This business and the employees working there are very honest. I especially want to commend the Assistant Manager (I didn't get his name) for helping me today. I brought some items in to sell and he asked me how much I wanted for all 3 items. I said, "I think $150 is a fair price." What he said next actually shocked me... HE OFFERED ME MORE MONEY THAN MY ORIGINAL OFFER. I was amazed. He could've easily said, "Well, the best I could do is $120, final offer." But he didn't say that. He was very honest, very transparent, and overall very nice to talk to. I hope he goes far in life, and I hope this business does really well. I don't leave too many reviews for many places that I shop... just because nothing remarkable ever happens. But my experience at this shop WAS remarkable. The guy wasn't rude, but I'm not sure he wanted me to buy anything? Almost seemed like he didn't want me in the shop Anyways. Quoted me ~40% over that I'd expected and typically pay, I said that was high, his reply (and I quote) "go buy it elsewhere" Said that "since he was so (too) expensive, there was no need to discuss other business" AKA get out and don't ask about other products. I've pawned a few things here over the past year. If I had written this review after the first 2 visits, it would have been a 5-star. I was pleased to see that this pawn shop at the time was staffed mostly by women. I normally hate walking into a pawn shop because they are usually staffed by pushy, aggressive men who will jump down your throat if you slightly object to something they say or try to haggle, and they just generally treat you like dirt. As soon as I receive this kind of treatment at a pawn shop, I walk out and never return. Fast forward to almost a year later, I go back in to pawn another item, thinking that my experience will be the same. WRONG. They now have a little guy working there, and he seems to have a bit of a Napoleon complex. I tried to pawn an item that I had previously pawned at this same location, and he told me he was unable to accept the item. When I questioned why and pointed out that I had pawned this exact same item before at this exact same shop, his voice took on an aggressive tone and he all but told me off. It's not often that I find myself in a situation where I have to pawn or sell my belongings. But when it happens, I do not wish to be treated with disrespect. I may come back to this location once more, should I need to, because I know that one-off situations occur. However, another unpleasant encounter with "Napoleon" or anyone like him will turn me off for good. read more

I shopped around at a few places to sell a gold necklace that I've not worn in 20 years and had all but forgetten that I'd owned. I first went to "Buy Gold" in North Austin near the HEB off McNeil/Parmer. ("Buy Gold" are these cheesy little makeshift shops that look very temporary and "fly by night" kind of place...With near zero overhead I thought they would offer me the best price. They offered me $310.00 for the necklace, and even offered some negative attitude for free! I next went to "Gold Gals" off Resarch in North Austin near Oak Knoll. They were very professional, and offered $410.00. My next stop was at a Pawn Shop. I've only walked into a pawn shop once before in my life, so I wasn't expecting much. I expected them to not offer much, thinking they would low ball me and I'd go back to Gold Gals. To my surprise they offered $600.00! They were professional and very easy to deal with. I went to the one at 13215 Research Blvd., that's where I sold my necklace. During this process I also phoned "South Austin Gold Exchange", off Slaughter. I heard great things about them. They also offered me about the same price as "First cash Pawn", but were a long drive so I stuck with First Cash Pawn. Interesting note: I always thought pawn shop's biggest item was electronics. I asked the mgr at this pawn shop, and he said tools are by far their #1 item, followed by jewelry. BTW, I sold this gold chain because gold prices seemed to have topped out...their price has fallen by 10% in last 30 days. You might want to sell yours! read more

I went into First Cash Pawn based on the previous review. I took my mother's custom diamond and emerald cocktail ring that was made by one of the best and most reputable jewelry stores in all of Newport Beach, California. I knew going in what it was valued and appraised at - just shy of $2500.00. The owner's offer was offending and repulsive. He offered me $165.00 to buy and only $160.00 for a pawn. He valued this beautiful custom ring like a ring that comes out of a Cracker Jack box. If you have nice jewelry to sell or pawn do not waste your time and effort taking it here go somewhere else. read more
