I had to have a new furnace installed and it was under a home warranty program that I had and wasn't really 100% confident with the choices that the warranty program suggested that I reach out to. Turns out that first call heating has a stellar crew and I am extremely happy with the work they did and the patience they had with my concerns. I haven't had to deal with new furnaces for a long time so they definitely did a good job on that. I don't know how they price compared to other shops because that's not something that you can really just look up or call and ask. After having a brief conversation with the owner on one of the issues I was facing concerning the warranty company he took the time to really break it down for me as to how they work and that my warranty company was the one that he chose to stay with. Over the years, he used to have a few others, but apparently they did not serve the customer very well (and them). I had a Lennox Elite installed and it's definitely a nice furnace...I just hope that it outlast the other brands out there. The warranty on parts and labor seem to be pretty comprehensive. What is also nice to know is that with first call heating and cooling, they have a very nice 100% satisfaction guarantee for the first year. The way that it was explained to me was if anything goes wrong at all, I don't pay a dime and they come out and fix the issue should there be one. I'll wrap this up by saying that when the crew comes out to your house to do an install, they are extremely polite, kind and very conscientious of what they're doing. Had Juan from First Call out on the 27th to assess why our furnace was not heating the house. After a while he stated that he believed the blower motor needed to be replaced. He also mentioned that the furnace had just gotten to the low side of its lifespan and gave us the option of replacing the part or the entire unit. We opted to replace the part. Juan said he had put it into his office to order said part and that they would contact us soon to schedule installation and that we should expect it to cost $800-$1200 all said and done. I paid Juan $120 for initial assessment. On the 31st, my wife called the office for an update. The office stated that we opted to do nothing and no part was ordered. My wife informed them we did want the part and installation and was told that was fine but it would be $1700. Needless to say we will be going elsewhere to have this service done as this company is either completely disorganized or dishonest, possibly both. read more

I never received the quote and the lady who I was talking to seemed like she was trying to get me off the phone as fast as possible. Not the experience I was looking for when I need to depend on a company to service my furnace. Do not use this company! They installed a furnace a few years ago. We had them come out every year to do a furnace tune up. We had it scheduled for today. Yesterday they called and told us that they had to change the time of the service call. We had to make some changes in our schedule but got it done. Then the day of the service they called us at 7:30 a.m. and told us that we were out of their area and would have to charge us $75.00 more for a trip charge. Something that they never did all of these years. They never mentioned the added cost when we set up the appointment or when they called to change the time of the appointment, just on the day of the call at 7:30 in the morning. These guys show up for 10 minutes and if you don't have a newer furnace they tell you they can't fix yours and want to try to sell you one. They charge you over $100 to tell you that and then say they will give you a free estimate for a new furnace. Seems to me the estimate isn't free. read more

I have a service agreement w First Call, so I never have to wait long til they get to my house. I recently had problems w my AC not cooling the house, and I called them. They replaced the dual run capacitor, which takes about five minutes. Per our service agreement, they charged me $80 for the service call, and $150 for the capacitor and five minutes labor. I did some research and found this to be a common occurrence and price range fixing this type of problem. Although I believe the price is pretty steep, I am not horribly unhappy w the charge. I understand they have knowledge of fixing AC units that is not commonly held. I watched a You Tube video, and it is about 5 screws and a simple plug in device. I am a mechanical moron and could have done this myself. Had I known the exact problem, the part is about $25. Just sayin. I do highly recommend them, as they are quick and reliable. read more

I almost didn't call today because I read negative reviews about First Call Heating & Cooling in a different state and didn't realize it was for a different business. We have used First Call for 17 years and never had a problem so I would go with who I liked. I'm so glad I did. Stephanie answered the phone and scheduled Joel to come out the same day around my busy schedule. Joel was very patient with me as I am disabled and had to let my dogs out before he entered and again before he came back upstairs. He knew what the problem was within 15 minutes. He advised what the problem was, how much it would cost to fix and did a short term fix for a day until my part came in. He scheduled a return appt for the next day at the exact time I requested. He said there would only be one trip charge though and he would not charge me until he fixed it. After 4 hours had gone by and the house had not cooled down any, I called and asked if maybe something else could be wrong or if the bad circuit board would cause the temperature not to be controlled because the blower was working now. Stephanie sent Matt out. This happened to be the most hectic day for us. Matt got there and said he would check things out to make sure there were no other issues and that the part actually was in already. I had to go to an appt for refinancing our house so he said no problem, my 16 yr old son was home & he could text me any info. About 30 minutes after Matt got there he was finished and told me the total. Only 1 trip charge for the both. The first diagnoses by Joel was correct the circuit board was bad in two areas so it fixed both problems, the blower and the temperature. He gave me the $ 20 off trip charge that was on their website and was willing to wait in my driveway until I got done signing the papers at the bank and returned home, about 15 minutes. He ran up the street and got gas in his vehicle and wrote up the paperwork while he waited. We got home I paid with a check and he emailed my paperwork and warranty and all was good. First Call is fantastic! They worked with us during our home warranty period with American Home Shield. AHS tried to give us the run-around, but First Call stood by what was really going on with our air and furnace. Joel is honest and will tell you what you need to hear. We ended up purchasing a new HVAC system after our air went out for good- we were having crazy troubles with our furnace last winter, so a new system was a good choice with all the discounts and tax credits. On friday 07 12 13 I called your company Kiernan & Laitinen to check my furnace it was making a loud noise. A service man arrived within 15 min I was told I needed a blower, but because the furnace was so old I said I wanted to buy a new one. Later that day the owner Jon arrived with several options, after making a selecting he stated he'd return the same day with an application which he did. I completed it over the weekend for Jon to pickup on monday, when he didnt come I called the office and was told he'd pick it up later that day, well he didn't nor did he even to call the weather was in the ninety's. This was very unprofessional I researched his company it was rated 1 out 5 stars & I see why.
