and offerings are different and unique. A bit of quinoa and kale it seems, which isn't my thing for breakfast.
