Cons: - Doesn't go anywhere anybody really wants to go. Which explains why nobody is ever on it. It's basically just a bus for the folks who live in the steep part of Noe Valley. - Doesn't run frequently enough. Pros: - Never anybody crazy on it, runs mostly on schedule. - Clean. Because it's not as well trafficked as other routes. - Bus drivers tend to be nicer. Because they don't have to deal with the crazy of the other routes. The buses are like nice tour buses, there is free wi-fi, theres a light above your seat, the seat reclines, the drivers are always nice and friendly. Here are my top reasons for riding the transbay whenver possible: 1. plenty of room- not only do I get my own seat, but I can stretch my toes and take the seat next to me usually since the bus is never full 2. Clean- I don't see the beautiful "art" that often plagues MUNI or the trash that fills BART 3. free wireless Internet- I get to surf the Internet and fall asleep doing it with two seats 4. friendlier bus drivers- no cranky folks- since they have a limited # of stops to stop at, they tend to be in better spirits. 5. Quite often cheaper than BART 1 way. $4 one way. Now if you live in Fremont and take the transbay, that is a steal! Get their monthly transbay pass and save over half your BART commute bill! 6. Love the translink card. Just press and I'm in. No need for change or bills. 7. On Time- With the advent of cell phones, no one is ever on time. You can, however, count on these buses to be on time and to leave on time! (literally....) 8. Comfy seats- they recline! oh yes! there is a reading light! yes! now they just need to put in "mood" lighting and they can be a road version of Virgin Airlines

I have passed by the old street sign leading to this ramp so many times coming through the Park…read moreeastbound on Oak Street, and never really thought twice about its potential utility as a circulation route...until today, when Jill and I were driving back from the non-existent Yelp lunch that never happened in lieu of the Yelp potluck that never happened. This little mini highway-style cloverleaf ramp is so helpful in getting you onto Stanyan and on your way toward the Geary/USF/Laurel Village areas from the Irving and 7th/UCSF/Parnassus area. Previously, if I needed to traverse this route, I would probably have turned right, southbound onto Stanyan from eastbound Oak, and then turned in at Page and made a u-turn to come back northbound on Stanyan. But never again!!!!! Try it out sometime, its fun! (I have a lot of time on my hands.)

I try to do a holiday home tour every December. There were five houses on the tour and they all…read morewere unique. Surprisingly, the houses were not over decorated. I enjoyed just seeing homes that I suspect I will never normally visit, let alone live in. I wasn't inspired by the holiday decorations. However, I now wish I could gut my house and do a complete remodel. This was the first time I've been on tour in this area I normally do the one in Alameda. I would go on this tour again next year. What was nice about this tour is that they have it on two days. They also have a garden tour in the spring. I will be on the lookout for that tour so I can imagine myself sitting in the perfect garden with a friend and sipping wine with everything in bloom and not one weed in sight. The money they raise from both tours is used for scholarships for women and girls.

The first home in the tour was the best decorated and the least decorated was the last home in the tour. One room in my fave house had a glasscase full of about 200 of the most beautiful Barbies I've ever seen. If you want to see how the lifestyles of the rich and famous is, go on this tour! It takes about four hours to tour the five homes and at the last home, lucious snacks were served. Each year the tour has different homes in it. I want to go on their garden home tour in May. It's not possible! Folks, it simply doesn't get better than the 1BX if you can take advantage of this glorious route that starts in Laurel Heights and extends to the Embarcadero every weekday. Perhaps I'm one of the lucky ones, because when I'm picked up at the Fillmore/California stop, this bus line literally doesn't have another stop until it comes to rest about 1/4 mile away from the front door of my office. It's as though the public transportation brass devised a way to get me from Point-A to Point-B in the fastest, most efficient way possible, and to those at the helm of this operation, I salute you. Like most San Franciscans, I have a love/hate relationship with MUNI, and this is best exemplified…read moreby the 1BX line. Inbound: I get on at California and Fillmore, which is the last stop before the FiDi, and find that 7 am - 7:30 am is the optimal time to hop on. If, however, you get on after Divisadero and after 8 am, hope that the person next to you smells nice since you will practically be hugging them for the rest of the ride (on the bright side though, it only takes about 10 minutes from Fillmore and California to Bush and Sansome). But that's IF you get on to begin with. More often than not, the driver will not stop at Cal/Fillmore, OR, will open front doors only, allowing a few lucky people to cram in. Next Muini is pretty accurate though early in the morning: if the bus in front of you is packed like a sardine tin, and the next bus is "arriving" in 4 minutes, just wait. It will likely not be crowded. Outbound: "Patience is a virtue." Repeat as necessary. Arrival is unpredictable and NextMuni is useless. The bus gets super crowded. I'd rather take this line to Pac Heights than the 1, 2 or the 3 though since I won't have to play the "how many stops can we blow through without stopping" game.
