WARNING: DO NOT hire First Response Roofing and Construction.   We hired them in 2021 to do extensive work on our home, including installing new windows and replacing vinyl siding. Today, my house is in worse shape than before they started their work and I am out over $25,000.   My review is very limited due to the word count limitations by the site.  Here are the key takeaways from our experience with First Response Roofing :  1.  They fraudulently represented that they were licensed to perform the contracted for work on my home when they were not;  2. We didn't discover that they were unlicensed until it became clear that they were not qualified to peform the work they were paid to do.  One example of their lack of qualifications is that during the installation of our new Pella windows, the workers were using such force to place the new windows in, the drywall inside my home cracked.  I then noticed that the windows were installed with no window jams. I asked why they were using such force to cause cracks in the interior of my home and why there were no jams, and was given several, inconsistent explanations that made no sense.  I required that they stop work on the home until the issue could be resolved. 3. As of 9/16/2022, the work remains unfinished.  Since they stopped working, I have learned that they removed structual componenets surrounding a large window in the front of my home when taking out the old window.  They installed the new window without replacing the structual components (headers) - even though THE CONTRACT EXPLCITLY REQUIRED THE INSTALLTION OF STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS WITH THE NEW WINDOW.  In addition to the incomplete work, I have been advised that if the window isn't reinstalled with the structural compenets, the roof in that area of the home will begin to sag and eventually fall in. 4.   The lien remains today, despite the fact that they know they broke the law in placing the lien (and performing the work on my home while unlicensed).  In fact, THEIR ATTORNEY CALLED ME ABOUT THE OUTSTANDING BALANCE THEY CLAIMED I OWED FOR THE UNCOMPLETED WORK AND WHEN I TOLD HIM THEY WERE UNLICENSED, HE SAID HE WAS UNAWARE AND IF THAT WAS TRUE, I WOULDN'T HEAR FROM HIM AGAIN.  I NEVER HEAD FROM HIM AGAIN!! THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET THE WORK DONE BY A LICENSED AND QUALIFIED CONTRACTOR IS TO PAY FOR THE ENTIRE JOB TO BE REDONE BECAUSE NO OTHER CONTRACT IS WILLING TO WORK FROM WHAT FIRST RESPONSE STARTED BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT THE LIABILITY FROM TFIRST RESPONSE'S WORK. read more

TERRIBLE - Don't believe anything they tell you - I would give them ZERO Stars!! They offered a coupon for 10% Off Police / Military personal and refuse to honor it! This coupon has no expiration date - no restrictions and is still on there website as of today. It's a scam to get you to call them. Mario came to my house gave us an estimate of $46,000 for a 30 X 40 pole barn and then said because the current cost of wood and cement - he couldn't take the coupon. I was told to talk to Dave {the manager} he never returned any of my calls or messages! They farm out ALL of the work to different people - every step of the building process was a different building company. NONE of the people that were sent to my house work directly for First Response - they all told us that - they have to bid on different jobs and then the cheapest bidder basically gets the work! A Bunch of trees were cut down to make room for the barn {HUGE MESS} I wanted the tree branches, stumps, and chunks of trees all removed from my yard and I was told it was not included and was charged another $1,000 for that tree clean up! Also some of the workers made a huge mess with there lunches, snacks, candy just garbage all over my property even leaving empty bottles, wrappers from fast food, empty cigarette packages as well as ALL the cigarette butts all over the ground! I also had LOTS of nails - screws pieces of building debris everywhere - it sat like that for weeks - When I complained about the mess in my yard - I was told someone would come to clean it up but it NEVER HAPPENED! We had 2 big garbage bags filled with trash! We were shocked to find out that the price of the pole barn does NOT INCLUDE any electricity, NO inside walls, NO insulation - I mean NOTHING it is just the thin metal outside siding! NO JOKE - If we want anything else it's was going to cost more money... We basically have a empty shell in the back yard! NOT HAPPY at all... I provided pictures to show what we were charged - this is the truth! BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!! ........................................................................................................................... UPDATE -- Finally, Today 6 - 17 -21 at 3:45p.m. I finally received my call back from "Dave Graham " and Bill They was not happy with this review I wrote (I must of struck a nerve) He also felt the need to belittle me and call me derogatory names. Then he informed me he was no longer going to honor the warranty or fix anything on my pole barn if I should ever need any sort of repairs in the future! He asked exactly what I wanted and I said THE 10% COUPON AND MY $1,000 CLEAN UP FEE -- and he still refused to honor the coupon or refund any of the clean up fee I was charged. Real Nice - What a piece of work he is! ........................................ And F.Y.I. -- 1 final update 7/05/21 - I stick by this whole review - I told he truth and they can't handle the truth! Bill asked me on the phone {what do I want from them} and I said it again.. the 10% Coupon off Military / Police discount and my $1,000 clean up fee returned! IT'S -REALLY -SIMPLE -GUYS! But again they said told me NO way and gave me a bunch of reasons why it's not gonna happen... So that's how they want to run there company! read more

Back in June this company came and removed decking from my second story to get at a small area of flat roof that was leaking. They tore it apart and have not repaired it. We are now in September. I am posting this for my parents in Marine City, MI - They had an awful experience with this company: When it was time for us to get a new roof, I called around to get estimates from a few different roofing companies. First response seemed like the best option as the man I dealt with walked me through what they planned to do. I trusted that this job would be taken care of professionally while I was recovering from neck surgery, but I guess I judged this company all wrong. First of all, the man who walked me through what he would be doing for my roof said he would be on the job to make sure things would be done properly. However, when the job started and through the week he was nowhere to be found. When the job was happening, tarps were said to be used, however, I had to make a special call for them to come out and clean up the mess of shingles and nails in my lawn and patio/porch. However, this wasn't even done properly as I am still finding nails and pieces of shingles in my lawn from the job 6 months ago. And just a month ago, I found a roofing nail in my car tire! The job was so messy that they also left black marks on the siding of my house! However, my biggest gripe has to do with my car port and the way they handle customer service. There is a spot on my car port that needed to be redone and this was included in my estimate. When I was finally able to walk after my neck surgery, I went outside to look at it and it was propped up with an awful looking 2x4 beam thing, with a rain cover. It's ugly to say the least, but the biggest problem... IT STILL LEAKS! When I called to have them redo this part, my calls were ignored. I left messages and my calls were never returned. To try it out, I called them on a separate phone line to see if they would answer me and they did, so they finally had no choice but to talk to me. They still have not fixed my car port roof. This is by far some of the worst service and work I've dealt with from any construction company. If I were you, I'd make first response my last resort when getting a roof done. read more

Dave is a terrible person to deal with. Never around and hard to get ahold of on the phone. Had a house that burnt down and his company took a 1000 dollar Deposit and did nothing for it. His company told the insurance company it would be rebuilt in 9 months and they did nothing for 3 months. I finally had another builder go the job. Dave never refunded my money and I lost 3 months rent from the insurance company because that's what this company told them it would take. You would smart to take your business elsewhere.
