First Watch is good. But it's not great. Many diners don't know the difference. Many don't care and that's the right and choice of the diner. When the establishment doesn't care to be great, and settles for good, I wander off to other places in search of excellence. It's the fundamentals that make the distinction. Here are three. Don't ever make a guest ask to have a refill on drinks. Diners tip for service and that service doesn't just mean you take an order and deliver it. You provide continual service throughout the meal. This means keeping coffee cups filled. Not one time during my recent visit did the server return and not once did he leave a pot on the table. Second, don't EVER deliver a meal until ALL orders for diners at a table are ready. Then bring them all at the same time. Yesterday, 3 out of 4 were served and they ate uncomfortably while the fourth sat without food--simple eggs over medium and sausage--because they forgot. Finally, don't ever serve food that has cooled because no one had time to deliver it. Fortunately this was not a sin of First Watch during yesterday's visit. But the first two were. And have been before. Shall I return and forgive? Perhaps. But not before wandering elsewhere for awhile. Maybe great breakfast places are hiding in the shadows. Went for late breakfast on Sunday. It was packed. Waited close to an hour to be seated. Then waited to be approached by wait staff. Had your basic scrambled eggs (well, it was more like one very small egg), bacon, grits, and toast. Egg and grits were so cold the butter they had put on it wouldn't even melt. My three companions had the same experience with their food. By that time we were starving and ate our food anyway. On the bright side, the toast was very good. I have been to First Watch twice and both times I thoroughly enjoyed it. My favorite thing about it was the juice, I had the honeydew cooler and oh my goodness it was so refreshing. The second time I visited I had a server named Marcus who was very personable and made our whole experience better. I really can't recommend First Watch enough, it was great! read more

Went there this morning 20/3. There were only two waitresses and at first they were not busy. It picked up really fast. The waitress we had was great. She was hustling and did a great job when she brought us our check she looked as if she was getting ready to lose it. Hope our words of encouragement helped. Great food. Had a bit of a long wait to get in as it was super popular. Good portions that I could not finish and pleasant staff. The Yelp app allows you to get your place in line reserved which is totally cool. I had the full loaded Omelette which came with potatoes and wheat bread both which were excellent. Stopped in for Sunday brunch and luckily there was hardly a wait. I had the Traditional breakfast. Ordered eggs over easy and they were over cooked, hardly runny at all. Toast was the best part as I love thick, seedy, buttery toast. Turkey sausage was ehhhhhh, I'd prefer turkey bacon but it's not offered. Potatoes were basically just plain potato cubes that weren't cooked long enough. I prefer a little crunch on my hash browns. My husband had the biscuits and turkey sausage gravy with eggs. His eggs were over cooked as well. Biscuits were very good but gravy was weak. Not thick and creamy like good gravy is in the south. I get it that they are trying to be healthy, but it's still like 1,000 calories+ so you might as well eat the real deal if you are eating this! read more

Food was great, very delicious. The frittatas were very good, we took two different ones and both were well made, great ingredients and flavors. Why is it 3 stars review, you ask? Those dishes come with bread, ciabatta toast. Both came late and were tiny. My wife didn't like hers and asked for different type, she got multi grain toast in a minute. We were charged $2 for it, no one said we will, and why would you?! It's a piece of bread that comes with the dish. It's not extra fish or meat that is costly, just bread, which was asked cause she didn't like the one we got. Yes, I ate hers cause those are so small and it was left on the table but still. We were also charged $2 for avocado side, maybe 1/8 of an avocado that came in those small sauce cups. At the check-out when I was trying to mention that the bread charge is not a fair charge, some waitress that passed by said that it was on top of the other bread, that's why, and left. Me and wife looked at each other shocked. It's not about the money, it's the principle. Might give then another chance in the future, hopefully we will have better experience. Cheers read more

We sure love First Watch. Everyone is so friendly, and they know customers by name. Ms. Nellie, is the sweet. She always makes sure my son has everything he needs. A couple days ago, my son was in a bad mood {Just got a shot} and she cut up his food for him, so i was able to eat lunch. Which she did not need to do. She always puts her customers needs first! This place is always packed. Nice meals, nothing out of this world, portions could be a little be more generous.

The food was delicious. I ordered the trifecta which was eggs of your choice, meet of your choice and a pancake. The bacon was really yummy and they offered hot sauce to go with the eggs. The pancake was huge! We ordered a side of their little donut bites which were decent and worth trying once! They have a great selection of menu items. This is the only location I have ever been to. The food is good, a little overpriced but that's common in a suburbia town like franklin. I've never had bad service, but I've also never had great service. This place is okay if you're staying at one of the nearby hotels and want something more than a continental breakfast but it's nothing to write home about. read more

Very hit or miss place depending on the day. When I go during the week and the restaurant is not overcrowded the service and food are always prepared perfectly and with great detail. However this weekend we went on Sunday morning The service and food seemed rushed. Our server had a lot of tables and my order was not prepared correctly. This is a lovely place for breakfast or brunch. Food is creative and fresh, with some great twists on traditional favs. The Chickachanga is the best thing on the menu and I will fight whoever says otherwise! Aweful service. We've been there many times. Checked in and they apparently lost our name. Instead of apologising and trying to fix the situation they apparently put us at the end of the line and went back to business as usual. Love, love, love this restaurant! Find myself becoming a weekend regular here because the staff and food are THAT good. Yeah the wait for seats can be brutal but is SO worth it. Food is consistently delish...even our vegetarian and meat eater friends have been impressed. The employees here work so hard and are very sweet. Am laughing as I type this...I should probably invest in this place since am contributing to its weekly profits. Prices are "Franklin expensive" but quality is stellar and meals are solid value here. My wife an I live off of McEwen and were excited to see yet another restaurant added to the area. First Watch is an excellent breakfast option and we will put it into our normal rotation with Wholy Crepe. We had tried to visit a couple of times, but it has been packed since opening. I'm glad to see them doing well, but it took us 3 or 4 tries before we got a reasonable wait time. We're not the types to wait 45 minutes on a meal. This time around, we went around 9:30 on a Saturday and had a 20 minute wait. One area that could be improved is their waiting/paying area. It is super-congested. They may want to start having servers handling the checkout procedures to limit traffic. The food was really good. I had the Bacado omelet which has bacon and avacado and was topped with sour cream. They also put an excellent salsa on the side. It was great and the coffee was also very good. The potatoes were fair, but not cooked real well. However, the overall meal and service were solid. They have a diverse menu with many healthy options and we will be back--when it appears there is room. First Watch is an excellent breakfast/brunch option. However, at the moment it is so popular that you may want to consider eating at non-peak hours. Go early if you want to avoid the wait. I'd been to the Brentwood First Watch a number of times. While the food at the Brentwood location was always great, I always had issues with the service - disinterested, slow, mistakes, being virtually all but forgotten about, and worst of all - the wait. I recently tried out one in Franklin, and am happy to say the Franklin location didn't show any of those signs. Everything was prompt, the staff was far more engaging and enthusiastic, and the overall experience was far better than it has been at the Brentwood location. I also look forward to taking full advantage of their patio when the weather warms up... The food is great - from the pancakes, to the sandwiches. After two attempts, I'm giving up on this place. Coffee is fine and I like that they being you a thermos, but the individual plastic creamer chips make the environmentalist in me cringe. Baked goods seem to be the choice here. Muffins and bread are very good. Unfortunately, anything from the chefs just isn't worth it. They don't seem too be able to make eggs over easy. If you get a skillet, the potatos are not browned at all and more boiled. Seasoning seriously lacking. The mushrooms are the one bright point, they do those well. Since this is the First Watch farthest from our house we think of it as "Second Watch", but it's just as great as the one in Brentwood. My very favorite thing about First Watch is that they use NoWait. In this modern age of technology its nice that you can finally queue up before you arrive. This is incredibly important when it comes to breakfast time. Nobody wants to wait in a long line for the first meal of the day, and First Watch solves that problem very well with this app. Foodwise, First Watch always delivers. It may not be Pancake Pantry, but Pancake Pantry doesn't use NoWait does it? No, it doesn't. So come here for a great breakfast and skip the line with NoWait. read more

So I see my son already put in a review of our visit today. While I agree with everything he said I'd like to add this small piece. While we were at the front trying to pay and get the heck out of there we had our waitress arguing with us. She kept repeating it's not my fault as if this made everything ok. I replied if you had communicated with us it would've helped. I also said while she was arguing in front of a crowd of people excuse me but I'm the customer. I also didn't appreciate her putting up her finger to me with an angry look like I was a child being told to be quiet. On the whole it was a humiliating experience and something I haven't been through before and hopefully won't be again. While the food is good it's not that good to warrant that kind of treatment. It is sad that the quality of the food has deteriorated so much. Maybe it is yet another negative effect of the pandemic. On two consecutive occassions they failed to cook a poached egg properly for eggs Benedict and the gluten free bread was just taken out of the freezer, defrosted, warmed up and thrown on the plate under the eggs. They comped the breakfast so that was a positive. We hope they can get things together since we like this place.
