Rich Firicano, owner of Firicano's Barber Shop, may call himself a barber, but, I think he is a magician, as much as he is a barber. Rich is an expert at his trade of barbering, and magic. If Rich was not available, I'd have unwavering confidence in having Mark cut my hair. Firicano's has a very convenient, user-friendly, on-line platform to make appointments. Rich is always on-time. read more

Rich is excellent. Takes his time and hair cut "perfect". I go out of my way to see him. Right in the North end around the tourist area, but he is like going to a local family shop. Clean, all polite, professional read more

I recommend Firicano's to everyone in Boston. This is a great North End family business that has a real barbershop vibe. I have been going to Mark for years. He and Rich both are fun and friendly and do a great job. The shop itself is a comfortable place to hang out while you wait, except now during COVID. Right now it's by appointment per ordinance. But getting an appointment is quick and easy. I'm looking forward to watching sports while I wait again soon! Easy to walk over from the City Hall area and you can get there by the T to Haymarket. And after your haircut you can get lunch or a quick espresso in the neighborhood. Great place to spend a little time during the day. I live in Jamaica Plain and it's the only barbershop I go to. Check them out! read more

Always a good haircut. Easy to book, easy to find, easy on the wallet. Always a pleasant time. Love Firicano's! Thanks Mark read more

Amazing. Wanna go to a place where someone takes time, puts effort into their craft? Look no further. You're welcome.

Ive been looking for a quality + consistent barbershop for years and am glad Ive found Firicanos. A great cut, clean place, friendly staff, and fair price. Mark did a fantastic job with no knowledge of my hair. Will be returning! read more

Richie is an artist with the shears. Love this place..Great neighborhood shop, highly recommend it. read more

I visited Firicano's after a run-in with a different North End barbershop which left me with an unsatisfying, too-quickly done hack job. They don't even touch the level of quality or customer service that I experienced here. Not only did Mr. Firicano correct the mistakes (which were many) that were inflicted upon me by that other barbershop, but he provided the attention and customer service that one expects when one stops into a place of business. I ended up with a much shorter, but much better looking cut than I thought possible. My hair is getting a little long now, and I'm looking forward to returning to Firicano's for another great cut. For reference, the cut I got was: Fade up from the bottom a 0-3, and then a little left on the top that I was able to part with a comb and style to my liking. read more

Almost didn't want to write this review because I selfishly don't want Rich to get too busy. Great no nonsense men's cut at a reasonable price. Rich listens to his customers and executes well. I'll be going back for the foreseeable future. read more

Hesitated writing this review because I don't want this place getting crowded. It's that good. I've tried every high-rated haircut place in the North End and Financial District, and Firicano's is by far the best. Don't even think about going to Boston Barber & Tattoo- those guys are jerks and give you whatever haircut they want. Rich (owner) at Firicano's listens to you and gives you a professional haircut you can be proud to show off. My cut: Fade the sides and back from a #1 to a #2, cut the top a #4, blend it in. A modern guy's fade-cut, and Rich absolutely nails it. Look nowhere else. read more

Gentlemen of Boston - are you spending $40 plus to get your hairs cut? Do you want a no nonsense at a reasonable price that will get the job done better than those Newbury Street salons? If you answered yes to those questions then go to Firicano's in the North End. If you are doing a photo shoot for Emo Weekly, don't go there. I'm sorry, but $14 dollars for the most consistently great cuts in the city is some sort of illusion to me. I've been going here for 4 years and I didn't even think twice when he raised the price $2 a few years back. It's the consistency that amazes me. And don't get me started on the shave. The feel of warm lather on your face. The sharpness of the blade as it glides effortlessly across your chin. Screw that Mach 1000 bull they've been shoving down your throat on TV. Just go here. Smooth as a baby's behind. Then there's the atmosphere. Brick walls. Flatscreen TV's airing SportsCenter. GQ, Esquire, and Playboy line the magazine racks. Pure class. It's good to be a Gentleman of Leisure. read more

Great value for your money. A inexpensive $14 cut that I always round up to $20 (with hair, a solid tip is money that pays dividends) that doesn't look cheap. I've been here 4 times and always happy. Always a lone barber. I don't know his name, which tells you that he's not gonna instantly become your BFF. Though, he politely and intelligently volleys back my comments regarding baseball, football, etc. Some observations that you may consider pluses or minuses: Little small chit chat No appointments and often a small wait...it IS a barber shop after all. No wash before cuts (there's a sink, but I've never seen it used) You'll be hard press to improve on this place. read more

Honestly, my north end friend rave about this place for years and now that I live in the area, I swung in here when the time was right for a cut. I'm not sure what all the hype is about? Came here at 4:15 on a weds, got a seat, no problem. He (I guess it was Rich after reading other reviews) asked what I wanted and it was like I was speaking Greek. Maybe if I spoke Italian it would have been better, but I legit got an 8 min piss poor haircut. I had to go home and do touch ups myself in the mirror around my ears- it was so poor. I asked for a professional looking cut, where I can get out of the shower, not run a comb through it and look fine. I told him that in the summer, I usually do a #2 on the side with a fade #3 on top...didn't really get that, I just got a messy lack luster quick cut... Overall, I was very disappointed with my cut, so much so that I'm writing about my experience here. I'm not going to come back here, not worth my time or my money. I'll be heading over to Boston Barber Co over on Salem going forward, I should have never left you guys! They are worth my $20, not this place read more

After several years of random haircuts at chains whenever my girlfriend happened to be getting her hair done I decided I was sick of mediocre cuts like the one in my profile photo and went searching for a real barbershop. I settled on Firicano's thanks to Yelp and it's become one of my favorite barbershops over the past year. Whether it's the day before an event, job interviews or back to school (I'm a teacher) Firicano's quickly became my go to spot. Hell, I got my hair cleaned up here on my wedding day. Mostly gotten my shaves and cuts from Sal, I think I only had Rick once (that'd be the wedding haircut), and each time I step out of the shop with great hair for next to nothing ($16, come on). And if you've never had a real shave with hot lather and a straight razor you owe it to yourself to get one done. Sal's a master with the razor and the extra minutes and 12 bucks you spend on the shave feel like a goddamn spa weekend away. read more

I've been taking my 13 year old son here for years and Rich is an artist. We were there today and his $14 hair cut is the best my son has ever had. Plain and simple he's the best and my son requests to get his haircut. If I had hair, I'd come here too! lol read more

I stumbled across Firicano's back when I lived in the North End about four years ago. Fast forward to today, and I still make the trek despite living in a completely different neighborhood. What more could you ask for from a barber? - Both Rich and Sal give consistently good haircuts. And if you've never had a hot shave, get one. Nothing like it. - There's no appointment necessary. - The place FEELS like an old school barber, only with the modern update of ESPN playing on flat screens. - The coffee, sambuca, and donuts are a nice touch. - $16 for a haircut? Can't beat that. I didn't even bat an eye when the price went up a few buck few years ago. My only issue with Firicano's is that it's cash only, but it's a minor thing. I'm beyond glad that I stumbled across this place! read more

I've been living in the North End for going on 4 years now. I've tried several of the barber shops in the neighbor hood. I've found them either to be too expensive or have a constant long wait. Firicano's is $16 for a cut ($20 bill with tip and you're all set). Sal (the bald guy) is a 3rd generation barber who is quick and efficient. Rich (the owner) also does a great job. You can gab with them a little bit, but if you just want to get a quality mens cut and get in and out, this is the place to go. You've got TV's on sports or news, great, recent magazines, and free coffee. The place is great and I'll never go to another North End Barber as long as I live in the area. read more

This is a man's barber shop, and it makes me wish I were a man. I took the bf there for his "fohawk," and damnit, they sure tried to fohawk that straight Asian hair of his. They tried really hard. He said it was one of the best haircuts of his life. read more

Awesome hot shave!! Never had one before and went with a 2-month scruffy beard. Lather, hot towel, great shave, cool towel - fast and super-smooth and only $12! No nicks or cuts. Closest shave I've ever had. Just perfect. And great barber shop atmosphere. I'll be back! My dad always used to get a hot shave when he could at the barber - now I know why! read more

Firicano's Barber Shop - Barbers Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

After moving to the neighborhood and trying out a number of barbers, Firicano's is hands down the best in the area. Rich and Mark both do a fantastic job. Always a good haircut, and they're great guys to talk to. Even with COVID this past year, they've managed to still offer an exceptional experience with a clean environment and booking service ahead of time. read more

Rich and Mark are two of the best barbers in Boston. They are precise, take exceptional pride in their trade, and make the shop a fun place to visit. I like it best when there is a bit of a wait, 'cause the sports talk and laughs are worth it. read more

Had a hot shave and beard trim there. I don't remember the barbers name , but he was the 3rd chair there. I came from CT. He took such time a great care. It was an unbelievable experience. I will be going back and will be bringing my son. Also I like the fact it was a union barbershop, me being a union member. read more

Best barber in Boston. Period! Rick is as professional as it gets, with so much attention to detail. Every time I go they do a perfect haircut. Prices are perfect as well. I've been going there for the past six years and I'm still impressed every time I go. The place is very old fashioned. TVs showing ESPN all the time. And Rick doesn't like to talk very much about anything else that is not football. In general the place is the best barber shop in Boston. ps. Cash Only read more

Just please do yourself a favor. When you go in, sit down, and observe the two guys working. One is diligently paying attention to what he's doing. The other is looking off into space and talking about his weekend. Go to the guy who looks like he's taking it seriously. I'm a grown man. I have never been asked to stand up, face the barber, so he can cut a straight line across my forehead because he said he left them uneven. Picture the worst regular-boys Supercuts can ever give you. Maybe I just caught him on a day in which he was really preoccupied. Because, honestly, the other guy is great. read more

Have been going for a few months. Usually get a skin fade. VERY fair prices. Richie and Timmy both do fantastic jobs!

If you like a classic all scissors cut firicano's is your place and mark is the man to see. He gives the best scissor cut i have gotten in the boston area. Also$18 for a cut what a value . I had been paying twice as much for cuts that were half as good . The warm lather shave to end the cut is classic . I love it . read more

Far and away the best barber shop in Boston (and strangely, at the best price outside of getting your hair chopped into clumps at the Blaine school). I travel 30+ minutes to get my hair cut here, and it is well worth it. read more

Just moved from dc/maryland area and needed to find barber. Got good cut and will go back next time.

OK, you may find it weird that I'm a chick writing a review on this place. Full disclosure: I don't get my hair cut here. But, I recently took my dad here to get his hair cut. It was his birthday and I didn't know what else to get him, so I got him a good haircut and a shave. He loved it. My mom keeps saying it's the best haircut he's ever gotten. So there you go. No chit chat from the barber, but the man knows how to cut hair and he doesn't over charge you. read more

It was quick. It was cheap. But I'm pretty sure he made a judgement as soon as he saw me, and the cut itself wasn't anything to write home about. For example, my sideburns are uneven for one....no worries, will fix it when I go home, but I'm def not making the trip back from Chinatown. If you're a typical north end dweller though, this is probably a good choice. read more

A nice little Barbershop - Rich (The owner) did a nice job on my latest cut - and I was in badly need of a good haircut, which I received. Prices are reasonable - and next time I hope to get a shave and hot towel to go along with my cut. I've only had a chance to pop in a couple of times, but I do hope to get in again when I need my next trim. Really like the place. read more

Have been living in the city for 3 years. Only place I will go to. Guaranteed good cut every time.

I just got a haircut the other day and it was great. I used to go to State Street Barbers in the South End, and this place was an easy transition. Despite no offerings of a beer nor a jack hammer back rub found at State Street, $14 for a legit cut and straight razor shave is a terrific value. Plus, a very nice little flat screen in between the chairs so you can just enjoy a little sportscenter throughout. read more

I've gone to this barbershop for 3 years and almost never got a haircut I wasn't satisfied with because the same two guys are always there. However, yesterday I went and there was a I sat down and said "2 on the sides and back and leave the top long, don't take too much off the top". My head now has basically the same length hair on the top and sides. He asked me what I thought and I told him he took too much off the top. He then said well I want you to come back so I'll give you this one for free. Really? Why would I go back? You had one job that I explicitly told you to do and completely failed. I paid him anyway and left. If you're going to get your haircut here wait and get the normal guy who has been there forever unless you want the wrong haircut. I now have a buzz cut thanks to the hack job I got by this guy. read more

Fantastic barber shop. The attention to detail from Rich was amazing. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean, seamless cut. Thanks again Rich. read more

This is my favorite barber shop that I've ever been to. These guys are true pros and give a great cut at a good price. It's definitely got that "local barbershop" feel with only two chairs and most patrons seeming to know the barbers on a first name basis, but I've felt super welcome as a newcomer and the guys are happy to let you enjoy your haircut in peace without the awkward small talk if that's what you're into. read more

Guys, you know you hear about how women love mani petties... well I think the straight edge shave is the man's version of the mani petti. I have had less than 5 barbers give me a straight edge shave in 34 years and Rich has been doing it for the past 10 years for me. Hot towel, massaging in the shaving cream and a steady hand. I leave there felling and looking great. Also a great precursor for an afternoon nap as I always leave feeling relaxed. Now if they could offer a couple of cold ones to pass the time when you are waiting... read more

I was really expecting a great haircut for my son based on the reviews i read.We just moved here so trying to find him a regular barber. He has really good hair and wears it slicked back. I was going to take him to state street barber's but went here instead. Hubby and i agreed it wasn't a good cut. Barber was professional and polite, cut was reasonably priced at $16 bucks. Really wanted this to be his barber shop but alas we will keep looking. read more

These guys cut a mean head of hair, but it's the little extra touches that make it primo. The shaving products they use are great. I had my first straight razor shave today, which was a nice "bro" version of a facial. If there's a line, don't worry because they work fast. Remember to bring cash. Haircuts are $16 and shaves are $12. read more

Walked in, shave, wash and a haircut. Great service and out the door for $21!! Friendly service and treated me like a local. It's a small town feel in the middle of a bustling city. His attention to detail was top notch. He even allowed my dog to come in out of the heat! read more
