Went in person, ordered tires for delivery to the shop for installation the next day. Only 2 tires showed up, so we had to postpone a day. Went in the second day for a 12:00 appointment and was told they would need my car for 1.5-2 hours tops for the tire replacement. At the two hour mark I went outside and sat on the curb to get a good look into the car bays/staff. They had 5 employees on the clock and not one of them had a tool in their hand, not one of them was doing anything other than telling jokes with one another. I stand on business: when I tell someone I'm gonna do something I do just that. I expect the same in return. I cancelled my order and had them bring my car around out of principal. Don't go here- the location further south on York road is much better and has much better staff. read more

I called five different Firestone locations to try and find my tire and this place was hands down the least helpful. Don't waste your time with such a low rated establishment. The lady was pleasant enough but made it quite clear she couldn't care less and would put no effort into helping me or scheduling anything for me. I took my car in for an oil change, tire rotation, and alignment. It is a 2008 sedan with ~145k miles so it certainly isn't perfect and it had an issue with the oil valve cover gasket in the past that required a replacement. Also, I had forgotten to take it in during my Jan/Feb normally scheduled time for an oil change, so I was way behind. On the Firestone service logs, you can see I bring this car in every 4k-5k miles for an oil change. I dropped off the car at 8:30am for a 9am appointment and was told it would be completed by 10:30am. At 11:47am I received a call from the service advisor, John, telling me they couldn't do the work. They let me know that whoever did the last oil change cross-threaded the oil drain plug. When I informed him that they last did the oil change he didn't believe me and he asked me to come in to show me how I also have an oil leak. Since I had to walk, I arrived around 12:45pm. John showed me areas that indicated, at best case, a previous oil leak (the valve cover gasket) and, at worst case, a new oil leak from the oil pan gasket and oil rear seal. I asked him what had to be done and to give me a quote. But he would not give me a quote and told me to take it somewhere else. His main point was that he was absolutely sure that I had gotten my oil changed since I was last there and that there was no way I went ~7k miles before coming in for an oil change. When I objected, and told him to look at his logs that you can see my history of coming in at ~4k miles and that I had just missed it on my schedule, he still didn't believe me because he saw I had the valve cover gasket replaced and a front axle bushing replaced and it was done by someone else. This was true, because when this issue came up, I had to drive to another state for a few weeks (death in the family), so I had the work done in that state. He continued to object and still maintained his position even though I had been to Firestone for an O2 sensor replacement between oil changes as well. He told me they would do the oil change but this will be my last oil change they will do on this car. He also told me it would take about an hour. I waited 2 hours to ask the status of my car. He told me they were "wrapping it up." It took another 1.5 hours for them to "wrap it up." But the reality is I saw my car mainly just sitting there after the oil change on the rack without anyone doing work. John, was on a computer at the front of the lobby. There were only 1 other customer in that lobby for about 1.5 of my 3.5 hours sitting there. But John was mainly sitting at a computer that entire time. Obviously, I am unsure of what he was doing (surfing the internet?), but he never talked to me, never gave me an update, and barely moved. So, John was right. This is my last oil change on that car with Firestone. It's also the last time I'll have work done at Firestone. I used to have service done there and buy tires. Not anymore. Not just for this car, but for my other car and when my kid drives in a few years, they won't touch that car either. I can't comprehend this business model - call your customer a liar, refuse to give them quotes for work that has to be done, complain about the work that was done on it until you find out you did the work then pretend that it's the customers fault and problem. Then don't actually do the work on the car while the customer is sitting there so you can force them to wait and miss work. Really, this all happened. Really disappointed here. I've been bringing my three vehicles here for years, always with quick and professional service that I trusted. I recently took one in for a simple oil change and then I left on vacation, only to return to a messy garage. The oil inside my car was now completely outside my car and all over my garage. I called and told Kenya what happened. I then put more oil in and returned to Firestone so they could fix the problem. They told me the oil plug was stripped and wanted $500 to fix it. I said it was a result of them changing the oil. Kenya said I was trying to blame them. ????? Uh, yea. I had to borrow a vehicle for two weeks and ask for rides until I found a mechanic to fix their mistake. How difficult is it to just admit fault and offer to make something right? The absolute worst place ever!! Made an appointment to get my AC checked.. they called me and asked me to bring it in early.. which I did. I sat for an hour and a half and they still hadn't even looked at my car. I said I would leave it and they could call me. An hour later I receive a call and a quote I said ok.. I guess I have to do it. I promptly hung up and started calling multiple places to see if this was a fair price. I was told NO! Over charge by about $110 dollars. I called back and said.. don't do it!! I was then told that the quote I was given was short by $55. I said that was insane!!! That I felt like they were trying to hustle me. Miraculously the price came down nearly $90 from the second quote. At this point I'm exhausted and just want my AC repaired (it was blowing cool.. just not cold on a 95 degree day) ...an hour and 20 minutes later I receive a call that there is a problem with their Freon machine. I am told this is an error code they have never seen before... (mind you this call was received 35min after they saw it) now on my way to pick up a car after spending $40 in Uber rides and having my car sit there for 4 plus hours and it still isn't fixed!! This place is shady AF!! Avoid at all cost!! ZERO stars!!! It forced me to give a Star to post this about this despicable place! I made an appointment early in the week for Saturday at 9am. I told them over the phone what was wrong with my car. I have a scanner. When I dropped my car off I told them what was wrong with my car. After almost 6 hours they called and said they couldn't fix and I had to take it to the dealer. This is for an evap canister and coolant temperature sensor. I'm pretty sure I don't have to take it to the dealer for that. When I questioned the manager David lynch about why they didn't tell me this when they had two opportunities to do so that I wouldn't have wasted my Saturday he changed his reason and said it would be very expensive to fix and I'd have to leave for a few days so they can get the parts. I can get those parts at an auto parts store and for under $50. The best part is I had to pay $107 for them to tell what I already knew what was wrong with the car. Terrible experience. The manager could have easily have chosen not to charge me and while I would've been upset about my time getting wasted at least it wouldn't cost me money to do so. Update: I fixed it all myself. This is not the place to go for an oil change. I had a 5pm appointment, and the car didn't even get in to the service bay for 45 minutes. Then they had a problem not having the filter they needed, so that took a while. The oil change ended at 7pm. $70 for an oil change and rotation. read more

I guess I was feeling generous the last time I reviewed this place. It's the same story over and over here. Unneccessary add-ons, mis-diagnosis, and absolute ignorance that these problems persist. After 2 sets of tires that mysteriously wore down at the speed of light (less than 25K each set), Firestone recommended slapping yet another new set on there. Needless to say I took my car to another shop (yet again) only to find that there was a more serious underlying issue in my wheels that caused the tire problem. Not only would I have continued to burn through tires but apparently I also ran the risk of one of my wheels falling off (how fun would that have been on the Jersey Turnpike or somewhere like it). With the right diagnosis I was able to get back on the road, the car drives like a dream, and I should have this current set of tires for a long while. Second issue was replacement of a gasket (valve cover for those interested in the minutia). This also was done at the other garage (see review of Bob Bell Ford if you're looking for a new shop). However, I wanted to make use of the free alignment I had earned at Firestone so went back after the tire fiasco for an alignment. At this time they told me I was leaking oil, which I'm pretty sure wasn't true since I had just had all that mess replaced too. So, there you have it. One more missed problem and one more attempt at repairs not needed. I think that this relationship is over. I caution you to avoid ever starting it. read more

I was recommended to this place by a friend. Despite a VERY busy day, they made EVERY effort to fit me in and make my situation work. As a single mom with a toddler, we arrived during her "almost" nap time. I told the technicians of this and they were super helpful. I already KNEW what I needed (new battery and new tires--they brought out delivery menus and less than 20 minutes later, my daughter had a perfect grilled cheese sandwich. I was there for about 2.5 hours. I called ahead because we knew what we needed most (new battery) and I knew three of my tires were in rough shape. I took an auto shop class in high school (per my father's orders), so it's pretty hard for me to get "taken" by any mechanic. These gentlemen didn't ATTEMPT to take me. They told me their recommendations and allowed me time to review them. I asked questions and felt like I had an informed review. My only recommendation for this store is some kid toys. My daughter enjoyed putting some of her goldfish into a floor safe. But why not installing a goldfish tank? For guys, this is RIGHT NEXT to a Best Buy store. If you are bored, you can head over there. I suppose my daughter and I could have gone to the nearby Petco. Still, great service and decent prices are what I care most about. When I left the store, my car felt "super-charged." I had a squealing belt that I DIDN'T EVEN MENTION and yet, it WAS FIXED when I left! I decided to take a city tour to help my baby sleep. Every mile I drove my car, my car drove BETTER!!! I really don't know everything they did to my car, but if you've ever seen that scene from "The Wizard of Oz," I feel like they gave us the Dorothy Makeover! I don't understand the bad reviews, these guys ruled! And they made my life BETTER. I am so happy I visited this place. I was 9.9 miles from my house, but worth every mile. Dont be surprised if they try to add items to your car. All chain stores are required to sell more. I know first hand its part of the training. Plus the service writter get commision from all orders as does the manager. The tech usally gets paid by the hour. Always only pay for what you ask for not what they add. IE..cabin filter,wipers,light bulbs,fluid changes go to the internet and do yourself. It is easy or a trusted mechanic.This is not just firestone they do it for the monthly bonus money. read more

OIL Change here nearly killed my engine. Went in on a Tues (my usual off day from work). Paid for oil/filter change and went on thinking all is good and i got some preventative maintenance/other errands done. One thing they recommended when i left was having a new battery installed. Well, 3 days later, i get off work earlier than usual (3pm), so i went to the nearby Firestone near Golden Ring and asked them to install the recommended battery. THIS IS WHEN THE MGR says "i need to speak with you." Sir, have you an oil change recently? I SAY, yes 3 days ago at the Firestone in Lutherville, Md. He proceeded to tell me that my oil cap (on top of engine) was missing and that oil has been spewing all over my engine area. Beneath the hood was a f'ng mess, IT WAS 3 DAYS DRIVING AROUND TOWN...NO CAP BECAUSE THE MECHANIC/TECH CAN'T DO HIS JOB RIGHT. It was only by sheer luck i got off that day and went for a new battery only 3 days later from the day i got my oil changed. Car could have been ruined if i had waited. BOTTOMLINE: Mgr doesn't care/did nothing for me....and you risk the techs killing your vehicle. I dont even want to give this place 1 STAR....dont deserve it. * The mgr at the Golden Ring Firestone was fantastic.....Mgr Wallace at Lutherville should go kill himself. These guys are my new go-to for basic car maintenance. A couple days ago I went here for an oil change and tire rotation (which they do for free - bonus) and asked to have an alignment check because we all know how terrible Baltimore roads are. They got the work done in about an hour and a half and printed me out a report showing what my cars alignment was like. It was pretty rough and the man I spoke with said an alignment would be a good idea, I decided to take the paper with me and think on it/get more opinions on how necessary it was. I decided to get one done before driving to North Carolina for Thanksgiving because my tires are new(ish) and I didn't want them to wear down from the long drive and bad alignment. I went today, they had me out in a little over an hour - my car feels amazing and handles exactly like it did when I first bought it! Went in to get my brakes fixed/replaced (rotors and brake pads) on '03 Lancer. Repairs took about 2 hours. They charged me the EXACT amount they quoted me over the phone and did not try to add on extra anything which was INCREDIBLY REFRESHING. I was pleased with the repairs, service and no bs. I went around the corner to Dominick's and got a steak and cheese while I waited and it was the greatest sub I've ever had do that also put me in a good mood:) I will definitely be back and would recommend this shop to friends. This was an unusual tire experience - some good, some bad and some ugly. I called around for tires that I had researched on the web (Ecopia 422 by Bridgestone) and found the best price at Firestone - along with a $140 rebate card from AMEX for setting up a Firestone charge card. I ordered the tires over the phone on a Thursday and said I'd be in on Sunday to have the tires changed. Unfortunately there was a mix-up and they sold my tires to someone else -luckily I called before I went to the store for service. So they ordered me another set which was delivered on Monday and I told them to hold them for a Tuesday installation. Anyway I went to the store and the tires were there, my son qualified for the credit card and I wheeled and dealed for some other services. They showed me the air filter and yes it was dirty so I called Honda to make sure it had never been replaced (it had not) and they also met the NW Honda price of $40 (versus the $49 they quoted me). They also said the wheels needed alignment and they met the $79 price of Mr. Tire (versus the $89 they quoted me). In order to maintain the warranty from Bridgestone, I had to have an alignment. So the bottom line is I saved $100 on the tire price. The air filter (which was 2 years old and needed changing) and the alignment totaling $120 was free because of the $140 Bridgestone rebate. And there is still $20 left over for gasoline and my son has 6 months interest free to pay off the balance. I think that the service there is decent but the consumer must be proactive when dealing with this site and their need for generating revenue. They also advised me that the tires were not ready for replacement which was odd considering NW Honda said that 70% of the tread was gone (the orange tread wear guides were exposed) and the ride was harsh and loud. When I drove the car away I noticed the ride being totally different. This is not my car so I rarely drive it but I can say that changing the tires was just what the tire doctor ordered for this Honda Civic. read more

BE CAREFUL!!! They failed the wife test. My wife had to get a nail out of her tire, ended up with 2 new tires instead. Keep in mind- these are tires there were less than 2 years old FROM FIRESTONE, in great shape. They claimed sidewall puncture in one, the other-- "old and worn." Sorry, guys-- if it's old and worn, it was a relatively young tire from YOUR COMPANY!!! And my wife puts less than 3000 miles PER YEAR on her car. Sidewall puncture-- well, it was in the tread, close to the side-- could have been crooked and drilled into sidewall...could have.....it is possible...I have no evidence to say they were wrong...... The one in Towson on York Road, across from Drumcastle, has always been honest with us; they always tried to upsale some maintenance a bit, but nothing drastic. In fact, we were long-term loyal customers-- but we changed offfices and they are no longer close enough to be practical. This was BLATANT. The second tire still had a good, thick 1/2 inch of tread on it. Evenly worn. Wish my wife had called me before agreeing to have them replaced! One positive note: I called and spoke with manager, who agreed to take away the price of the extra tire. He revised his statement, "we only recommended to your wife we replace both tires to even the wear...." hmmm.....well, hopefully that charge will really be taken off!! read more

I was there for a flat tire. They told me to fix, they need to change 4 of the tires, even all the tires are only one year old. I was very surprised, then manager came and with technical terms he explained that they have to change 4 of the tires because it is a all wheel SUV. Cost was $900+. To get a second opinion I took my car to GoodYear on York Road in Lutherville. I was told that, they have to change only 2 of the tires to keep the balance and cost was $600+. As a last alternative I took car to Lexus dealer in Towson. They fix the tire FREE. Month later same tire had a problem. This time, I went straight to the Lexus dealer in Towson, they changed only one tire (even I told them, if they realized that it is a all wheel SUV) and the cost is $218. All the years, I thought dealer is the most expensive, I was wrong. Now i am thinking about the times I trust FIRESTONE, and the amount I paid. God knows, how many time they broke my Trust. i will never go FIRESTONE again. Friends, next time, when you go to Firestone or GoodYear, think twice and make sure you get a second and third opinion for an expensive estimate. read more

There were LONG waits everywhere I went. This place said 2 hours as well but after seeing me and the five kids they made things happen.
