    Phenomenal stout!

Brewery #392 Swamp Head is a huge facility and with a large distribution footprint, let's just call them a craft brewery instead of a microbrewery. The ladyfriend and I came here on a Friday night while passing through town. We were hungry and I can always use a beer. The place was packed with no inside seating available. Luckily it was pretty mild temperature wise, so we found a picnic table outside. They had a guy playing Tom Petty on acoustic guitar which seemed perfect since Petty is from the area. So, we got some quesadillas from the food truck and enjoyed. I have had Swamp Head before in cans as the can be found in a few New Orleans stores. I ordered my standard flight which came with 4-5-ounce beers. i got Not a Flamingo (Milkshake IPA), Caramel Roll (Stout), Sky Puppies (Hazy IPA) and a sour (I didn't write the name down. The star of the show was the Caramel Roll which tasted just like a Rolo candy in liquid form. Dessert! They other beers were solid too. My only issue with the place was the parking. The parking lot was full and everywhere around the lot had no parking signs. It took me a few minutes to find a spot.

I was introduced to Swamp Head for the first time a few years ago by my fiancé, as he is originally from the area. We live out of the state, but always make it a point to stop when we are in town. The brewery is located a few blocks off of 34th. It may seem like you are going the wrong way when getting back to the building, but it is correct. There is a private parking lot right in front of the brewery. I have personally never had an issue getting a spot. On this particular trip, we stopped on a Thursday in July. We first arrived around 2 PM, but did not realize they did not open until 3. We visited some local stores around the area and returned after 3 to order some drinks. Given that it was early afternoon, the crowd was light and service was very prompt and personal. This location is truly so unique with the plethora of both indoor and outdoor seating, and the wonderful outdoor space. This time, we sat inside at the bar due to it being somewhat rainy. We have enjoyed time out on the deck before, and it is a wonderful spot to enjoy a drink. The menu here is all drinks. Mostly beer, but there are some different cider and non-alcoholic options as well. There were none on this particular visit, but I have been here before when there are food trucks to purchase a meal from in the parking lot. Additionally, they sell merchandise and have special promotions for various events and happenings. We wanted to try several of the selections on tap, so we opted for a sampler. After trying some samples from the bartender, we opted for the Lemon Days, Raspberry Creamsicle, Maple Baby, and Hoggetown. The sample pours were a good size, and two of us were able to share. My personal favorite of the four was the Lemon Days - it was the perfect summer beer and the lemon flavor was wonderful. My fiancé enjoyed the Raspberry Creamsicle, which would go great with dessert. The other two were also tasty! All were very enjoyable. We always buy some cans to take back home with us. This time, we got a new favorite, Lemon Days, along with Apex Sour and Blueberry Wanderer. They are helping to hold us over until our next trip down! The pricing here is comparable to any type of craft brewery. With our purchase of the sampler, to-go beers, and other merchandise, we spent around $100 this particular trip. The staff always are friendly and helpful. We were able to get several samples before we ordered, and enjoyed conversations with the guys working behind the bar that afternoon. Always love visiting this great brewery. The beer is great, and there is always a wide variety of unique brews to try. It is such a scenic location, and very unique to Florida and the brand. Can't wait until our next trip down so we can visit Swamp Head again!

Can't believe I never came here in college. Such a cool spot! It was packed for an event but still a great time, they a had food truck and performers. The cider I got was good but taking off one star because the guy at the register was pretty rude to us. We asked a question about the menu and he got so annoyed and was trying to rush us. Loved the outside area - so pretty.

Such a fun, chill brewery. You're able to bring your dogs so that's fun. We tried their Halloween beers and they tasted just like their flavors suggested. It can get packed but worth a visit in Gainesville!

Cool place on Gainesville. Love their specialty brews......raspberry cream sickle, a pineapple orange carrot hazy ipa, several more.... Great staff..... parking on site.

Came here to give it a try when visiting from out of town. It was recommended by my sister and her husband. There was plenty of seating and lots of drink options to suit a y taste. I tried a couple of their sours, both of which were good. Service was great and they allowed samples before ordering your drink to ensure you'd be happy with your choice! It did get a bit loud at times when large groups went through, but overall we had a pleasant experience and we're able to hear each others conversations.

Checked this place out today for the first time since moving to Florida and kind of felt left out from missing this place out for the past few months. This place is located in an unexpected location- nowhere close to the main road. If the GPS is taking you away from the Archer road, you are probably heading to the right direction. Anyways, they really have a variety of beer selections that you will either be comatose or end up having a very thin wallet by the time you try all the selections. I enjoyed the beer and the food truck that was there (forgot the name unfortunately- but they change almost daily it seems like!). Will definitely come back real soon!

Swamp head brewery is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of UF and feels like its own separate oasis! The selection of beer is decent not too much where it can be overwhelming and enough for everyone to find something they like! There are even 2 soda options for alcohol free folks I highly recommend a 4 small glass flight for $12 to try a bit of everything! They unfortunately don't serve food but have a single food truck that rotates. The Outside area is the real star of the show with a cute little pond and lots of grass to roam or sit. There is a giant calendar showing all the events going on that month. It can get super busy during events but parking usually isn't too bad! Definitely recommend giving it a try

A great brewery tucked away on a side street. A very large indoor and outdoor seating area for whatever you choose. They have a huge selection of brews, from lagers to pilsners and everything in between. I had a couple sours and a lager and really enjoyed them. The bartenders took time to explain each selection and were not shy about letting you try one to see if you liked it. They have live music on weekends which is also a plus

This is the biggest brewery in the area, with a stage on the lawn for entertainment. Cypress & Grove may have a bigger indoor space (private rooms), but there is ample outdoor. Very family friendly place, which can be a positive or a negative, depending on your viewpoint. I am not as fond of Swamp Head's canned selection, but I did find the stuff in the brewery to be much nicer. They have one that is like a peanut butter & jelly sandwich that nails it ... down to the bread flavor. Very unique. I am not sure which brewery I like the best in Gainesville - probably Blackadder, but they are niche - but this, Cypress & Grove, and First Magnitude all rank highly. One thing of note: If you have not been and think the map is incorrect, the map is right. This is in a strange spot tucked back in an industrial area. You can take either exit 382 or 384 to snake back here. If you swing off exit 384, consider a stop at Blackadder while you are at it. No food on premises, but regular food trucks.

Ask the Community - Swamp Head Brewery

Is it family friendly at like noon on a Saturday if coming for food trucks?

Yes! Any time I have visited Swamp Head, there are families with children of all ages. There is a patio to sit, as well as the vast outdoor area. Especially in the daytime when the food trucks are there, it is a welcoming atmosphere for families.

    Do you serve food?

    They have food trucks.

There is a long bar, sitting area with fire place and an outside area as well. Chris Hart, the owner and brewer is doing something very right here. The beer selection is diverse. I think I counted 19 beers on tap, plus a host of guest taps including cider and wine. They do Belgians right here, but there were also sours, gose, pilsner, IPAs, porter, brown ale, and some European favorites like a winter warmer, hefeweizen and Marzen. The BEER: Wicked Child Belgian Strong Ale 14% ABV... sips like it is under 10%, smooth and delicious, just very slightly boozy. This is the strongest beer in Gainesville The Snow Gose 4 5% ABV... everything you would expect, sour and salty goodness Pucker Round fruited Gise 5.5% ABV... holy wow, a little tonic, and a lot of pucker. Good. Key lime and passion fruit Lord of Flashheart Belgian blonde 6.5% ABV... yes this is a grand blonde, well balanced and easy drinking Queenie Belgian amber 6% ABV... I love this amber, especially the warm hug I feel after a few sips. It mellows as it warms. Saint Sydney Belgian Dubbel 7.5% ABV... Oh yes, yes, yes, yes! This is the real McCoy, slightly boozy, semi sweet and quite delicious. Date Night Belgian quad 12% ABV... you can definitely taste the alcohol in this one. Not subtle, but definitely delicious, especially if you like Belgians I Cherries You Belgian fruit beer 7% ABV... wow, this is absolutely delicious, on the dryer side, but still semi sweet and absolutely crushable Real Eyes Realize Imperial IPA 9.25% ABV... perfectly balanced imperial IPA, sweet, juicy, delicious A little citrus and a whole lot of orange rind. This IPA has character. If I had to classify this brewery it would be a sophisticated craft beer experience. And, if I have any criticism it is that if you open a tab, they keep your card. (I'll be honest, I may have actually shed a tear or two over it.) I was both excited and nervous to see what the new and "improved" LS would be like when it reopened (last week.) I was pleasantly surprised to visit tonight and see the spirit of the store captured with new whimsy and more AC than I've ever experienced at Satchels! The store portion is way smaller, but it's still just as fun. The space is more open and clean (without feeling sterile.) Anyone who has ever been there on a Friday or Saturday night knows just how needed that extra space is! The dining portion, while may technically be less tables, feels way more open. The tables are new and filled with collections (which are appreciated, especially since they lost the collection museum in the fire.) There is a sewing pattern table, a Polaroid table, a I phone screen table, a key table, a match book table, a cassette table, a bike chain table, and a couple more I couldn't view due to guests. The bar is flocked with completed puzzles and more whimsy. For those not familiar with Satchels or Lightnin' Salvage, Satchels is Gainesville's most local, funky, and delicious pizza joint, and LS is the fun shop in the back where you can meander through collections and interesting new yet vintage style toys; or simply have a drink while you wait for your table to be ready. There was a order at the counter component for food in the past, but in all my years of going I never took advantage of until tonight. Tonight I took advantage of it because 1. There was zero wait vs the (not bad for Friday at Satchels) 20 minute wait inside Satchels 2. I wanted to scope the new digs 3. I wanted to enjoy the live music 4. I wanted to enjoy the magic of their new AC. I know I've mentioned the AC twice now but this is probably the first time I've visited Satchels on a summer night and not sweat! The AC is amazing! Overall, It is not the old LS but it has many different great qualities. LS offers a cute and quirky store, nice bar area, it's own ATM (its cash only), and the ability to order Satchels pizza and salad more quickly. The food does come in to go containers and does lose a little of its magic in that, but it is still the same tasty food that put Satchels on the map.

I just wish I lived in Gainesville to watch the metamorphosis over time. I'll be back semi-annually, and I'll always go back to see how it has inevitably changed. There is also an irreverent gift shop with lots of fun stuff, and they also have live music on certain nights. Love Satchel's and Lightning.

Loosey's has to be a local favorite because the quality and freshness of the food is outstanding. Matthew is a local treasure and made our experience there so memorable and fun. We all remarked that it must be so electric there when live music is on stage or it's a Gator game day. We started with the loaded potato skins. There were 5 large pieces that were covered with toppings and delivered pipping hot. I could easily order that as a meal next time I'm in town. Their house ranch dipping sauce that is drizzled on top was delicious. Several in our group ordered the Chic-fil Loosey's, which is a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, but I wasn't able to grab a photo as they were so eager to get started eating it. The portion of chicken breast was extremely large and the batter was perfectly crispy. Both diners exclaimed it was one of their all- time favorite chicken sandwiches they had ever eaten. Another diner took advantage of their wing special and exclaimed the Buffalo Garlic sauce was fantastic and she paired them with their ranch as well. She loved their added touch of the small paper basket topping the plate of wings for the bones. I had the Classic Beef Burger and it was cooked perfectly. There was a nice peppery flavor to the grill of the burger and the patty size was more than I expected. Especially for the price. I was so happy we found Loosey's. It was really good food.
