I come here often to get my car serviced as they have generous hours. I can get an appointment in on the weekends and not have my work get interrupted during the week. The placement of this location is convenient because when I have a wait ahead of me with my car I can go over to the mall and window shop to kill time and maybe grab a bite to eat. So coming here is something I will continue doing. But I have also had challenges in the past. Like calling their number to make an appointment. If nobody is available at the actual shop then it goes to a call center for me to make an appointment. There isn't anything wrong with that per se but the appointments I make at this call center almost are always time slots that the actual store can't commit to. So sometimes I get emails or a call from the store needing to reschedule. So that in of itself is a real hassle. But I have learned to avoid this and I just go to the store to make the appointment. So it's a good thing this store isn't too far out of my way from my usual routine travel routes to go to work and do errands. Other than that I have been satisfied with the work done here. read more

Dont waste your time go somewhere else. Took truck in for an alignment and when it came out one of my tires was bent inward when I brought this up they said it's normal and safe to drive. Got a second opinion and the upper control arm was missing bolts and damaged. Just this month took a separate car in to have a grinding sound and smaller repairs addressed. Complete scam and a waste of time too. Bring your car anywhere else. I'll start with the biggest issue I had here: they quoted me $800 to fix a problem that, when I took my car to another shop for a second opinion, didn't exist at all. Which means either they were hoping to flat out steal that money from me, or they were too incompetent to do their due diligence and correctly diagnose the problem. Neither is good. I was told they couldn't do a simple oil change because the oil pan was stripped and couldn't be opened, and so would need to be replaced entirely. A $700-800 operation. I drove around for days not getting a much needed oil change, risking damaging the car, because I couldn't afford the fix they recommended. When I brought it to another shop for repairs, they were able to do the oil change no problem. Secondly, this place is astonishingly understaffed, and they apparently have no process for setting and keeping timely appointments. I waited 6 hours for my car (which was completely incorrectly diagnosed, remember!) after an estimate of 3 hours. Truly I have never had a worse experience with auto repair, and that's saying something. read more

I have a 2000 Toyota Solara SLE. She has over 325000 miles. This car is my baby and only began needing repairs in the last two years. I had my tie rods done which led to me needing an alignment (also replaced the front tires). I made the HUGE mistake of taking her to Les Schwab in Bremerton. Let's just say I took her there THREE times, and their final result was to tell me that they could not get my girl in spec because she was too old. I'm 64. Did you say too old? Firestone fixed it in ONE. Fully in spec and they even offered me a lifetime alignment. I was literally in tears, I was so relieved and happy. This is my baby, as I said. Shady business here, came in for TPMS sensor swaps and drove off with tire alert on. Service advisor said tire alert will go away after driving 20 miles. I called and they say just needs a reset, I go back next day for reset and now there are 2 bad sensors. Okay so no problem on my old tires and now they stop working. I'm pretty sure they were damaged and now being charged for new sensors and they are waiving the labor hmm. read more

I have never been so disappointed, sad and angry as I was by Firestone. I had an alert pop up on my car that one of my tires was way down on air and I drove straight to firestone as I was leaving for a road trip and let the representative know this. They stated they found a nail in the back tire that indicted on alert and charged me $33 I asked clearly did you check all the tires and the response was yes. Never showed me a nail. I have my car loaded and on WA-18 and alert comes back on the tire is flat, it's the front right tire which ends up being the tire that was bad to begin with. I am on the side of the road with my crying granddaughter and my son who has to have back surgery this month. Road side assistant can not be there for 60 min and firestone said if you get it to a firestone we will fix it. We get the spare on and make it to Les Schwab and they were so kind and checked all my tired by dunking in bath, fixed the flat tire and made sure the sensors were programed right and did not charge me. Firestone had no problem giving me a $1100 quote for tires as my tires are at 50% maybe you should have been more concerned about your customers safety. read more

I made an appointment 4 days ahead, brought my car in an hour before the appointment and here I am 2 hours after the appointment still waiting on my car. I realize business are short handed which is why I made an appointment. I have been up since 4:30am it is now 5pm and I have to go back to work in 4.5 hours. I was really hoping that I would be able to get a nap. My industry is short handed too which is why I'm working 12-16 hour days with very little sleep. The front desk guy was great, but I'm at a loss for what happened today. In short, I feel like they refused to work on my car because the technician probably thought "this car sucks, I'm not working on it." I brought my (very old, very crappy) tracker in today for a brake flush, knowing that it had been missing the brake fluid cap for who knows how long (meaning moisture in the lines) because I recently bought it as a project from an inattentive owner. They knew this when they took it in and I told them that was exactly why I was there - however they kept the car for something like 6-7 hours and did nothing to it, and ended up refusing to service it. Their reasoning, if I understand correctly, is that because they recommend an entire brake system upgrade, they won't do anything to it. Not even a flush. What?? I understood at first but now that I'm thinking about it I'm very annoyed. Why would you refuse a flush just because someone needs new calipers? The flush is still relevant. The flush is the first thing that should be done with the moisture in the lines. They suggested new calipers and pads (which were measured to need replacing, ok that makes sense) and new lines (they didn't confirm these needed replacing, but they are recommending it anyways, so alrighty then). And because of this refused to flush it. .. I went in well aware that it likely needs these parts but still aware that the first thing it needs is a brake flush. So I left disappointed, and the more I think about it, I can't figure out.... who cares if I need new calipers? I am aware of that. I can sign off on that. I'm not about to blame the shop for my calipers still sucking on a 200k mike car after getting a brake flush. I'm not an idiot expecting miracles, I just want to get the moisture out of the lines in this weather. Literally, you can't connect a hose and turn a couple of bolts because there is other work to be done? I am irritated because I spent all day waiting on my car when I could have been doing it myself, and none of this seems like a good reason to refuse service, or to keep a car literally all day. If it helps to justify it, they said they'll also refuse oil changes if they see a car is leaking etc, but I've never heard of that. So you're telling me you only work on brand new cars? read more

This business is interesting. When you call to make an appointment, that doesn't happen. You think you have one, and you show up at your agreed upon time, your car is added but the person that treated you so badly on the phone did NOT schedule you but, they agree to do the oil change so, you go walk the mall for an hour and come back and find your car in the same EXACT place. Why, you wonder to yourself... because, they skipped over your car and treated you as a walk in. Even though you had an appointment. Your time is not respected, your vehicle is not respected, and worse you are not respected. I pay less at Acura, and they treat me better. They value me and they value my time. read more

Very bad customer service. I have a fleet truck through Donlen. Been here twice and took over 3 hours for a scheduled oil change both times. Firestone blames Donlen for the wait. After tracking the progress, it took Firestone 3 hours to do an oil change. Also didn't vacuum or clean the truck at all. Customer service at this Firestone is unmatched!!! I came in to get oil change, brake inspection and headlight replaced. They were booked solid for the rest of the evening, 90 minutes before closing. I was very concerned about driving with a burned out headlight. Who needs a ticket for that, right? Well, that wasn't a concern for me tonight. Robert, who was working the front counter, made arrangements for one of the crew to pop in that replacement bulb in no time and I was on my way. I brought my car in for a full inspection to find out if there were any problems prior to the sale. They found a small coolant leak and a part that needed replaced. They said it was an immediate need and would be about $460. I took it to another mechanic who did the same work and a flush for $170. Not only that, but I had mentioned a weird noise. They marked the Struts as being in good condition. Unfortunately they had come undone from the frame and was causing the noise. I actually sold the car, the new owner had it repaired and I paid them back. I called Firestone to explain what happened and ask for my money back. They informed me that the full inspection would not verify things like that. Anyway, I got no money back and I don't plan to go back to Firestone again with high prices and a mediocre inspection. I received services from the Tacoma Mall Firestone location. I brought my car in because it would not start. They claimed to fix a few things and gave me an oil change. I was told that the car would start but would not stay on. Unfortunately, the Technicians were unable to fix the problem. When I went to start the car, it would not start. I had my car towed to another shop in hopes they could fix the problem. The next shop was able to ascertain that whoever worked on the car previously (Firestone) had not done some of the work they claimed. The car shop took pictures and recorded a video with commentary about the issues left from the previous shop. There was half of the gasket missing, a large water leak, dried coolant from the leak, bolts left underneath the starter, and items left unplugged. There were even tools left inside the engine. This seems very unprofessional and hopefully not representative of the work Firestone performs. However, I was charged over$1,500 for poor work quality that was unfinished. I was disheartened as I listened to the Technician explain to me that I had been taken advantage of. It is probably of little consequence, but I will not be returning. read more

Yesterday I had the unfortunate luck of getting a flat tire near the mall. I had a friend come put my spare on and I gave Firestone a call. First off I have to say that the man who answered the phone was the most chipper and happy guy ever. He told me they were backed up, and it may take a few hours but you would never turn me away. Upon arrival, he came straight out and took my tire out of the trunk and had it disassembled. He showed me where the damage was, and explained my options. I ended up purchasing two quality tires for a reasonable price. Both gentleman working in the shop were incredibly nice, and had great attitudes. My car had full-synthetic oil, they changed back to standard, when I went back to ask them change it back to full- synthetic. Scheduled an appointment for an alignment on my car for Friday at 2PM. I dropped it off with no issues. 4 hours passed with no callback from then so I decided to call to check on the status and they called to tell me they could not get my car on the alignment rack because it was too low. I don't know why they didn't call me to tell me that, and that I had to call. I picked my car up to a few issues. First of which, was it was completely unlocked. The battery was completely dead, and somebody in the shop opened my hood as it wasn't shut all the way. All I had scheduled was a wheel alignment. I have a company pickup truck (2018 Chevy Colorado) that was due for a 20,000 mile oil change. The Company that I work for has partnered with a company called ARI and because of that we have few choices in where we can take our rigs for service. On 11/10/19 I stopped by the Firestone located at 4502 South Steele Street in Tacoma, Washington and arranged to have an appointment for an oil change on my work truck on the date of 11/16/19 at 1:00 pm. On Saturday the 16th I dropped the truck off at the store around 11:00 am. I signed the forms and specifically gave the gentleman helping me my full contact phone number. The store contacted me around 1:45 pm and told me that they were done and that I could pick the truck up any time. My wife and I arrived at about 2:30 pm and I got the keys back for the truck. My wife left and I hopped in the truck to head directly back home.... I made it one block when the truck suddenly went to very low power and an alarm signal generated from the dashboard. On the screen of the dash an error popped up that stated, "Low Power Mode" Then the engine died, leaving me stranded in the middle of a very busy intersection in front of the Tacoma Mall entrance. I was able to get the truck into neutral and push it 20 feet into the actual mall entrance. I set the parking brake and flashers and then tried to re-start the truck. The engine would not start. This is a 2018 pickup truck with just 20K miles on it. It ran perfectly fine before the oil change. I locked the truck and walked back to the Firestone store. When I arrived, I explained what happened and this is where I got offended. There was a lady there who made the decision to hand me a business card. On it she wrote the phone number for a local towing company. She instructed me to call the number and wait by the vehicle for the tow truck. The card has the name of a Sara Carey /Store Manager. I do not really know if I was dealing with Sara or not as she didn't introducer herself. This person had very short hair with the sides shaved and arms with visible tattoos. She was abrasive, hostile, and of very little help. The phone number she gave me was 474-0511. No prefix, so I had to guess. I went back down to the truck, called my wife for back up, and then proceeded to call Lakewood Towing. I spoke with a dispatcher, and she told me to sit tight. About ten minutes later a guy named Mike called me to confirm location. He told me he was 15 to 20 minutes away... It began to rain, hard. Then mall security showed up and started to give me a hard time. People were honking at me, Security was pushing me to get it moved, I was getting cold and wet.... Not one person from the Firestone store bothered to walk the one block to come and see how it was going. Mike showed up and towed the truck the one block back to Firestone. I asked the people at the front desk what the plan was? They told me that they would dive into it when they had a chance. I informed them that I needed to be at work the next morning and needed the truck. I asked them what time they close in the evening and they told me 6:00 pm. By this point I had wasted nearly 90 minutes dealing with this and it was nearly 4:00 pm. I asked them if they could get it fixed before 6:00? My wife and I departed and went home. At 5:30 I still had not heard anything from Firestone. Knowing that it would take 15 minutes to get there I called them in the off chance they had good news. I spoke with the same guy that was helping to maintain the front desk and he told me he was glad I called because they had fixed the issue within 5 minutes of my departure at 4:00 pm and that he didn't have my phone number.... He called me at 1:45 pm to tell me my truck was ready.... It turns out that the technician that performed the work, failed to put the cover on the air intake properly which triggered a sensor with the throttle body. I was able to get the truck by 6:00 pm and home in time to pack it for work the next day. I do not mean to be rude, but in all honesty, that was the last time I do business with Firestone. I have given a written copy of this to people in charge of our fleet, I have shared this with my friends, and I intend to share this on yelp as well. I realize that mistakes happen, I get that, and I make plenty of mistakes as well. What truly bothers me is the absolute lack of caring or help extended by the staff at Firestone for my trouble. No one checked on me, no one took any sort of responsibility, not even a "Here's freebie oil change for next time," In my opinion that speaks volumes about the character of the company in whole. As a consumer I have many choices and as a consumer with multiple personal vehicles, I will choose to go to a company that takes responsibility and shows compassion for their customers both present and future. read more

Came in sunday for puncture and guy said i needed new tires. So guy was trying to sell me tires (bridgestone 422). I was kind of weary of the guy since he knew i needed tires and sunday most tire shops are closed. So i left and did research among its local competitors and found that he was selling mediocore tires at 50$ over its competitors. Also added other things i didnt needed. Overall with his overcharging of tires and fees he was charging about $400 over discount tire. Just because i wanted to get tires that day. Great prices they are several hundred dollars cheaper than anything in gig harbor or port orchard and they are open on Sunday. They also had the tires we needed in stock everyone else had to order them and we were looking at 3-7 days for new tires. We stopped in last minute to replace a popped tire, and even though we didn't have an appointment they fit us in the schedule so that we wouldn't have to wait another day for the repair. I've needed to come to this establishment for my minor service needs for the last four years. The work has never been stellar, but I'm a busy working mom so I made it work. I needed an oil change. I called yesterday and was told that if I should up today at 9am it was likely I could be fit in. i showed up today at 9am to be quickly told there was absolutely no way. Let me unpack why that was the wrong decision. I don't care if I spoke to the most dense member of the team yesterday and he steered my incorrectly - he told me to come in and that should've been honored. Not on Wednesday but TODAY. I understand that every industry is under certain constraints right now - but so are your customers and treating them like the time and money they spend to patron your business doesn't matter is always a bad decision. Especially, because there were two men (seemingly employed there) who weren't servicing any car and could have changed my oil right then. Though this Firestone was always easiest for me to get to, I'll now establish car care somewhere else that honors my time and money.
