Almost every single one quoted us twenty five hundred dollars or more just to inspect, and all of them said they would need to remove the solar panels just to assess the problem. That basically meant committing to a full job before anyone even knew what was wrong. Kapili was completely different from the start. Roxy and Cody came out and were professional, polite, and right on time. They inspected everything thoroughly, explained that they would pass their findings along to the customer relations team, and headed out. Steven, their customer relations rep, called me shortly after and explained that our roof is basically brand new and pointed out the spot that was leaking, plus one more area near a different flashing point that needed attention. They repaired both spots on the spot, at no charge, and didn't even mention it until Steven called to fill me in. They told me if it leaks again, they will come back out, reassess, and go from there. In this day and age, that kind of honesty and follow through is rare. Roxy, Cody, and Steven made what could have been an expensive, stressful situation simple and stress free. Rocky, the owner, lives nearby and made time to come out on a Saturday, which I really appreciated given the urgency. He was straightforward and honest in identifying that the leak was coming from the hot water heater panel joints--not the roof itself. He also took the time to send photos and clearly explained what needed to be done to fix it. I had reached out to nine different roofers over a few days. Only one other responded by text on Monday, and another didn't call back until four days later. Rocky's responsiveness and professionalism really stood out. If I ever need a roof inspection or replacement in the future, Rocky will be my first call.

My understanding was that many of the roofing companies were all very busy. Surface Shield Roofing was the first one to respond. I was contacted by Isaac who made an appointment to inspect my roof within a week. He arrived on time and inspected my roof. He provided me with a detailed quote a week later as promised. Very professional. He did advise me that they were not necessarily the cheapest but that they do good work and stand behind what they did. I subsequently got contacted and received quotes from several other roofing companies. Some of the other companies i contacted did not even bother to respond. Eventually I did select a different company than Surface Shield based upon price and since my job was only repair work. However i was very impressed with Surface Shield and Isaac and his sense of urgency and professionalism. If i am in need of a major roofing job in the future, will definitely consider Surface Shield.

I called West Oahu Roofing after the storm that hit Oahu on Thursday, January 30, 2025 because I discovered a small leak in my living room. Bernard, the owner & President came out Saturday following the storm and found the leak right away. Despite being a small job, he promptly submitted a proposal. After other companies came out, I hired West Oahu Roofing. Bernard also sent his carpenter to look at a corner of my home subject to rot due to rain/moisture. In a few days both my leak in the living room and exterior rot were fixed on the same day! I certainly recommend West Oahu Roofing, and will call them for future roofing issues.

Unlike other roofing companies who wanted to fix the whole roof, Tulba's Roofing only fixed what needed to be fixed. And now I don't have to worry about the leak. If my roof need fixing, I'll call Tulba's Roofing again.

I had attempted some DIY roof coating material years ago (as seen in the Before pics) that may have contributed to those problems. We had site visits and estimates from all the roofing companies you see on TV before we contacted Tulba's. My experience with Tulba's: Nov. 6 Called to set up a site visit and get a quote Nov. 7 Ernie came out to my home and performed the inspection himself Nov. 8 Estimate received Email correspondence, clarifying scope, questions, etc. Nov. 13 Contract signed Nov. 23 Ernie and his crew show up bright and early to start work. 95% of the work done in 1 day with final touches done the next day. We could not be happier with the end product and service we received. Ernie is behind all the back office stuff, emailing me back late at night and I respect that grind. The crew worked hard and made sure my property was clean after their work was done. Definitely recommend them and the Yelp algorithm should recognize it soon too.
