We took our Honda Pilot in with a low tire. The employees in the garage were singing and dancing. I loved it! It was great to see the guys enjoying life while they worked! Honestly, this place is usually a gong show with something inevitably becoming confused. Good news is they get or can order unique high-performance tires for installation. Bad news is something always gets messed up. Either the appt takes way longer then it was supposed to, they are tires that are slightly different than original equipment, or the install is somehow botched. I have had all these things happen at this location. One might ask why I have bought five sets of tires from these people, simple answer: they are only blocked from my office. read more

I've been a Discount Tire loyalist for as long as I can remember. It was my first time at this location for what should have been a quick repair. I was met with high pressure tactics under the guise of "safety" that smelled of a staff that couldn't hack it at the used car lot. I ended up taking my keys off the counter and walking away after the sales manager said something to the effect of "it's not fair to me". This after multiple attempts to mislead me and being called on it. They failed to realize that they had my business based on every other discount interaction and lost it on their own accord. Unfortunately, after they wasted my time, I'll probably just drive to a discount further away for all of my vehicles from here forward. read more

I went to the Discount Tire store near my home this morning to have them repair a slow leak in my tire. I was assisted by Austin. He looked at the tire and found the issue. He inspected my other tires and found the right front tire had excess wear on the edge. He was concerned about it. We had further discussion inside the store. Austin told me I needed to replace my tires. I expressed my desire to have my mechanic look at the excess wear before replacing the tire. I tried to explain to Austin, that because of the wear pattern, the age of the car and my mechanics long term experience with the car it would be good to have him review the wear pattern. Austin questioned my mechanics ability to diagnose the problem and that he was worried about my driving the car further. I noted his concern, but reassured him my mechanic was nearby and I didn't feel worry was warranted. Austin appeared to get quite agitated and hostile. He told me right out that he thought I did not intend to buy tires right away from Discount Tire today. I replied we hadn't got to that point of our discussion yet. That seems to have displease him even more. At this point, I told Austin that we were done and I would be taking my business elsewhere. Austin was quite disrespectful of my concerns, rude and abrupt. I subsequently discussed the issue with my mechanic who said the tire wear was not terribly bad, but recommended I go to Les Schwab and get a new tire, front end alignment and front end inspection. I went to Les Schwab on Pacific Avenue and Larissa was friendly, efficient, and gave me several options. Recommended three types of tire for the front axle and said the rear tires would be rotated to the front and I would be quite safe. I've been shopping with Discount Tire across the west for the last 30 years. I've met many employees and had numerous conversations. After purchasing my dream car, they've always been able to order the tires that I need and get them quickly. Most recently, I've had to cash in a number of replacement certificates due to the Tacoma roads (boo) and have spoken with Austin, the manager, a number of times. The Pearl location has been very helpful and always on point when obtaining replacement tires. Friday, I had another pot hole induced blow out and the car was back in Austin's hands again. When I went to pick it up I noted that there were two new tires! Austin had noticed that the rear was flat when he pulled into the garage to house it overnight. It too had been punctured and I didn't even know. He replaced that tire as well and then apologized for not calling to tell me! No apologies were necessary, they saw a problem and corrected it without wasting time. The replacement certificates are a super value if your car runs low profile tires (like mine) and you live someplace with bad roads (like Tacoma). This year Discount has replaced 3 tires on my car and, with new certificates, my cost has been $120. Each tire on my car runs $280+ so 3 brand new tires for less than half price is a great deal. read more

I've been shopping for tires with Discount Tire for over 30 years. This latest shopping trip was fantastic due to some changes made by Discount Tire. I was able to shop for tires, pay for them, and set an appointment for installation online. Discount Tire sent me an email confirmation with my order details and the time for my appointment. I also received a message on my phone the day before my appointment as a reminder. I arrived at my appointment on time and there were 3 other people in line. I listened to the person at the front desk as he gave each person the details of each tire they were shopping for, the total cost, and the time for installation. At no time did he rush the customer. When my turn came up, my tires were inspected and then I pulled into the last stall as my car is low and does not fit on their lift. Jaden took great care of my car. He was very careful with my wheels when dismounting and mounting the new tires. I was in and out of the shop area with new tires in about 30 minutes. Bought new tires yesterday. They were super nice and helpful. They were also extremely busy with bad weather but they made me feel valued and did their best to get me taken care of in a timely manner. Took one star away for lack of COVID restrictions. In a very small waiting room I saw three people without masks and they were helped without any staff asking them to mask up. There were a couple of seniors waiting, it was raining so we were pretty much stuck in the waiting room for extended times. I felt extremely unsafe and am now worried about getting sick. read more

Appalling Discount fiasco. 1029 N.Pearl St used to be my preferred tire shop for ~5 years until tonight. I dropped off my car for rotation & balance. Even though it is a full-frame vehicle, the techs lifted it... by the rocker panels ! Of course the rocker panels got bent. This location used to have professional mechanics that did great job rebalancing tires that other Discounts botched. Last time I was here in June and those crew members lifted it just normally under the frame, as expected. I guess over the summer they hired new techs who don't know the difference between unibodies and frames. Manager Sebastian explained to me that they lift all vehicles by the rocker panels when convenient and that it was my responsibility to stick around and instruct the techs to lift it by the frame since that's what the frame is designed for. Young mechanics apparently cannot be expected to deduce correct lifting points heuristically. Would not give me a receipt either and kept my old receipts that I submitted at the beginning of service. Probably to delete all records of my prior patronage. Unscrupulous management here and uneducated new technicians. I want my car fixed at a proper body shop and paid for by Discount corporation. I will never go to discount tire again I had gotten brand new tires put in just last year, I went to get my tires checked recently because I hit a curb, the guy at discount tire told me that I immediately needed to get my front tires replaced because the tread was bad, and they are most likely going to explode on the highway if I don't. I left that day and said I would come back to get them replaced. Few days later I came to Costco today to the Tire Center to get their opinion and it turns out that my tires are perfectly fine They measured my tread and said that my tires are brand new. So discount tire lied and tried to trick me into thinking my tires were bad, even though I just have them replaced last year. They even had me stressed out to drive for a few days. I'm extremely disappointed and wouldn't trust these guys ever again, they are out to steal your money and give you false information on your car. Zero stars. You guys suck! Go to Costco. read more

They have a tire check station outside where you can drive through & they will check the air pressure in your tires (super convenient) . Also they patch tires for free. I completely destroyed a tire on my SUV not too long ago & they were able to order me the tire that I needed and replace it in a timely manner. Wow. This is my updated review--much better than my previous one! I needed my tire rotation/rebalance and made an appointment online for 4:30pm on a Saturday. I showed up on time, got up to the counter to check in immediately, and sat down to wait for my tires to do their thing. I asked the guy how long it would take and he said 30-45 minutes. This time, my car was done in less than 30 minutes and the other guy who worked on my car for me was so nice in explaining what he did and wished me well on my way. You guys have redeemed yourselves in my eyes! I hope to come back to another fantastic experience. :) read more

I came into the discount tire on Pearl a couple of months ago to get pricing on all season tires to prepare for the winter and be able to get to Crystal mountain for snow sports. I was greeted by Austin who was super helpful and showed me many different options of tires for my car at varying levels and prices. I knew right then I wanted to purchase my tires from them based off of this encounter. I ended up ordering tires that weren't in stock and making an appointment a week later to come get them installed. It took about an hour as quoted and I was able to watch them in the bay during the whole process. Fast forward to yesterday at 8am, I was taking my kids to school and my low tire pressure light alert came on. One of my kids had to be at school in 10 minutes but the other had 30 min until his school started. I also had a lift ticket booked with plans to hit the slopes after the second drop off. So I dropped my daughter off and stopped for an air check at Discount Tire before the elementary school. The attendant was prompt and friendly. When he got to the 4th tire he told me the bad news, unfortunately it was under 15psi and he couldn't fill it. He was going to ask if there was something else they could use and if not they could repair it but it would take a couple of hours because their morning was filled with appointments, which I could see from the volume of cars in the bay and the parking lot. I asked if I could take my son to school and come back because his bell was going to ring in 15 minutes. The manager, again Austin was passing and took a look and said I really can't drive on that because it might blow out because it's so low. He said he could get me in and it would take 45 min to repair and that was putting me in front of a lot of people. I pulled into a parking space and Austin got right to work. Tom came out to get my customer info, returning 3 times to cater to me not having to get out of the car or take my son out. From getting my email, asking questions, bringing my receipt etc. all while Austin jacked up the car removed the tire, the metal, leak tested it and put it back on. The whole process only took about 15 minutes. I'm not sure which was more impressive, the wonderful customer service or the skill and execution of removing, repairing and replacing the tire. They both exceeded any expectations. My son only ended up being 3 minutes late for school and I was able to get to the mountain with hardly a delay. Austin, Tom and the air check attendant really recovered a Friday that was heading south! Amazing. Would recommend and so glad I got my tires with the lifetime cert from them! read more
