I was in Gainesville for a concert and stopped by First Magnitude Brewing before the show. This brewery was really cool and definitely worth checking out. The outside area is spacious and a great place to hang out and drink a beer. Just a really nice setup with a laid-back vibe. Their Honey Bee Citrus Blonde Ale was the highlight for me. That beer has officially moved into my top 5. I could drink it all day and honestly, I pretty much did since I found it on tap at a few other places while I was in Gainesville. Now I'm hoping I can find it somewhere near me in Orlando. Overall, great brewery, great outdoor space, and an amazing beer. I'd definitely go back. read more

We went here for a Facebook event, and I was really surprised at this place. The ambience is just a vibe! The event was bbq, beer, & plants, our favorite things! (Please note these photos are of an event, and they do not have vendors outside every day. Their Facebook posts all their events.) The brewery doors were open, so you get to peek inside and see where they make the beer. The staff was working extremely proficient, and I never waited more than a few minutes for a draft. Parking was a breeze, and we arrived right at event start. The beer was fantastic, and mine even contained honey! Colby got the sugar and spice, and he loved it, and says it was "verrrrry good." I even got to share some of my stickers with the world, so thank you for a chill family day, my teen even enjoyed herself. We can't wait to return. read more

Very cool local brewery with a huge outdoor space. There's a large selection of varied beers, from light, fruity, IPAs, sessions, and dark lagers. This is a great place for a flight to sample the different options. Staff is very friendly, taking time to help with decision making while the line keeps moving quickly. They actually know about the beers and can discuss them with helpful insights. There's no kitchen but a regular rotation of food trucks. read more

We have been wanting to visit here and the perfect opportunity came up when we were at a YES event close by. We actually arrived before they opened so we were the first customers. Well there was a private party outside but no regular traffic. As we entered, we were greeted almost immediately. I really did not plan on which beer to order. I went with the Pavo Pilsner since Pilsners are my favorite. Hubs went with Ursa, since he has had that previously. Once we ordered, they asked for a card to start a tab. Since we were the only patrons, we were able to choose where to sit. I am not exaggerating when I say this, not even 20 minutes later, the place was packed! We decided to order one more and close out. The Pilsner was really good but for whatever reason, I chose a cider. The cider was good, like most ciders. I love the design of their logo so I purchased a cup and some dog treats since our munchkin was not with us. Here were a couple of food trucks outside and they were both very busy. The food smelled delicious! We will definitely be back, especially when it's a lot cooler out so we can enjoy the backyard/patio area. read more

This brewery is located in Gainesville not far from the college. When you drive up parking seems sparce but you will be amazed by how huge this brewery is inside and out. They have a huge gated front lawn with well over 50 tables and a stage, inside is where the bar is with a few tables and outside they have a huge covered standing area near the kegs and another covered seating area with over 10 tables. We stopped in for a beer and the flavors were so nice my husband decided to get a flight. I'm not much of a beer drinker so I was delighted they had two different ciders. For the flight my husband picked a few I might like and I actually really loved them. So I will say they have something for everyone. Quite literally actually... they also have apple juice soda handmade in house for kids. This brewery is great for all ages with plenty of space for them to have fun and there are also games inside great for all ages. I love the flight because it's inside a Florida license plate. I think this is a cool concept. Despite being busy on this rainy day the male bartender that assisted us really took his time and let us try as many as we wanted and didn't rush us. I thought they had excellent service. They don't make their own food but they had a food truck on site that was quite delicious. It was street food with a Asian flare. I got potstickers while my son got corn dogs and French fries. Overall we loved the beer so much my husband got some beer to-go for him and a beer enthusiast friend. When we pass through again we will certainly be coming back here. It was packed on a rainy day but everyone was mostly under cover. First Mag has a very nice back yard! I was there last night and there were: couples, friends, coworkers, and parents with their children, and everyone has on the cool vibes helmet! The culture at this brewery tends to create a very peaceful atmosphere. There is a stage for bands to play. There are plenty of places to sit and relax Adirondack chairs, picnic tables, and many of them have propane fires to add to the charm and take the chill out of the Florida winter nights. I met a friend there. My friend and I met three ladies from Poland and all five of us drank beer and talked for about an hour! You can also bring in food from other places and eat here. The URSA IPA is one of the most delicious I've had, and I order an IPA almost every time! Very smooth, mellow, almost a tad sweet, and a very refreshing kick to it. Pretty cool spot to watch the game or live music. The beer is really good and there is a large variety. The food trucks that come depend on the day so it can be hit or miss. There is lots of seating and space, but it doesn't seem to be very crowded. This place has the potential to be a very fun place to watch sport games and concerts, but seems a little bit strict. Good place to go with a bigger group because the tables are big and there is lots of space for kids to run around. I recommend they add some lawn games (cornhole, washers, etc.) to make it a little bit more lively. Cool hidden spot though. I hope it can grow into something more popular! read more

Brews and curbside pickup are amazing! Haven't experienced the beer garden / big screens yet but have to believe the reviews that's it's a great place to catch a game. I've had FM beer before when out in the area (Ursa IPA specifically - a classic west coast hoppy centennial-based IPA; always good) but stopped by the brewery for curbside pickup this time to grab some of their new ones. Placed an order online, pulled up to the curbside pickup spots in the back, let them know I was there, and beers brought out immediately and put right in the back of the car. Couldn't be better and much appreciated! Tried the Special Delivery #4 and Springs Session Juicy IPA today. #4 is crazy good. Hazy, east coast IPA with low to medium bitterness and a ton of flavor like a more full version of a juicy IPA. This is probably my favorite kind of beer and it was exactly what I was hoping for. Absolutely recommend if it still exists - and curious how this compares to the others in the series. Springs was just as described - a juicy IPA with all of the orange/melon/mango flavor of a juicy but a little lighter being a session. I actually think this one would have been too fruity if it were a normal higher ABV juicy so it works. If you're looking for a variety of IPAs to run the gamut of flavors grab these two and Ursa and you'll definitely be happy! read more

Just went by the brewery for the first time today! For the COVID-19 pandemic, they have transformed the warehouse into a convenient drive-thru. You can order in-advance online (which is the best way to see the current beers and prices), or just order in-person. The precautions they were taking that I saw were far superior than any other place I have been to. They used cardboard lids to collect your credit card and carts to deliver the growlers, which were constantly being sprayed. All the employees were wearing masks and gloves, and always stayed 6 ft away. Growler glasses started at $1.87 for 32 oz, and the fills start at $10. I tend to like sour beers, so I got the Kombucha (not a big fan - - interesting coconut flavor, though) and the Gose (excellent fruity slightly hoppy taste). My total was ~$25 for the two 32 oz growlers with fills...not bad! With their excellent service, convenience, and prices, I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Absolutely gargantuan in size thanks to a taproom, an outdoor area, and an additional covered area with the best view in sight: tanks and fermenters. 2. Beer is solid all around. Typically, when you sample many brews there are a few that miss the mark. Everything I tasted at First Magnitude would be a beer I'd order again. Special props to their new core beer, Ursa, a hearty American IPA that's as bold as a punch to the groin! 3. Warmth and hospitality from the employees. Although I was originally here for an event, I ended up overstaying my welcome by shutting the place down. Real salt of the earth dudes and dudettes on staff here, and their knowledge of craft beer gives me all the warm fuzzies. I fell in love and was introduced to their heavenly 72 Pale Ale - the thought of both negated the distance between Jax & Gville And always gave me something to look forward to at the end of my drive! It had a beer garden with a shady area. My first thought was they could put a lot more benches and seating out there. They had games you could play for entertainment. Food/Drink 5/5 The night we went a food truck was outside so you could purchase tasty treats. I don't think they offer food on premise. The beer options were plentiful from Pale Ales to Dark stouts. At least 20+ with many they rotate out. I liked the "flight option" to purchase smaller samples. We narrowed our wedding pick down to the First Magnitude IPA.
